I bought the Athlon college preview book the other week and they UB as the favorite to win the MAC.  Got them 9-4.  Mark it down here there going to give Nebraska  all kinds of trouble the second week of the season down in Lincoln.  Nebraska only has 3 returning starters on offense, their defense is a mess and they got Oklahoma the following week in Norman.  This has look ahead game all over it and this UB game maybe the game that gets Scott Frost fired.

Also, you heard it here first, the line is even, Ohio is going to beat Syracuse opening week.  Syracuse just maybe the worst power 5 team in the country this year.

I think the Ravens have a shot too. It is Chiefs, Bills and Browns in tier 1 for me and then Ravens and Titans in tier 2.

Crazy times we live in when the Bills and Browns are both mentioned as co favorites along with the chiefs to come out of the AFC.  Both fan bases have suffered enough, should be fun to watch this play out.

My girl turned 27 in May and I looked at taking her to Universal Studios because she loves Harry Potter and loves going to Harry Potter world there.  For 2 day passes, the fast pass add on (which now only works once per ride), the $40 fast pass bonus allowing you to use it more than once on each ride was already almost $500 for the 2 tickets.  Thats not including parking, food, drinks, etc.  And we have no kids yet!!!

I literally took her on a 5 day trip instead which the airline tickets cost me $100 less than 1 day pass for us both would have cost.  INSANE, cant imagine taking a family of kids there.  And Disneyland is even more expensive, let alone Disney World.

Its a joke how much these places cost now.  My cousin takes an annual trip to Disneyland for a couple days with her kids...and what she spends I can literally fully pay for 2 weeks in Europe or some place else, all flights and accommodations and food.

It is a joke, but people pay it somehow.  There are so many better thing to do with your money.  Universal is even more expensive than Disney but they have much better rides/attractions imo.  A family of four, if you go to the parks everyday for a week could easily spend 2 grand on just park passes which is insane.  Like I said, my son and I may hit a water park while we are down there(which are getting more expensive too) and my wife will take my daughter to Disney for a day or maybe two but that is it for us with the parks.  The parks are the biggest ripoff down there.  And no kid ever looks happy there either.

Haha, no I am well aware of the Disney prices, we stay at a condo down in Orlando about 3 miles from the park.  We go there every fall. Disney is the biggest ripoff there is bar none.  My son & I usually don't go to the parks anymore when we go down there as we have been to them so many times and like I said they are huge ripoff.  My daughter and wife still go to the parks as my daughter is still into princesses and that kind of stuff.  But yeah, I am well aware of the prices, guy just caught me on the wrong day.

Btw in terms of price, a few months ago I went to Nathan's and had 2 hot dogs and a small coke. It cost me $11.50. I'm not making this up. I am not a cheap person by any means but doesn't that seem excessive?

You think that is bad, I took the family to Disney World about 3 years ago, 3 hot dogs, a water, a large pop & an order of fries $46.  When the guy handed me my order he said with a big smile "have a magical day!."  I told him to go f*ck himself.

I agree about the impact of weather. Expect the influence of weather to grow as the league adds games to the schedule. We have two regular season home games in January this year. That’s huge with potential playoff implications. There seems to be a big difference with WNY weather before Christmas and after Christmas. These January games have the chance of being brutal.

Whenever the weather thing comes up I think it tends to get overblown.  The Bills played two playoff games last jan in OP and the Colts game was 30 and sunny with little wind and the Ravens came was a bit more breezy but the weather wasnt a factor.  I didnt pick up a snow shovel last year until the day after Christmas and i really dont remember WNY getting much snow in Jan either.  There is always a chance for horrible weather in WNY in late fall/winter but.... those instances seem like they are getting really few and far between.  I dont know if you look back over the past 10 years very few home games have been impacted by the weather imo.

I think they’ll adhere to whatever NYS law is at that time.  Probably one would have to have proof of vacc. To enter without a mask.  I know I keep mine in my wallet, plus have pics of it.  The part is completely unenforceable is once you’ve entered the stadium amd you’re in the bathroom, concessions, or seats, there is no way to keep forcing people to wear a mask.

If they follow suit of other businesses in NYS they will have a sign stating "by not wearing a mask you are admitting you are vaccinated."  I imagine that is what will happen.  They are not going to ask for everybody's vaccination card upon entry.  At least I think that is highly unlikely.

Yeah, I can't imagine they would try and ban it in any way. My thoughts were more towards the Bills owned lots and what changes there might be including the later opening time.

If the 10:30 lot opening for a 1:00 game turns out to be true it eliminates those lots as an option for me and a lot of people I would think as that isn't really enough time for a proper tailgate.

What is interesting is they still have on their website as 4 hours before kickoff as the opening of the bills lots.  I mean, parking is big money right now, I think they are charging $30 per car.  If they go to the 10:30 time, two things are going to happen, the bills lots are going to be at most half filled, and it is going to cause quite a traffice jam come 10:30 getting into those lots.

I actually measured the parking spaces in the ECC lot (and other lots.) My spaces are bigger so the cars are must be jammmed tighter than tight in the ECC lot. We all like throwing the football around but no one likes when their $30-40-50,000 vehicle gets hit and dented. There is a time and a place for such activities but not in a Tailgating Lot!!

  11. The guys and I were talking last night at the bar after our softball game about K retiring.  What do you think the ticket price on the secondary market for the last game of the regular season @ Cameron against the Heels is going to go for next March?

I was checking out TM today to see how much people were asking for club seats.  One person has a pair, just two sections over from mine, for $5K/seat for the Monday Night Pats* game.  They'll never get that when there's plenty of other club seats for less than $1K/seat.

BTW, reselling club seats is a lot harder than regular seats.  I've never made a profit, usually just lucky enough to break even.

You are correct sir, the sweet spot for making money reselling seasons are the tickets in the lower bowl between the 20's.  You could charge a fortune for them and their price isnt as high as the club seats.  My friend has club seats and he usually takes a bath on them when he tries to resell them, although this year maybe different with demand so high.

When the cowboys came in for that Monday night game we had tickets in the lower bowl on the 30 and my friend's work gave him 5 tickets in the upperdeck for that game and we sold our season tickets.   We dam well nearly paid for our whole season just by selling that game.

Actually, they sold out every game and had the highest attendance in the league for 2 or 3 (or 4?) straight years.

You're correct, it was not. But, I think (and someone else already alluded to some of this) there were a few reasons for not selling out:

    - Up until the week before, we didn't know there would be a game in Buffalo. So, we had something like 4 days to lift the blackout and of course the full 7 days to actually sell out.

    - Middle of winter although I don't remember this being a very cold day.

    - Too used to winning. After being the #1 seed the prior two years, now we got in as a wild card made people less enthusiastic of our chances.

    - We lost the prior week to the same team and left that game beat up, Kelly, Thomas, and Bennett (I may be wrong about Bennett) were injured.

Excellent points, plus remember back then there was no internet, couldnt buy online, a lot of the tickets that were sold back then people had to physically go to the stadium & purchase them.

Put Kelly in Miami and he’d have comparable stats to Marino. If Miami would have drafted him he wouldn’t have gone to the USFL. In Houston he threw for a million yards throwing to guys who worked in factories during the week

That is a dumb statement, first a lot of those USFL guys went on to have productive NFL careers.  But second, using your logic the defenses he was going against werent exactly NFL caliber either.

So was kelly, what is your point?  As to who is better, I got to go with the guy who had the lightning quick release and the rocket arm that could squeeze the ball into the tightest of spaces, that is Marino.  & I loved Kelly, I have a wall in the bar in my basement dedicated just to him.  I was always shocked if you go around the country people did not hold Kelly in as high as regards as the good people of WNY.  I always found that interesting because I that Kelly was amazing.  But marino was the better QB.  In my mind Marino is a top 5 qb right there with Brady/Manning/Brees/Montana.  Kelly doesnt even make the top 10.

    I dont hate Florida.

But I do hate Jacksonville, and swore to never return after the 2017 playoff game.

Why what happened.  Last time I was there Rob Johnson was QB, Thursday night game, we ended up winning it but the Bills were pretty bad that year.  I think they went 3-13.  Jacksonville I thought was pretty cool, I thought the golfing was awesome(usually I don't like Florida courses).  We did play one round at Sawgrass which was great.  Overall I had a good time but we were in our 20's when I went there, back then we would of had a good time anywhere my friends and I as long as there was beer involved.  I do remember the tailgating was pretty tame.  We got off the plane Thurs afternoon, stopped at beer store right away, picked up two kegs and headed right to the stadium.  People were looking at us kind of weird when we were doing keg stands at 4:30 in the afternoon.  Ah to be young again.

Lot X will live forever in my heart. But just not a fan of the town or the Jax fans. Been there, done that. No need to return unless it was something major like the AFC Championship maybe.

Same for Nashville. No need or desire to ever go back.

Ah okay, yes I will second that about the strip clubs.  They were god awful, and believe me and my friends were not picky back then.  I wouldn't touch these hogs with a 10 foot pole at bar down in chippewa.  Pretty distrubing.

doesn’t leave too much time to get your drink on, especially since you need to be lined up by 12:15 or so on opening day to have any prayer of getting to your seats by opening kickoff

Exactly, my son got his driver's license last summer so it is no holds bar for the old man this fall as he could drive home.  This maybe the year I end up finally in hammer's lot.  If I could find an easy quick way out of there I would do it but I live in South lancaster.  Lot 5 was perfect because I would be home from the 1pm games sometimes by 4:30.  I got to think about this one

  19. My friend who has club seats just bought some Steeler tickets.  He said he was shocked by the prices.  Anyways, he texted me & said in the fine print it says the Bills parking lots will open 2.5 hours before game time so in other words 10:30 for the 1pm games.  I figured they would do something like this.  Looks like the private lots are the way to go this year.

  20. I went to training camp a few years back with my dad, the first year Robert Foster was on the roster.  Foster was signing autographs and my dad shook his hand & said "son, your going to be a superstar in this league."   Foster looked at him like he had two heads & said "you really think so?"  Kind of a funny moment.

Training Camp is a unique experience, but like a lot of things in today's world it takes a back seat to technology and convenience.  Unfortunately.

People watch ESPN? I can barely stomach 5 minutes of sports talk radio, be it WGR or ESPN. The constant need to scream takes makes it a cartoon profession. And ESPN basically turned into a giant ad for the NBA, primarily, and NFL secondarily. They minimized baseball and hockey and that cost them audience. They're biggest problem is, they de-professionalized what they do. They perpetually aim for 18-24 year old males and pop/hip hop culture, which excludes many people. So by trying too over tune for a specific young demographic, they turn off many sports fans who don't need or want to be shouted at by Stephen A. Smith of any of the other idiots on those shows. When screaming and talking over each other became the focus of their shows, it was over for me. Stuart Scott, rest his soul, and Berman, started the cartoonish nature of sports and ruined it for me. I watch more English Premier League stuff than NFL stuff by a mile. Guess I'm the bad guy for wanting intelligent, reasoned, analytical, detailed takes by people who know the game inside and out between the lines. Premier League pregame shows, halftime shows, and broadcasts put any show and league broadcast in this country to shame.

Old media is old media... it's dying and I'm here for it.

Totally agree, sportcenter used to be much watch TV for me but I very rarely watch it anymore.  Their College Gamedays are terrific both for football and basketball.  I enjoy still watching them.  If live college sports was to abandon ESPN, I probably would not watch it at all.  I do watch PTI if I catch it when I flip thru the channels.  Wilbon & TK are still two of the best in the business.
