  1. I have been working in the energy industry (specifically energy efficiency) for over ten years and have reached a point where I genuinely don’t like it. I stated in lighting, which I was good at, I enjoyed the people I worked with etc.  then Covid hit and people moved on and eventually I did too.

I took a semi management type position with a tech startup that was good for a while but they made it clear they were going to force everyone to relocate to Denver so I took my current job.

I was hired to take on a very specific contract and the work was exactly what I was comfortable doing and I enjoyed it. My second child was born when I started this job and I was making the best money of my career. About a year later (a year ago) I was told rather abruptly that my company didn’t do some paperwork properly (before I was even hired) and I was now no longer eligible to work on the contract (govt contract) so once that ended I was doing some random work on projects, but the work we were doing wasn’t really in my skill set, we bid on and won a few contracts that I was working on but they haven’t worked out like the company hoped (not enough work essentially). A few weeks ago my boss called me and told me that he’s just not sure there’s going to be enough work in my current role and to “take care of myself”. He suggested talking to HR and seeing if there was a different role at the company I might be suited for. I looked and nothing seems like a fit. I’m also getting the vibe, that something is off. I worried they are are going to let me go, maybe not in the next few weeks, but by year end. Essentially, I am tired of feeling like a square peg in a round hole and wondering if I would be better off in a new field.

Has anyone ever done a late 30s career change? How did it work out?

I applied to a bunch of jobs in the last few days to protect myself, but if anyone is hiring…

Josh Gordon got suspended once for having a drink after the regular season ended. His league imposed suspension banned him drinking for the season. He misunderstood and posted a picture of himself on an airplane with a drink. The league tested him when he got off the plane and extended his suspension. He thought he could have the drink because the Browns season had officially ended, but it was through the end of the league year.

Gordon’s biggest sin was lying to Goodell in their face to face. Or at least not keeping joe word to him. He got hammered for everything after that. I heard he was running with a bad crowd and he got tagged for “purple drank”, weed and that drinking violation. He could’ve been one of the absolute best, but effed it up.

Josh Gordon was such an immense talent. He had HOF talent. Goodell went too far with him IMO

    Disagree on Vrabel, unfortunately.

I think he's going to make them good pretty quickly. Whether they will become better than that will largely depend on Maye, I think, and how good he actually is.

Maye won one game that he started and finished. I get that team wasn’t good and coaching was worse, but I didn’t see a dude elevate his team like some of the elite guys

I think he's a bit overrated.  He'll be a good culture guy there, but as a coach, I think he's kind of middlin'.  He benefitted greatly when the Titans had those good years from having excellent coordinators, and Tannehill playing the best football of his life.

Yup. He will be better than Mayo was for sure. Vrabel is a good coach, but I don’t think he’s some genius that’s gonna revolutionize the league. In Tennessee, he handed the ball to Derek Henry 400 times a year

I’ll give Vrabel and Wolf this, they are cleaning house on guys that don’t fit what Vrabel wants or expects. We’ll see how it plays out and whether it backfires or not

Put me in the group that expects the Pats* to be a middling team for 3 more years

As long as Jordan Love is the quarterback I don't see it. But good on Gutenkunst for taking a big swing I guess

I’m a big Jordan Love fan. He is a lot like Allen was a few years ago. Very boom/big play potential but sometimes too careless with the ball. If he can learn to take care of the football, he will be an MVP candidate

People are sleeping on him big time again, which you have seen play out before with Brady. His last two years have been fairly meh, but would I be suprised if he drops a 40 TD year? Not in the least. The Chiefs aren't going away as much as people like to be trendy and predict it.

I hope they get swept by the Raiders

Without any franchise QB, all teams struggle.

Right? People act like Gardner Minshew would lead the Chiefs to the SB because their defense is so good.

Allen covers a lot of issues, but the team is very good.

The man sucks in rounds 1-3 but is great in 4-7 which makes him a decent GM. My biggest gripe with Beane is this team lacks blue chip talent and this is a biproduct of struggling to draft blue chip talent in premium rounds 1-3. Beane is struggling to build a great defensive line despite spending a lot of money and premium draft picks along the defensive line. Hopefully Beane hits on Jackson, Sanders, and Walker.

It’s not he’s missed a bunch of top 5 picks. Constantly picking 30 means you are not getting blue chip talent typically

I don't think it's that deep, dude. We have had months to bring him back and he even sounded like he hoped we would. We didn't.

I think the Bills saw his play last year and decided to move in a new direction.

As they should have. Dane Jackson is done too.

Some sign young fast guys and lets go

lol I understand what you meant, i just feel with where Milton was drafted it wouldn’t even be an issue. Purely development and backup, now if he was a first round pick? Sure, there might be some sentiment where there could be an issue. Even then, with who Josh is and how he plays, Milton (you would think) would be soaking it all in to learn from such a uniquely elite talent.

The Bills have no interest in developing a QB. It’s why Trubisky, who has not shot to start anywhere else, is the backup. Because he has played a ton of football and can help QB1 succeed. He can step in a run an offense on no reps and be successful.

How many 5th round QB develop behind starters like Allen and are traded for assets? 1 in 15 years? It’s simply not worth it. Give me a shot at Milano or Taron Johnson than a QB who would be behind a guy who hasn’t missed a game since 2018

I think there is a bit of a correlation here without causation.  The Bills have brought 4 guys in from UB since Beane took over.  They have 3 from Texas A&M, 3 from V Tech.  Just because Buffalo has brought UB guys in doesn't mean they allocate more assets to their viewings.  My guess, they video scout and then maybe check with the coaching staff at UB to learn about the players.

I'm just saying, from my internal knowledge of how scouting works, local colleges like Buffalo don't get scouted more just because they are close to the Bills

Can you imagine if we found out the Bills Scout UB more heavily than Alabama? Just becuase it was closer
