  1. Everyone keeps talking that the OL improved on the bills after the bye week changes. Did it ? I broke the season evenly at each 8 game interval for Losman. QB Losman 1st half-----Sacks -----TD-----Att-----YDS-----YAvg ---------------26 --------7------210-----1400-----6.7 2st half-----Sacks -----TD-----Att-----YDS-----YAvg ---------------21 --------12-----220----1637-----7.4 Losman seemed to reflect in his stats that the OL improved. Not just slightly either! The 6.7 Yavg was good enough for 18th in the league (final league stats) where as the 7.4 jumped Losman & the bills to 7th overall in the league. Reduced sacks, more TD's, and greater Yavg indicates the OL was a piece of an improving puzzle; toughest league schedule to boot! I broke the season into 7 game intervals for MCGahee using the broken ribs as a convienent midway. RB McGahee 1st half-----YPR -----TD-----Fumb-----Plays >= 15 Yards --------------3.8 ------1--------1----------------5----------- 2st half-----YPR -----TD-----Fumb-----Plays >= 15 Yards --------------3.6 ------5--------3----------------2----------- Some may use his broken ribs as a reason for decline in YPR avg. McGahee lit up the jets before the cracked ribs and after. The totals against the jets were 42 carries, 275 yards, and a fat 6.6 rushing average. Minus those two games, McGahee ends up with a paltry 3.3 rushing average against the rest of the league. Note that the A-train averaged 3.5 yards; just -.3 less then willis for the season. I was dreaming like the many others of getting a draft pick higher than 3rd for Willis. Yes he's cap friendly, in a contract year, and has the OL and QB to use as a possible scapegoat, but I can only see the Giants willing to pay the highest price for him. LIke I said, Coach Tom of the giants isn't going to sell the superbowl contender Dream to the NY Media with a rookie or inexperienced RB. What are they willing to pay? If the bills get a 3rd round pick, it just isn't going to make the team better. Willis will play to pad his stats for the next contract, so him sitting out ain't gonna happen. If bills get a 3rd round pick at the best, it's gonna be a really tough calls for Marv and the Bills. What do you do with a 3rd rounder and 1 less starting RB?
  2. Champ Bailey didn't get the broncos into the playoffs and they have a better team than the bills. Let clements walk and soak up another teams cap space, bills need to pour in cash in more urgent places (stopping the run). Bye clements!
  3. Agreed. Patriots found mahoney at pick 20 something. If the bills were to move down in the draft, get extra pick and a macgahee pick, that could be a productive approach. It seems like alot of the draft picks from 15 -90 are very bunched up and it's gonna be hit amd miss. So more picks you have, better chance of a hit.
  4. Who on the giants would they give up for willis and that the bills would want to take?
  5. Most, if not all GM's have a faint picture of how the draft is going to come up. The combine, Free agency, and then the mock draft each team is going to go in on draft day. At the draft, teams will see whether their player is still on the board, or try to move up and down to secure their pick or just harvest some additional picks for their 1st rounder. Marv is in an EXCELLENT position with willis. He DOESNT have to trade him if he doesn't want too. Willis is cap friendly and playing for a contract; no way willis sits out this season. Willis will take a huge beating in his next contract which will remeber his 3.8 avg in a league where 4.0 is the median for the whole league. Marv has the RB that the giants would love to have. On draft day it's going to come down to who blinks 1st. The earlier the RB's are taken, the better position that Marv is in. This is actually a position of strength and it's Marv that has all the cards.
  6. You really know how to crush our dreams, don't you? Great work. I will still argue this point strongly: Coach Hot seat Tom of the Giants would take Willis next year over any free agent or available RB. Tom & GM have to look like they are fielding a team contending for the superbowl or the media are gonna kill them. It's willis and pay the heavy price Giants or suffer the wrath of the evil empire (media).
  7. Tom will not take his giants next season with a rookie or unproven RB. The NY media will eat him alive. As for the "won't part with 1st day picks", thats just posturing on their part. They want to get him as for little as possible. They will pay someone for a RB. Willis is there best choice.
  8. There is some team that would be willing to pay a 1st rounder or at the very least a 2nd rounder. If we don't get that then we are in a worse case scenario because we are going to need 2 RBs and no where to get them from with a 3rd or later pick. But willis isn't worth a 1st rounder you say? Not true. For many of us yes, but for some teams he's an attractive option. Willis is cap friendly right now. No major hit for any team that wants an experienced RB. The team can see how he responds to his contract year on the field and then roll the dice on him. No commitment! Indy RB Rhodes was mainly a setup guy for adai in the red zone; don't know what he would be like for the full load. Wouldn't want tpo pay that much money to find out. Add to the fact willis had had national exposure, has the OL and QB as scapegoats, and can give a team like the giants instant credability to assess their team (QB & GM), he has alot of value for the right team. Someone will pay a 1st rounder for him. But who?
  9. I can see the Giants giving the Bills their 1st round draft pickand and then switching spots in the second round. 1st round Bills: 12 Bills:20 2nd round Giants:12 Bills:20 Anyone can run a 1000 yds in this league without being a stud; ask Denver. They do it almost every year!
  10. Excellent vision; a man who understands that importance of dumping that 3rd string RB Willis. Note: For Giants management and fans - translation: "A fine player who excells in tough situations; jauron many times can be seen lip synching the phrase "Money, Money" when willis completes a 3rd and 1 down. He is an outstanding member of the city and we are very heart broken to see a fine individual like willis leaving; Our loss is your gain. Now about that 1st round draft pick ........(dancing all the way to the draft). Willis is more of a dancer type that would fill the absence of Tiki easier for the OL than jones who is more north & south;less adjustment for OL. Agree completely TOM in Giant land can't keep his one year contract job on the back of a rookie; needs someone more experienced. It's all about saving TOM's job LOLOLOL. What a great day today in bills land!!!!!!
  11. It wasn't OK for the New England patriots to let Deion Branch go without getting a 1st round draft pick. They could have let him sit the whole season (because of getting a draft pick, it's really what they did), then release him because it would have been TOO difficult to make a trade; but wait! They got a 1st round draft pick! This "getting nothing in return is OK" attitude might work for the teams without financial pressures because they can just roll out the dough and sign them. A small market team needs to capitalize their resouces; investment (long term contracts) or replacement (value or prospects in return). It's not always going to happen, but those damm patriots always seem to find a way to win and win and win, while others just say "it's OK, it can't be done like that". Since these are all opinions by us on this board, hopefully you don't group all the posters as whiners if they don't agree with your line of thinking. Exchanging ideas and opinions that are different are alot more entertaining then everyone sharing the same opinion. Do you agree on that one?
  12. They had about 15 stiffs on that team last year. You telling me if he has an average camp that YOU can't fit him in somehow?
  13. Maroney is a cross of STL jackson and KC johnson; he is GOLD! Wish bills had him - we would be set for next 6 years at RB. he's gonna have to cut his hair tho - only way players are going to be able to bring him down.
  14. In Chris Browns blog today, jauron actually sounded "SINCERE" in hoping to sign all three of the bills free agents. Then added they are very intereested in some free agents. Go figure!
  15. The guy never complains and works his F'n ass off to get back into shape. If any of you have had any kind of injury (even a sore back) , you know that your body instinctivly tries to compensate for the pain by putting pressure on different parts of your body; even psychologically, your fear of being injuried again can over compensate aswell. Hence:hamstring! The guy deserves a fair shot even with an average camp if he has one. Who knows what he'll be like after half the season and he gets his confidence back. Bills arn't going to the super bowl next year, but can gain alot of internal respect from their players on giving a guy like Takeo extra slack on recovery process. My money is that they keep him; wouldn't want to release him to another division rival and come back to rip JP to shreds.
  16. It's kinda like this: You and your wife have been married for a few years; after she nurses you from a serious auto accident. A relative drops by and asks you what do you think of that blonde nieghbor? You say that you would enjoy being her husband because she's great and fun, plus there's nothing to do with your present wife. You didn't bash your wife, but praised your blond nieghbour. Those of you that have had serious relationships, realize that the honeymoon is over! The honeymoon with willis is over. Ship him out on the first bus load of strippers, heading out of Buffalo.
  17. Say "Hello" to your new signature LOL I am one cup of coffee away from starting the "The Official We ARE Trading Willis Thread". But let me try to talk some sense into all of you 1st. He would not be a starter on NE, Jax, or IND; not even the BACKUP for those three teams! Willis has JP and the OL to use as a scapegoat. How many times did he get tackled from BEHIND when he should have busted the play for a TD? What about "Third and One" anyone? If anyone would be crazy enough to trade Willis for a 1st round pick, I would do it in a second. Use the A-train for the season, slowly break the 1st rounder (RB used on the second 1st rounder) in, and let this team jell and mature for next season. RB WILL be a problem sooner or later; lets take care of this mess Now!
  18. Forgot the team, name me a player on that team that was a "nate" situation? If we went 8-8 and made the playoffs, then lost; would the bills have changed their mind on nate? Don't think so. They had ALL season to come up with a new contract to keep him and let him go. So, if you have players like nate they can pad your win loss record for that season, but then what? You have to pay sometime and NOW we are going to pay the price with a rookie CB; and no dividends from a nate trade of a year ago. I am not in favour of dumping players just because they will be free agents and we won't sign them, but looking at the overall picture of the team. Nate will take alot of financial resources; those that would be better spent to lock up JP and Evans in the next few years; and maybe a RB. If the bills picture was "10-6" and won a playoff game", then I would be asking "why didn't they sign him last year to a contract extension?"
  19. This is why marv has to trade willis before the season starts. His comments weren't a character issue, but a sensitivity issue; fans of NY. Othe players wouldn't mind playing for a team that's on it's way up and they can get alot more playing time than most other teams; youth and inexperience. Willis, if he was to stay, would be under the gun right from the start. One bad play, quarter, or game and the fans are gonna let him HAVE it; relentless! He's in a no win situation, useless for the bills, and you can't trade his ass for anything. Best for every1 if he leaves.
  20. Apples and oranges. Colts were a super bowl contender who would be willing to retain any potential free agents for their super bowl run the following season. Bills were a team that would have been hard pressed to make even .500, never mind the playoffs. Bills were also indicating at beginning of the season that financially it would be difficult. If the bills were at least a playoff team with a decent chance of making some noise in the playoffs, then of course you keep him. This wasn't the case, therefore it would have been better served for the organization to have nate leave with some kind of dividend; draft choice(s) or a young prospect.
  21. Actually I felt like that BEFORE the season started. I would rather have a rookie of the future get burned then have a one year rental player take that valuable experience away from a potential long term starter; unless it's a gap to fill for a super bowl run. The couple of responses in here seemed to shed some light on the more likely reason that Nate wasn't dealt. Marv had alot of pressure on him going into this season (pssst.......bills have an 80 year old GM....LOL ). I am sure that he felt he would be place under a microscope unfairly at times because of his age; compound that with trying to stabilize a franchise ruined by a incompetent GM with 3 coaches in 6 years. Marv mayt have also figured that Nate could show some of the Draft picks a thing or two and since the team wasn't going to make the playoffs, the overall picture with Nate made more sense for Marv. Funny that Marv hasn't received alot of credit for stabilizing this franchise and the excellent Draft he had, nationally! I am certain, 100 % that this year Marv will not make the same mistake with Willis; This RB is traded before the 1st game of the season next year. You can all quote that in your signatures!!!
  22. Does every1 else get the anoying "Orbitz" pop-ups every time they click on a ESPN story? How do u get rid of this crap? BTW, what did mcghee do with the other 4 million; saved it hopefully?
  23. "If the Bills allow Nate Clements to walk as a free agent this off-season, which is the prevailing thought around the league, Buffalo could be looking at a serious hole to fill at cornerback. Revis is a lock-down corner who was both an interception hound and a dangerous special teams return man in his three years at Pitt. With the Donte Whitner and Ko Simpson picks last year, and Revis this time around, the Bills could find themselves with one of the youngest and most promising defensive backfields in the entire league by the time the draft is complete." There you go Bills fans. Things are looking up! Can hardly wait for season to start!!!!!!!
  24. LOL - only ONE BINGO!!! winner per week please! Seriously, the DL was pushed back 4 yards frequently at a speed so fast that a MLB couldn't get into position to make a tackle at the line of scrimmage? Sounds like a tuff sell, even for fletchers agent. Do we want Fletcher there in 3 years at MLB at the cost that they will demand? Or draft this year or next year a MLB and in 3 years, might make a major impact like that excellent rookie MLB for the texans?
