  1. But Darnold won’t beat out Big Ben next year and there’s no way they would pick up his 5th year option at this point, so how does it make sense for the Steelers? Makes no sense unless Roethlisberger retires, and I doubt he will.
  2. Cleveland traded a high 3rd for Tyrod and Miami gave away a 2nd for Rosen, so anything is possible, but I think you’re right. I personally wouldn’t trade anything of value for Darnold, but some team will probably give up a 3rd. Colts would be a great landing place for any QB. They have a very good defense, excellent OL, pretty good offensive weapons and a very good offensive-minded coach.
  3. Simms talks a lot about context when it comes to evaluating QBs; you have to look at the teams surrounding them. The three guys you’ve mentioned play for outstanding teams with a ton of talent around them. How do you think Brady or Brees would do playing for the Bengals or Chargers? (I think you have a better argument with Roethlisberger; the Steelers are a totally different team with him.) The Chargers have been crushed by injuries, bad coaching and a general lack of offensive weapons, and the Bengals are not much better. Brees, meanwhile, is a shell of his former self, although he’s still good enough to win games on a team with a great defense and running game.
  4. Until this year, no one would have batted an eye if the Cards folded...
  5. Neither has the second round....or the first, really, other than one pick...
  6. Because according to the OP, testing positive for a highly contagious respiratory virus is now a moral failing—just like coming down with the clap.
  7. That’s actually true, which makes it all the more maddening that Beane has used two third round picks on the position and we still don’t have a good one.
  8. Evergreen
  9. That’s exactly correct. I think it gets knocked down if Poyer doesn’t come in late.
  10. Uh oh...Tua looks very good...
  11. No, because you’ll never know how he caught the virus.
  12. Then why say it’s a “bad look” when you have absolutely no idea?
  13. Well that sucks. Local Portland CBS affiliate is now saying we get Dolphins-Chargers instead of Bills-Cards...🤮
  14. Yep, that’s the Bills for you; just spoiled for good luck...
  15. As I said, they had other priorities and QB was probably their position of least need at that time. They only had 40 players on the roster and had holes everywhere, except QB.
  16. How about Hyde/Poyer? These guys have been arguably the best safety combo in the league since they arrived as bargain free agents three and a half years ago.
  17. It’s amazing how overlooked Hughes has been here. The Bills got him for practically nothing, and he’s been by far the team’s best pass rusher since he walked in the door—and for much of that time he was our ONLY pass rusher. Hell, seven years later, he’s still our second best defensive player... Not just any third round pick—the FIRST pick in the third round. Amazing...
  18. The Pats liked Brady a lot, but the team was a mess and they already had Bledsoe and two other QBs in the roster. Brady was a part time starter at Michigan and he had an awful combine—showed up in poor shape and ran one of the slowest 40 times ever for a qb. The fact that they picked him at all (with a comp pick, of course) is a miracle and was a damn good job of scouting...
  19. It’s idiotic. I have no idea how it’s “fun”. Usually threads this silly occur only in the off-season...
  20. What would it take to start a dumber thread than this one?
  21. Baldy is the best...
  22. But how meaningful is that when most of the players near the ball ignored it because the whistle had blown and it was clearly an incompletion?
  23. But the whistle had clearly blown and the players on the field assumed it was an incompletion and just ignored the ball. Calling that a Ravens’ recovery is insane. But that seems to be what they did..
  24. Of course it wasn’t an int, but on top of that, even if it was, Peters fumbled it and I’m sure the whistle blew, so how do they give the ball to the Ravens?
