Why do the packers care about trading him to a team that is closest to winning a SB?  One would think that they would be looking for the best package of picks in the AFC.  Let’s use Denver for instance...🤣.  If Denver offered the best package of picks for AR, would GB refuse the trade because the don’t think Denver could win a SB with him?  No.  That’s just silly.

are you insinuating that there aren’t any teams that would be willing to trade for AR because they aren’t a QB away from winning a SB?  I don’t really understand the premise of the bolded.  What does this have to do with GB?  Rodgers doesn’t have a no trade clause, they can send him wherever they want.

There not going to send him in the NFC, I don't care what teams offer.  If the Broncos offer them 3 firsts and a few players aka maybe Locke & Surtain I am unloading him in a heartbeat.  He only has a few good years left anyways.

Last year, the Mets were horrid with RISP and the trend has continued through this very young season.  My guess is that Davis was put on notice before the season started - as he should have been.

It's tough to blame the hitting coach, but we both know that's how it works.

Lindor better get his head out of his ass soon.

How much longer can Rojas keep him in the 2 hole?  This guy doesnt have a clue at the plate right now.  Wainwright made him seem like he never seen a curve ball in his life before.  Absolutely ridiculous.

  3. With everyday looking like they are going to let full capacity at the stadiums i think home field advantage is going to be huge this year.  Hopefully the road thru the super bowl for the AFC this year runs thru Orchard Park.  With the rosters comparable on a talent level, I will take us over the Browns.  I just think Allen is so much better than Baker.

Well done sir.  I am trying to talk my wife into moving down to south carolina after my daughter graduates.  My wife loves the beach so I have been looking right outside of Myrtle Beach, a town called Conway, SC.  I will work on my daughter when the time is right to go to Coastal Carolina.  Any thoughts on if that is a good place to settle in for a couple that is in their late 40's?

    1. This is hard to believe. Seems like a pretty random guy that's claiming this.

    2. If it's true and the Packers said no, it makes one of the worst picks in history in Love even worse. What the heck is their plan with him?

I guess best case for the Packers is rodgers gets hurt and has to miss a few games, love lights it up, and they can trade him for a first round pick.

    What a stupid franchise.

Totally agree, if the Packers truly believe Love is their guy you make this trade without thinking twice.

See my edited post above. How long are you willing to wait to park in the lot? It’s already a hassle if you arrive at sunrise. Checking every individuals shot records and ID would back traffic up in a ridiculous way. This is just not practical for a variety of reasons, so I’m done discussing it. I’ve had my shots, but would consider parking elsewhere if there was an extra level of hassle involved.

Agreed, people that are commenting on this with saying it is achievable has never seen that lot on game day.  If he did do this as some stated he would lose a lot of business and my guess is he knows that.  He came out and said this for a few reasons, one is publicity, it has been over a year and it was like "hey guys don't forget about me." type statement & 2 this statement shows he is making an effort to make his lot safe.  You could check vax cards upon entry I suppose and I think that is where it would end.  If he started having the gassapo break up & interrupt tailgates for everybody to show their vax card people will find different lots to party in.  One thing Bills fans can't stand is being hassled during a tailgate party.

This general idea has been floating around for a few years and the obvious flaw is that very few QB prospects have been sure things, historically speaking.

Opinions on whether Lamar is a "franchise QB" aside - if the Ravens see him as one then they will pay him because a QB in the hand is worth five in the draft, and realistically you can only get one.

As it stands Lamar is a better athlete than Fields and hasn't made it past the divisional round - why would the Ravens think Fields could get them more?

There is a theory on this.  With second contract top qbs are pushing $30 million + per year.  Try to draft a top qb every 3 - 4 years and let the starting qb walk.  The cap savings is enormous and you could build up and keep intack the rest of your team.  It is not a coincidence that the seahawks have not made it to the super bowl since they gave Wilson the big contract.   There is two thing though where that theory goes to crap.  First, it is so hard to hit on a top tier qb & 2 if you already have a top tier qb chances are your not picking in the top 10.  It is an interesting theory though but I doubt any gm/coach would have the stones to actually do it.

This sums up their problem: Josh Allen was hyped for a full year before the 2018 NFL Draft as a potential No. 1 pick, and he went No. 7 to the Bills, all to the bafflement of pretty much everyone not employed by the league.

The reason they were so baffled is because the people employed by the league know that you can't interpret what a player is doing by looking at a bunch of stats.  You have to look at the player on tape & in person.  You have to interview the man to know how he thinks.  The Bills looked at the video of every down Josh Allen played.  The Bills went to watch him play live & watched him both on the field & on the sidelines.  The Bills interviewed him 3 or more times face to face.  The Bills understood that in a game played in horrible weather Josh carried his team, while the guys looking at stats saw a poor performance & probably compared those game stats with one of the So-Cal QBs playing in the sun.

When guys sitting in some office peruse stats instead of viewing hours of tapes, watching games live & talking to the players, they will never understand why the NFL professionals have a different opinion than them.  Now not all franchises are as diligent as the Bills were in scouting Josh.  That's why head cases like JaMarcus Russell, who Matt Millen personally warned Al Davis not to draft after a terrible interview with him, and Ryan Leaf, who was rude to Indy's management and came in out of shape at the combine, get drafted 1 or 2 in spite of flaws that would get them completely written off the Bills draft board.

This is an excellent post, well done sir.  I had some serious doubts about Allen.  My doubts came from the fact that in his two biggest games against the stiffest competition he would play in College(Oregon & Iowa) he was absolutely horrible.  Look up his stats they ere awful.  I started to change my tune on him when I went out for drinks for happy hour around Christmas time his last year at Wyoming with my boss, his son and his one friend.  They were back for winter break and his son's friend went to Wyoming.  This kid went on & on about Allen, saying he is a born leader, saying he just has a presence around campus, how everybody likes him that is around him, he also said they were literally pulling kids out of class to fill out the WR position that last year he played at Wyoming.  Said he had no one to throw to.  Looking back the reports on Rosen was he was a jerk and wasn't liked by his teammates.  I took Rosen off my board when I saw him opening day against A&M.  They were down big and came back, Rosen was terrific in that game in the second half.  Gus Johnson could stop raving about him.  Rosen threw the go ahead score with under a minute left.  The whole UCLA bench was going nuts.  Something caught my eye though, Rosen was jumping up and down around the field by himself, no one was there to congratulate him.  I said right there his teammates can't stand him and really wanted nothing to do with him being the face of the Bills.

Actually quite the opposite for me in terms of the late 90s/early 2000 Yankees.  I always respected them and would root for them against the Braves.  I thought they were classy guys.

But they had a lot of steroid guys on those teams: Knoblauch, Clemens, Pettitte (I don’t think he was a big user and I still respect him but still), Dave Justice, Canseco, and I’m sure missing other names.

Add in Jimmy Leyritz I believe killed someone driving drunk in 2006.

As time has went on I totally agree with this perspective.  Classy guys that did all the little things required to win.  That team knew how to play baseball.  But at the time I hated them.  I was young and bitter, what can I say.

    22 hours ago, Gugny said:

Yes, I always respected the Yankees until they signed A-Rod.  The organization really took a downward turn once George was out of the picture.  It was sad to watch unravel.  Now, they're a pathetic organization.  I know they still make a lot of money and they still do well, but the organization is no longer universally respected.

I hate mega deals.  Despise them.  But it's just part of the game now for the big market teams who can afford to pay the luxury tax.  At least Lindor is solid defensively and offensively and has durability.  As you mentioned, neither Judge nor Stanton can say those things.

Alonso has been disappointing in this young season.  They're only 13 games in, so I'm hopeful that he'll warm up.  Last night's defense between him and JD Davis was horrible.  Conforto needs to show some consistency.  I'm sure it pissed him off that they gave Lindor a billion dollars and didn't give him the extension he was looking for.  But let's face it, we've been waiting for "Conforto to be Conforto," for years.  He's Mr. Potential until he can put a solid season together.

My son & I were watching the Mets game last night, what a sh*t show.  Is it me or do the Mets over the years have place no value on defense and are constantly playing people out of position?  I don't what Davis' natural position is but he is not a third baseman.  Smith is not a left fielder either.  He is a first baseman.  This team better get it figured out soon, or we will be looking at meaningless games by the 4th of July.

It's really a shame.  Ever since George fell victim to dementia and subsequently passed away, the Yankees team and fan base have lost nearly all the class they once had.

Even as a Mets fan, from the early 80s through the Joe Torre era, I always rooted for the Yankees unless they were playing the Mets.  I grew up in a Yankees household, so I watched them as much as I watched the Mets.  But once they signed A-Rod, I was out.  And since then, they have not been the respected organization they were under George's leadership.

Now their fans (not all, obviously) are no better than Philly fans.

Yankees aren't Philly/Dodger-level scummy.  But they're getting close.

I used to despise the Yankees, I mean I hated them back when they were going good.  The funny thing now is I look back at those 90's/early 2000's team now with admiration and respect.  But back in the day I used to hate them so much so even the few years the mets were tangling with the Braves for the NL East and the Braves would be playing an IL game with the Yanks, I would route for the braves even though I knew it would hurt the mets if the braves won.  Over time, I mean the Yankees are just another team now.  I mean my guess is they will win their 90 games.  I watch a lot of baseball and I bet a lot of baseball(I got the MLB package so I get most games) I am not big on Judge and I definately am not big on Stanton.  They strike out too much.  I am a big fundamental guy, I have coached my sons travel team since he was 8 years old(he is 17 now), the Yankees to me don't do any of the little things to win games.  Their situational hitting stinks and it starts with those two guys.  They have talent so they will win their games.

Us mets fans have our own problems.  I know it is early but I wasn't about the Lindor trade when it happened, I sure don't like the 10 year contract they gave that guy(although once the trade went down they had little choice) Guys like Stanton & Judge, I don't like for the same reason I am not crazy about Alonzo.  They strike out too much and have no idea how to situational hit.  You don't need a 3 run homer all the time.

From Albert Breer’s MMQB column today:

‘Here are 20 other things you need to know …

    1) When I had Dilfer on my podcast, he said that Jones has a “twitchy mind,” a reference to how fast he processes and plays. This, so you know, checks out with NFL people. One team told me that it asked him in April to recall the first thing they’d installed with him over predraft meetings, and Jones immediately spit out everything about the play. And remember, at this point of the process, these kids have a lot floating around in their heads, given the number of teams (and other people) they’re talking to. “He’s as smart as advertised,” said one exec. “I’d say borderline genius when it comes to football.”

    2) Obviously, the possibility that Jones would be in play has led to a lot of intrigue with the Niners at No. 3. The team’s brass is still swearing to other teams that they haven’t made a final decision on what they plan to do. Seem impossible? Sure it does, until you really think about it. Of course, Kyle Shanahan had a leaning when the trade was made. He’d done two months of work on those guys. It’d be hard not to have one at that point. But what if, for argument’s sake, Shanahan came to a comfort level with one of the three quarterbacks (beyond Lawrence and Wilson) that the Niners saw as first-rounders? And what if he said, I can see Mac Jones being my quarterback for the next 15 years? And what if he was also intrigued by Lance and Fields, but used Jones as the baseline, the I know I’m going to like what I get at No. 3 regardless guy? And what if that was just the starting point for a month of work to get to know all three and make the best call? That, it seems to me, would be a smart approach for a smart organization. And honestly, I think it is their approach.‘

    From Peter King’s column:

”3. SAN FRANCISCO. Today’s the last day of substance in fact-finding for the Niners, with GM John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan expected in Fargo at North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance’s second workout. The leader in the clubhouse is still Alabama’s Mac Jones, but that’s all Jones is. Credit to Lynch and Shanahan for keeping a tight lid on their preference. I keep coming back to Jones’ accuracy (his 77.4-percent season in 2020 is the most accurate in major-college history) and his touch downfield, with the best accuracy of the top five quarterbacks on passes thrown 20 yards or more downfield.

I think Shanahan will value accuracy and presence over athleticism and prefer Jones, but that’s not inside info—just my gut feeling.”

    https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/04/18/nfl-draft-rumors-fmia-peter-king/

The other thing I like about Jones is he didn't bail out and find an easy place to start.  He stuck it out at bama, I think he was the 4th string qb at one point.  That tells me he is a fierce competitor and doesnt mind being in a tough situation.  Why don't you like Fields?

  15. 9 hours ago, HappyDays said:

Chris Simms is a personal friend of Kyle Shanahan, and he has been adamant that Mac Jones will be the pick. Obviously Shanahan hasn't told him for sure but Simms knows how he thinks about the game. Shahanan almost won a Super Bowl with Matt Ryan. If he sees Mac Jones having that potential it makes sense.

Mac Jones is a better athlete than people give him credit for.  I think I read somewhere that his 40 time is faster than Allen's.  That really surprised me.

Also, what also struck me about the OP were TL's comments about getting married. He says that many people are saying he is nuts to do so at this time. The thing is CT, statistically, the nay sayers are correct. He got married weeks before signing a guaranteed contract that approaches 40 million dollars!!! Good luck with that in divorce court. Two kids is 25% of your gross income but I digress. He is getting married because HE wants to, despite the risks that he seems to be well aware of.

As for winning football games not being THE most important thing in the world.....he is techichally right. We are Bills fans, THE most loyal fans in the USA imo. We are starving for a Super Bowl win after 4 losses and decades of stupidity and neglect. WE are fanatics but surely even we know that other things matter more.

Btw, if Trevor falters (and I happen to think that he is a genertional talent and will be a superstar), the press will eat him alive. They will remember the interviews that he didn't give them. He probably knows this too and doesn't care.

    As always, jmo.

I know you know your college football, I just don't see a generational talent when I see Lawrence.  I don't know what I expect to see but I just don't see it.  I am not saying he is going to be a flop, there is something about his game that just doesn't impress me.  If Meyer had any balls he trade out of that spot, haul in a fortune and then use his first pick on Fields.  I could be wrong, I didn't like Allen coming out of college either and wanted them to pick Rosen.

I am not sure that is the case anymore, look at all the young good QBs in the league right now - Mahommes/Allen/Hurbert/Burrow/Mayfield/Jackson/Carr.  I would argue the QB situation has not been this good since the 83 draft.

We got a house on Lake George third week of August, going to Florida with the whole family including my sisters and BIL and his family in October, I am going to try to visit my friend in Orange County super bowl weekend and then head out to Vegas for that Sat/Sun/Mon for the game(hopefully flights arent too expensive as LA is hosting the super bowl this year) & had to cancel our Aruba trip last spring so my wife and I (no kids) are going to head out there in April then for my son's graduation present next summer we are going to go on a little road trip hit a bunch of MLB ball parks(hopefully Minn/Both Chicago's/Milwakee/Detroit/Cinci/Cleve).  Always wanted to do something like that.

Degrom is going to be an intersting case study for the hall of fame.  He is not going to have nowhere near the wins he should have but...he is going to have numerous cy youngs to stats.  I think he gets in but he is not even going to hit 200 wins in his career the way his luck goes.
