  1. Pettine was a scheme-master. Most of the guys tossed around this thread simply are not. Seattle? San Fran? Those defenses are RIDDLED with talent. We need a guy who can confuse the **** out of QBs like Pettine can. But I haven't the foggiest who that guy is.
  2. A la bye week opponents I fully expect Brandon to file grievance over this cluster !@#$. Process took way too long, put us at a competitive disadvantage to find replacement and we've had an asset poached hardly a year after he came aboard a rebuilding process. Talk about kicked when you're already down. When's this !@#$ing team going to catch a !@#$ing break!?
  3. Aaaaaaaaand now we'll be competing with our former DC for diminishing DC resources. I hate the Browna.
  4. In before the thread gets closed!
  5. Evidently there have been undisclosed interviews: http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/article-1/Thoughts-on-Browns%E2%80%99-head-coach-search/eabc4b7b-542e-48af-8a1f-e802a08d39b7 Also: AdamSchefter6:49pm via UberSocial for BlackBerry Cleveland's HC search down to two finalists who will meet with Browns' brass Thursday, per league sources. Bills DC Mike Pettine a favorite
  6. http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/10334546/dante-scarnecchia-long-new-england-patriots-offensive-line-coach-retiring Fresh blood on the defense? House cleaning on the horizon? Just coincidence? Out smarting the rest of the league again? What are these guys up to?
  7. Just so we're all clear: the main vein of information coming out of Cleveland, Mary Kay Cabot, whiffed no less than a half dozen times during the Browns coaching search of 2013. IIRC she tweeted that Chip Kelly was locked-in as the Browns HC. I believe she said the same thing about Marrone, too.
  8. Surely this came up http://profootballzone.com/nfl/mary-kay-cabot-browns-johnny-manziel/
  9. Bb.com link makes it sound like Whaley is growing impatient.
  10. I think it's totally valid for Dougie squared to hop on the blower and ask just WTF is going on here? And lest we forget that the statistical aberration that really boosts those rankings didn't come until week 16. Why do I get the feeling that everyone who says we're !@#$ed if he leaves also spent a lot of time during the regular season telling us how bad the defense was? Why do I get the feeling that everyone who says we'll be fine is NOW starting to do the math on how bad the defense was...?
  11. If Pettine goes, so does Byrd.
  12. Meh. Tim Graham lives to make Bills fans squirm.
  13. I'd love Pettine to stay. But he wasn't as good as Wanny was bad. I don't think his replacement would be too difficult to find.
  14. The situation in Cleveland--from 30,000 feet--is pretty toxic right now. http://deadspin.com/the-browns-have-essentially-no-coaching-staff-right-now-1505420687
  15. The other beauty being that as fans all we have is faith and hope. Anything else is a self-inflicted hazard to your well being.
  16. I suppose some of us just prefer to acknowledge the step forward, rather than dwell on the mistake. I know, 14 years, blah blah blah. But like it our not, it's going to be at least another 48 weeks before this team makes the playoffs.
  17. I would expect Bellicheat to know a receiver intentionally taking out a DB on a screen play when he sees one.
  18. I know there was an AVP discussion last week, but this confirms that the possibilities extend beyond him. http://t.co/z2NATtCj8a
  19. Well I'm doing a lousy job of being smart then since I--like several other people in this thread--misread.
