  1. Really? Let's see in one case - someone died, the offender owned up and has taken a BLA test. He may or may not have been drunk and seems to be cooperating with the authorities. In the other case, the offender hit someone, didn't own up until he had no choice and then got into trouble again. All the while refusing to cooperate with authorities. The victim was hurt and did not die. The only real difference here is that one is a Buffalo Bill and the other isn't. I'm sick of the double standard here.
  2. Hey. If this works out for us, I'll be the first one to come up here and eat my words. This guy is possibly the most singularly gifted WR of the last 5-8 years in this league with the exception of Randy Moss, hell maybe even including him. This was a cheap shot. But then again if it succeeds - no one will care. Great franchises build from the ground up. A great franchise would have gotten a great coach and built a FO worth a damn. Ala Pitt or NE or anyone of half a dozen teams. But that would have been too difficult. We are a desperate, sad franchise - taking a shot in the dark. What the hell. We may as well. But if this fails, the franchise, the players, the city and region all fail. Expect the moving trucks to show up soon after. Best case scenario - he plays great. We make the playoffs. Then what? He leaves for a multi gaziilion dollar contract elsewhere that we can't possibly meet. You think he'll care. We'll just be here to pick up the pieces of all the other players and coaches he mowed down in his wake. This is an all chips in play - one slim UPSIDE against a whole bunch of travesties. But hey, who cares about all of that? Right? If any other franchise had attempted this, we'd be LMAO. But because the Bills did this - somehow it was the best thing ever. It's like we didn't have enough dysfunction and drama at One Bills Drive.
  3. This was so obviously a marketing move. Think the Bills lost a bunch of season tix renewals? I think so. He will be a boy scout for half the season and the moment we are out of it, he'll explode. No coach is going to want to come here with that idiot on our team. Thankfully it's only for 1 year. This could be a genius move or the nail on the coffin that finally puts this franchise in the ground. Still, I give them credit for trying to shake things up. We don't have a strong enough locker room to keep him in check. The lunatic is gonna run the asylum.
  4. I'm a far recent Bills fan. Just since the 90s. I didn't grow up with a football tradition, so I have no idea what a lot of the folks here went thru with the sh***y Bills. But years later I stayed loyal - partly because of the teams of the 90s *and* the front office and coaches. But moreso because of the fans, I just couldn't get over how much the Bills meant to WNY. Even in Rochester where I used to live. I live in Nashville and football is a big part of the South. Especially college ball. But, I honestly can say that no other region I've been to lives and dies by their team as much as Buffalo fans. The one possible exception is maybe Pittsburgh. So when ownership and the FO these past few years seems just a shade over apathetic. It breaks my heart for so many reasons. WNY deserves better. But unfortunately, unless something fundamental changes in the way the franchise is run, I believe it will only get worse and then ultimately the team will have to move due to lack of support. I don't know what the answer is. But I know what isn't the answer - to continue giving these idiots our hard earned money. I've made the decision to cancel the Sunday Ticket for the upcoming season. It just doesn't make sense to pay to be aggravated. Peace brothers and sisters, Charles
  5. Greer is gonna pull a "Leonhard" in the Big Easy. With a real coach and a productive QB watch him make a run at being in the Pro Bowl.
  6. I don't know if Coles is the answer. But right now we don't have a bona fide #2 receiving threat. I am a HUGE Steve Johnson fan. But even I can see that we need someone to take the heat off Evans and consequently Edwards. I suspect at some point if Johnson is given enough opportunities he'll take on the #2 or even #3 role. But right now the program is in dire straits and we need a proven guy. I also like the idea of trading for Scheffler from Denver and/or Cutler if he is available. He has the talent and swagger to be the next Jim Kelly. Plus he's played in cold weather. He's from Santa Claus, IND for God's sake...
  7. I like his writing style. Very cogent. Well thought out.
  8. Amen. Reading elsewhere - the Dockery move (ie. overpaying) was the right thing to do. Problem was we didn't overpay for the right guy. For that we can blame John Guy. Every media outlet at the time was surprised that we payed that much money for Dockery. But they were pleasantly surprised that the Bills actually played and were aggressive. I think we overpaid for Walker as well. But at least that dude can block. At the time, I thought Dockery was the better investment. The real dumb move would have been to keep Dockery after us overpaying and he under performing.
  9. Guys come cheaper when you have success. If you were an NFL FA would you pick the Bills and give them a discount on the possibility of going to the playoffs/championship? Didn't think so. We have an unproven QB, a suspect pass rush, and a so-so OL. We have a blue chip WR and RB (when he isn't being arrested). I haven't even mentioned our coaching staff. Success breeds success. Right now we have zilch. Ergo, we have to overpay to get respectable talent. Unless those players: a) Have a soft spot for BUF b) Are on the downside of their careers. c) Just losers. C
  10. It looks like the guy would rather go to CIN than come to the Bills. How messed up is that? How screwed up do we have to be to look worse than CIN.
  11. Cutler if you want a QB. Trent if you want poise and hair.
  12. I can't believe the Bills cut him cause they didn't want to pay the $4.5 million for this year. If he gets traded isn't it off our books? Esp. if Detroit and Washington were vying for his services. WTF? I would think we would have gotten at least a 4th round pick.
  13. I really, really like this signing. I wanted Garcia here, but he is not going anywhere where he isn't going to be the big cheese. Fitzp. is a good player. He is a leader. He might not have a super arm, but he is very savvy. This signing doesn't threaten TE, but if he regresses Fitz can step in more than adequately. This is a Holcomb type signing, except this kid has b*lls. C
  14. Dockery did nothing to earn his contract. Same with Royal. I like these cuts because it removes guys who were *only* for the most part locker room lawyers. I'm sure they talked to Dockery's agent to restructure. But I doubt DD wanted to do it. C
  15. I've hated John Guy since end of his first season. I've been on record here many times as to the piss poor job he has been doing. He is now part of the "inner circle." God help us.
  16. Second day pick or FA signing...
  17. The guy went almost 3 months before commenting. This is the first time in a long time that I haven't seen a coach make end of season address in a press conf. He's too much a coward to address fans and the press after he was retained. I expect things on the field will take the same tenor.
  18. Now...*that* was the post of the day... Our decidely masculine QBs aren't helping us win...Hell, I'm for a female QB with balls and gumption coming in here and embarrassing these bunch of overpaid *&%^$# into overperforming in their respective roles. I don't care. I just want them to play with some fire. If it's flaming, so be it... C
  19. Ryan Fitzpatrick would be great. He doesn't have a great arm. But he is smart and knows the game. I realize this sounds like Trent. But I remember him playing in STL, and how for his first start, he knew exactly where to go with the ball. I Like him.
  20. I'll be the first to admit I'm not an OL technique connoisseur. But he didn't seem to be half bad when I watched the home town T*t* play. He's no Metz - but compared to who we have, he's the second coming of Sam Gash. He also studied under Munchak. Which isn't a bad thing. It drives me nuts to see the middle of the field open for the taking on passing plays and we can't take advantage of it unless Reed is in there. Or worse Royal drops the damn ball. If Bo wants something upwards of 4mil/yr I think we keep looking, but other than that I'd give him a close look. C
  21. Oh, I absolutely agree that we should draft someone. But to think we can develop one in-house is just silly. The last guy we had that was was Riemersma. TN is a run first team. In our short passing RAC system, he could potentially do well. Bottom line is he is a relatively inexpensive (yep, inexpensive - compared to what we're paying Royal (just under 2.5 mil)) for a guy the other team actually game plans for. Is 3 mil a lot of scratch for an above average player? Sure. But it's gonna have to be *at least* that for anyone to consider coming to BUF. Seems like a fair trade for a guy that could be a good security blanket for the 2nd coming of Captain Checkdown. We have the cap room. C
  22. I'd give Scaife a 3-4 year contract worth about 3mil/year with incentives. That's about it. Right now a cadaver would be an upgrade over Robert "I'm The King" Royal. I'm optimistic about Fine but I don't think he is a sure thing. Scaife at least is kinda like a poor man's Witten. C
  23. I'd say the biggest difference was coaching. But IMHO Tomlin almost lost that game for the Steelers. I thought Whisenhunt outcoached Tomlin. But the biggest difference in my opinion is that Steelers had more playmakers. The list includes but not limited to Roth-berger, Holmes and Harrison. Even a gimpy Ward made some plays. Which brings me to the Bills. I think on every team there are role players and playmakers. We ask our role players to be playmakers. I think our bona fide playmakers are Evans, Lynch and McKelvin. You can make a case for Freddie Jackson too I think. But I look at our D and I just don't see enough or any playmakers. McKelvin maybe - but he definitely needs seasoning on defense. As a ST I think he is a stand out. As a footnote, I thought Stroud in the first game was going to be our defensive playmaker - then he fizzled out a little bit. C
  24. Typical, right? We've got bigger problems than who we hire as DL coach.
