  1. I couldn't remember three
  2. Apparently you're a product of this "less education" system, as you didn't even comprehend the article you read. (sorry, low blow ). I'm assuming you're talking about this quote: "The principal at Oak Knoll Elementary says first-graders spend about six hours a day doing school work, and they shouldn't have to do more work when they go home." However, the whole article is NOT about first graders, it's about the entire elementary school (which was K-6 when I was a kid). If you had a teacher giving you that much homework every night, then that's a problem. But the solution isn't to ban all homework, it's to tell that teacher to tone it down. CW
  3. It would've been more effective if you would've quoted Holcomb's complaint: "We're getting a manned mission to Mars instead! " But understanding the solar system has no benefit for us here on earth, right? Gore's probably going to say that the rollerskates we sent to Mars are what's causing the warming there.
  4. http://cbs2chicago.com/topstories/topstori..._058220730.html I *love* this quote: "Fueled by parent complaints, the too-much-homework issue has taken root primarily in wealthy communities with high-achieving schools." The problem, in my opinion, is that parents put such rigid schedules around their kids' whole day that there's no TIME for homework. They have to take music lessons from 4-5, basketball practice from 5:30-6:30, dinner from McDonalds from 6:30-6:45, dance rehersal from 7-8:30, then we drive home, go to bed, and start over. I hear these sorts of schedules from parents at my job and I can't imagine living like that (as a parent OR child!) CW
  5. He signed a dead guy?!?! Stupid Marv....
  6. Huh? I liked Fletcher and didn't want him to go.
  7. Levy's a big special teams guy. Obviously we signed this guy as our master kick blocker. He's not going to play OL this year.
  8. It's nice to see that Bills fans still bash everyone who leaves the team. Heck, fans have taken it to a new level and bash the players who they think will be leaving the team!
  9. It's really snowing like crazy here now. They even shtudown a local shopping mall!!! If I'm lucky, my company will shutdown tomorrow and I won't even have to work from home.
  10. Yeah, we'll definitely try to make it!
  11. Why are you in Arkansas? As long as the weather doesn't stay crappy all weekend, I'll be there. I have Swarm season tickets (10 rows behind the penalty box - come say hi if you want ). The first ever Swarm game was actually against the Bandits and there was a huge snowstorm -- only about 1000 people showed up to the arena! Took us about 2.5 hours to go from the State Fairgrounds to the X - it was crazy! So if we can make it for that game, we can pretty much make it whenever. Here's another reason to go: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=60275
  12. It does make the best popcorn - we just had some on Monday. Not sure if you use the prepackaged stuff or if you "make your own" (we do both), but the purple popcorn and the baby white popcorn are my two favorites. Purple: http://www.popcornpopper.com/6amishpurple.html Baby White: http://www.popcornpopper.com/46401.html And for those who have no idea what we're talking about, it's here: http://www.popcornpopper.com/stovetop-poppers.html Best popcorn ever, guaranteed (especially with the coconut oil: http://www.popcornpopper.com/77265.html ) CW
  13. Nothing yet... We were supposed to get dumped on yesterday, and got about 1/4". Yay... If it starts getting bad, I'll leave work early and work from home tomorrow though. CW
  14. Well aren't you special.
  15. Nope, just a lacrosse cheerleader for the Minnesota Swarm. CW

  17. Scary how easy he got into your house, no? We had a similar situation, although it wasn't due to a broken lock. We leave the door in the garage unlocked (since you need to open the garage door to get in -- not impossible, but hey). Well, we got in the bad habit of not even carrying our house keys with us. One day, the door somehow got locked. My wife was the last to leave, so either she accidentally did it or one of the cats did it. We tried getting in through an open window on the second floor, but nobody we knew had a long enough ladder. We went to the police station to see if they could help us, but nobody was there (it's a small town). Finally this guy a few doors down from us tried some stiff cardboard and we were able to jimmy the lock open. It kinda sucked but now we always have our keys like we should have in the first place. Late night calls suck -- our furnace went out a few weeks ago on Saturday night and it cost us about $330 to get it replaced, most of which was "emergency late night call" fees. CW
  18. Well just because it comes with Vista, doesn't mean you can't install XP instead if you have a license laying around (especially a corporate license that doesn't need to check-in with MS...). Seriously, there's going to be a lot of security issues popping up with Vista and many of them will be 0-day exploits. I'd also recommend not doing wireless at all if possible -- but I realize some poeple like the convenience. I'd recommend changing the WPA key every 2-3 months though. CW
  19. Heh, go for it
  20. My mistake. Someone posted that link yesterday, and I just assumed it was from yesterday's game.
  21. I'd say Peters won, hands down. Doesn't matter who threw more punches or whatnot, Peters popped McGratton in the middle of his face and that forced McGratton to stop fighting. That's a win, in my book. CW
  22. Thinking of something creative to do with the jersey?
  23. "Don't mess around with Buffalo, we'll punch you in the head!"
