Good job keeping the focus towards the topic of football stadiums.

There are a couple tech. issues with this generally correct assessment -

    1) there's a lot of overlap between vaccinated people, and people who have previous covid infection (infected people are still recommended to be vaccinated - so can't just add the two numbers.)

    2) this is still under investigation, but it's known that the Sars-Cov2 virus actively evades the immune response (it's a survival tool for many viruses, this one just seems better than many at FSU).  So there's an emerging believe that vaccinated immunity, which bypasses the immune suppression and evasion mechanisms of a natural infection, may actually produce stronger immunity.

    3) the estimate of 75% of the population to achieve herd immunity was based upon the R0 of the original dominant Sars-Cov2 strain.  The more infectious variants may require a higher level.

My point is that public health departments and epidemiologists may do the math a little bit differently than you are, and if the vaccination rate lags down at 60% or so, they may be running models and saying "ah yeah, I see reasons not to allow the stadia here to fill up to capacity"

Hopefully it will be a moot point.

This the problem with this whole situation though, the higher powers keep changing the goal posts and it seems like they are making stuff up as they go along just to prolong this thing and keep control.  I am going to leave it at that as I don't want to get suspended again.  I will say, the NFL is a very powerful force too, and I doubt Goodell and the boys are willing to swallow $3 billion dollars in loss revenue for a second straight year by not allowing fans in especially since most of the college stadiums in the south are going to be full go come Labor Day.

Bills should just make it a policy now that fans will be required to provide proof of vaccination in order to attend a game.    Let the season ticket holders provide proof now well before the season starts.    Let season ticket holders who do not intend to get vaccinated the option to release their seats for the year similar to last year.   If they opt out, they opt out for the entire season including playoffs.

Bills should also make it policy that all staff (at every level) working at the stadium provide proof of vaccination as part of the hiring process.

Under those conditions fans, players and employees can attend the games with the least amount of concern regarding (pandemic related) health.    It minimizes the risk for everyone involved.    Seems like a no brainer to me.

My guess is that is what they are going to do, and you have not gotten vaccinated you are going to have to show a negative covid tests before the game kind of like they did for the playoffs.

it to answer your question, OP, there hasn’t been a peep from the Bills besides the generic “oh, we jope we can welcome everyone back for the 2021 season!” stuff.  A lot of musical acts are already pushing their tours off until 2022, but that’s kind of apples and oranges (a lot of the shows take place in states that are a little more... umm... restrictive and it’s not financially feasible to just avoid those states altogether I guess).

They’ll likely wait til the last possible moment to make the dreaded “reduced capacity” announcement if it comes to that.

As a season ticket holder I got an email from the Bills a few weeks ago that said they fully expect full capacity at the stadium this fall plus Goodell said a few weeks ago that they expect full capacity.  Some colleges have already come out and said they are having full capacity and the Rangers just a few days ago had full capacity so why don't you stop with the doom and gloom crap, getting everybody worked up with your false narratives.

There's just a lot more basketball talent than there was 25 years ago.. and the Blue bloods very rarely have kids stay for 4 years

So if your a borderline high major recruit you can sit for 2 years and play two at Duke, or play all 4 at a school like Loyola or UB

And those mid majors are usually upperclassmen heavy.. all it takes is one good recruiting class of three kids, and when they're all upperclassmen.. they're going to have talent and experience

This is an excellent point.  Back in the 80's and early 90's the blue bloods had by far the best talent and the kids were staying for three years before going pro.  Now they are leaving after 1 or 2 years and in a one game setting where every mistake is magnified upperclassman leadership and kids playing with each other for 3-4 years means something.  Wait till next year where this extra year of eligibility comes into play and some of these top mid majors are going to be bringing back the same 5th year senior laden teams and it will be even more crazy.

  5. Anybody that has known me knows I am a huge college basketball fan.  This is my favorite time of year for sports, absolutely devastated a year ago when they cancelled.  I had my annual March madness party Friday & it was a great turnout, guys showing up I havent seen in years all throughout the day.  I actually got some fireworks and blew them off Friday night.  It was a fun time had by all.  As far as the tournament, I think the games for the most part have been great so far.  Yes the Big 10 looks very overrated right now, maybe Michigan, Iowa and maryland culd win today & that would still give them 3 teams in the sweet 16.  What is going on with the Pac 10?  They got 2 in already and could possibly get 2 more with USC & Oregon today, which are both favored.

As for my bracket, down in smoke had Illinois winning it all.  Bad draw getting Loyola in the 2nd round, those guys just play fundamentally sound basketball.  What a coach that guy is.   They were fun to watch yesterday.  Enjoy the next few weeks guys, should be some great entertainment.

Me? I’ve literally done everything to challenge/disrupt my genealogy. Drink like a fish. Smoke like a fiend. Refuse to exercise.

Chat with the folks weekly -they’re doing great. I’m thrilled they’re still a big part of mine and my siblings lives, but I have no desire to be their age. I’m 65, middle child of 5. 2 siblings have lost their spouses but they and all my Aunts and Uncles are still alive and doing well -all now Floridians.

For me, as old as I am, it’s still inconceivable to lose a family member younger than 92.🤷‍♂️

I personally don’t think you can match Glen Oak as far as bang for your buck goes with public courses. I play there a couple times per week during the season. I also love Hickory Stick.

Glen Oak was in the best condition I have ever seen it last year.  Nice track.  I usually go to Byrnecliff, I love that course.

I live in Lancaster and my son is a junior member at LCC, I mean it is a nice course & I have golfed it many times  but there are much nicer courses in the Buffalo area.  BCC, Park, Craigbyrne to name a few.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.  I think I may wait now until I get the email.  I don't want to have my money tied up if it is only going to be limited capacity.  I had a few friend that went to the playoff games, they said while cool because it was playoff football in buffalo, with only 6K allowed, no tailgating it was nowhere near the game day experience.  I really hope they let full capacity in next year because I think it will be wild at the stadium on gamedays.   With hospitalzations down to 204(from over 500 last month) and the positivity rate hovering around 1% for the past week or so, and with more and more people getting vaccinated, if the trends continue to go down I am thinkingthey should be full go at the stadium come the fall.  At least that is what I am hoping.

It's a big beautiful world out there.  Nothing personal but a lot of it is much more beautiful than WNY.

Ah yes I knew would not be able to resist taking a shot at WNY in this thread.  I have been to California many times and just have never understood the superiority complex people that live there have.  It is kind of the same complex that NYC people have.  You know the one.  "I am better than you because I live here."  My friend moved to orange County 3 years ago.  I have went to visit him 4 times so far and I could honestly say the best part of LA is that it is only a 40 minute flight to Vegas.  I have been to NYC many times and they have nothing on the traffic in LA.  We went to Santa Monica Pier one afternoon, I want to say it was about 20 miles from my friends townhouse.  We didnt time it very well when we left as headed home around 3:30 or on a Thursday.  It took us over 2 hours to get home.  Socal to me is dirty grungy place.  The housing prices are ridiculous.  Houses that push a million dollars there you could find nicer houses here on the east side of buffalo.  The homes in the suburbs of WNY blow anything Calif has unless your talking about $1 million + homes.

I don't even think there is much to do there.  The ocean looks cold and dirty, plus they got big things that could eat you in that ocean.  I go out to see my friend and we always wrap that trip around a trip to vegas and when I get to Calif I find myself counting down the days to I get to Vegas because I just hate it there so much.  I will give it to you the weather blows the weather out anywhere else in the country but what else do they have going for them?   High taxes, ridiculous property values, wild fires, smog, dirty, oveercrowded,  & I wont even get into the political stuff.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and no place is perfect.  Keep that in mind next time you take a shot at WNY.

Actually it is you who is wrong.

They lacked the capacity to implement what their coaches where teaching, both Losman and Manual were amply strong, they just couldn’t learn how to do it correctly, hence cognitive talent...

Brains my friend brains, it’s the thing that controls the muscles... Allen used his brain to control his musculature, and lifted himself out of the big strong guy with limited capacity category,  it’s that simple. And because of that cognitive talent Allen is now considered a top three QB in the league.

    Go Bills!!!

Yeah right, everybody gets the talent to be an all pro but they just cant apply what the coaches are teaching.  Whatever buddy.  Allen's talents are miles ahead of JP Losman, EJ, Todd Collins, Alex Van Pelt, Trent Edwards, Fitz.  If you can't see that, I don't know what to tell you.

  14. 20 hours ago, Don Otreply said:

None of those QBs were able to incorporate the knowledge from their coaches, if they had they would have had markedly more success. They had sufficient physical talent, but Talent is more than physical attributes, you need the cognitive talent even more, without that Josh does not succeed.

    Go Bills!!!

Your wrong, Losman couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.  Just too inaccurate.  I remember running on a tread mill next to Van Miller one time.  This was the summer of Losman's second season.  I asked him if JP had a chance to be good.  He said & I quote "No, just too inaccurate & I just don't see that improving."

Manuel, ask any FSU fan on here.   This guy was a converted receiver out of necessity due to injuries.  Jimbo ran a dumbed down offense for him.  He won a lot of games because that team was stacked.  Watch the difference in the offense in EJ's last year at FSU compared to the year after when Winston took over & won the NC.  It was so obvious that Jimbo trusted Winston much more.  He opened up the offense with him under center and the results were terrific.

It is pure fallacy that all qbs drafted in the first round have sufficient physical talent.  They don't.

Unless the vaccine uptake is good, there won't be attendance again next year.  I hate it, but, not sure the authorities can get it done.   I can hear it now.......people won't get vaccinated, and we can't open up until we get 75% covered.  Certain communities won't participate willingly....and etc etc.

Here comes the gloom and doom crap.  They will have fans next year, I am pretty confident.  This virus is going to run it's course within the next month or two and with the vaccines coming out I am hoping we get life back to normal.  Sports leagues, even the NFL are not sustainable without fans in the stands.  leagues can not go thru another year like they did this year.  MLB is trying to push back the season to may so they could guaranty fans in the stands.  Hockey & Baseball will go under if fans are not allowed in.  Even the NFL, they loss 3 billion dollars this year by not having fans.  If u=you think they could keep doing that year in and year out, your wrong.  I could see them not opening the parking lots to an hour or two before the game to curb tail gaiting but I am pretty confident the stadiums will be full next season.

Yes, but...I believe EJ Manuel, JP Losman and Trent Edwards were all coachable.  Despite different personalities, all three (I believe) were hard-working kids that wanted to improve.  They all lacked some of the key traits required to be a consistent, successful starting NFL QB, or had some kind of experience that threw off their development and they never recovered.  (Edwards had the concussion in the AZ game, EJ had Kevin Kolb slipping on a rubber mat in training camp forcing him to be a starter before he was ready, and Losman had the drafting/competition with Edwards - Losman had a full semi-successful year as a starter after his broken leg, so I don't count that).

I don't think any of these 3 had close to the package of skills that Allen has, which will make him one of the best in the business, but if one or all of them had come along during the McDermott/Daboll Bills of the last 3 years, do you think any of them might have become a serviceable NFL starter?

Once again, none of those qbs mentioned above had the talent of Allen.  Not even close.

& BTW, Allen was thrown in there before he was ready too.  The good ones persivere in the face of adversity, the EJ Manuels of the world are out of the league in 3 years.

The Giants did it with Daniel Jones (Danny Dimes); he's 6'5" - 221 lbs and out of Duke. His current NFL record is 7-17. Is he the long-term answer for the Giants, probably not. The Giants took a swing and missed. Teams will continue to do that. All draft picks are a gamble. Some you hit (Brady), some you don't (Aaron Maybin) ouch that one hurts.

Jones was a major reach, so was Haskins.  A lot of it is luck and how the QB draft is the year a team needs a QB.  A good franchise doesnt get cornholed into taking a QB even though they need one if there isnt one with a high grade the year they are drafting.  We had our horrid draft year when we ended up with EJ in the first when he should of been drafted no higher than in the 3rd round.  This exact situation never turns out well as it didnt turn out well for us & it is looking more & more like it is not going to turn out well for the Giants or Wash.

The thing about Allen is, his tangibles are off the charts & his intangibles are pretty dam good too. It is this why Allen is succeeding.   I would of took Rosen, glad they didnt.

Of course because your a bama fan & you want what is best for your team.  There is nothing wrong with that.  But....Do I think OSU is one of the best 4 teams in the country.  of course.  Their resume does not justify being picked over A&M or Cinci imo.  The powers to be should of put some heat on for Buckeye/A&M matchup this weekend.  It makes too much sense.

  19. You know, Ohio St got their game cancelled, A&M got their game cancelled, why not have the Aggies fly up north to the horseshoe & have basically a play in game to see who gets in?  I am sure Texas A&M would do it, OSU, probably not since they are already sitting at 4.  I wish some of these Ads could think out of the box & show some guts like BYU did last week in flying cross country to play CC.  I hope Ohio St gets left out of the playoffs.  They are only going to play 6 games & it is just not fair to the other teams that have played 10+ games.  They should put Cinci or A&M over them.  Plus if you want to talk resumes, their schedule stinks.  The only decent team they have played is Indiana.

we are going to need to bring it! Wish this were a true home game!!

Agree with the defense, they are legit, probably the best defense Allen will face all year.  Watching him last night, I think the end is near for Ben.  He never throws downfield anymore, granted this was the first time I watched him all year but I was shocked at all the dumpoffs he did.  He has been beat up pretty good over the years.  I think our D should be able to contain him.  Should be a good test.

  22. Started out 1-9 saturday & thought to myself "oh boy it is going to be one of these days"    Made a decent comeback in late afternoon/night games along with dabbling a bit in college hoops which I went 5-1 so I ended up winning $18 for the day.

I don't know if you guys bet college basketball, but my advice here at least in the early going is go against Chicago St, they are absolutely horrible, go against Cleveland St & Kentucky is very much overrated, their lines maybe getting adjusted soon, just got dumped by an average Georgia Tech team.  Also Wright St in the Horizon league is very good.
