  1. Sorry for the lack of clarity. Didn't mean to suggest you hated him as a person. Thought that came across. Very clear that you really dislike him as a coach, that's all.
  2. The link on ESPN from Tim Graham says that the charges were dropped. This is going to be a non-issue. Would like to know what started the whole incident though.
  3. The "crap that's going on with Jackson?" I think everyone here agrees that paying your back-up running back who has played well above expectations, and who is going to have to start at least one game, which happens to be against our biggest division rival, should be getting paid more than the league minimum this year. Jackson has shown up and proved that he deserves a better contract with what he has done on the field. They rewarded Stroud and Evans for that, and I think it's time they coughed up for Jackson. At least give him 1.5-2mil a year. He's earned that. As for Jauron, I can only reiterate my previous post. Coaches acting like a-holes with their players doesn't frequently make those players want to show up and play. See the examples above.
  4. Completely agree. If the Bills have drafted a DE and OG I would strongly consider him in the third or fourth round, though he may be gone by the fourth when we pick. Still, Buffalo has huge needs at DE, OL, TE and OLB. I just don't see us taking an RB anywhere before the fifth or sixth round.
  5. This whole thing just sounds like a person who hates DJ finding more reasons to hate DJ. I suppose you'd rather Jauron start handling the Peters situation the way Josh McDaniels handled the Cutler thing out in Denver. Or maybe the way that Parcells handled the Jason Taylor thing last year. Sorry, but when coaches start calling out players before the season or over not showing up to voluntary workouts, it doesn't do any good. I for one am glad Jauron is leaving the negotiating to the negotiators and staying out of it.
  6. Simple answer. NO!
  7. As long as we don't draft him in the first round at #11. That would be a wasted pick. This guy just isn't worth that high of a pick IMO.
  8. That was with the blander "we only have one receiver that you really have to cover" scheme of last year. Adding TO will make his life significantly harder, and if you don't think the Bills will change up their offense for that game at all, or do so over the course of the season considering the strength of the weapons we have on the outside this year, you are fooling yourself. Last years tape won't make much difference in the first game of the season. I don't like playing them twice in the last 8 weeks when they have a ton of film from all of our games. Playing them away, early, gives us a chance to do some things they don't expect. I'm sure all the "Jauron's too dumb to do anything like that" comments are coming, but the fact is, I expect this to be a closer game. Still, I do expect that we'll lose, because we never play well on the road in NE. That being said, I would have expected us to lose this game anyway, so that doesn't change things. A win, however, particularly early in the year against your biggest current division rival, can have a huge impact on your season.
  9. Hangartner is not a backup C. He started 15 games at that position for Carolina last year on one of the better OLs in football. Buffalo is likely to spend draft choices early on both the OL and DL based on all the information coming out of OBD and the various NFL media outlets. No reason to doubt them at this point. Lastly, we have no idea whether Peters is going to hold out again or not. The Buff News reported earlier this past week that the team and his agent had strated a second round of negotiations with Peters, and the fact that he hasn't reported to the VOLUNTARY workouts is not a sign of a hold out. No one is saying TO is going to hold out because he hasn't shown up. I would prefer getting known commodities at skill positions rather than taking the 2-3 yrs required to groom a new guy. Then you only get two years of production out of him before his contract is up and they head out in FA. Buffalo has not spent any money on a "flashy" TE in years, and no Robert Royal doesn't count. They brought him in to block, which he was overrated at when they got him. Gonzo is both flashy in the receiving game, and is one of the best blocking TEs in the game. You talk about the OL needing help, Gonzo gives them some in that aspect of the game too. A solid blocking TE on the left or right side allows Walker and Peters to either double a teams best pass rusher, or rub off and pick up a blitzing linebacker, freeing the RB to get open in the flat as an additional passing target or allowing the RB to pick up a sixth blitzer from the outside. Sorry we can't all be as pessimisstic about adding players as you, but at least give credit where it's due.
  10. That would be great, but is our #11 worth two first rounders? It seems the value there wouldn't be right, but you would know better than me. Even with the switch in the third and fourth rounders it seems Philly would be getting fleeced.
  11. That steak is pretty tough to chew on no? I remember the glory days, and I'm not getting any younger. I don't like making predictions about any one game, particularly since we don't even know the entirety of the team that we will be putting on the field come that Monday Night Opener. That being said, I don't see Buffalo winning this game. I don't think it's going to be another 56-10 affair, since Bellicheat won't have any film of our offensive or defensive signal calling for the first half, but they'll be doing their work at halftime, and likely we'll be 0-1 to start the season. Of course, the last time we made the playoffs, we started out 0-3, so one game matters little that early in the season. It's just hard to be optimistic anymore. After the Draft and OTAs things may start looking up, but right now, we're going to lose that game.
  12. First of all, where is this Hangartner was a backup stuff coming from? Do you read? He was a STARTER at Carolina last year, not a backup, and they wanted to keep him, but they couldn't because they have tremendous salary cap problems down there. No one is pretending anything. Carolina had one of the best OLs in football in terms of run blocking and overall statistics last year, so to claim this guy can't play is ludicrous. That being said, I would still like to see the Bills draft one of Mack, Unger, or Robinson. Mack and Unger could play guard, or regardless of the Bills' "Commitment" to Hangartner playing center, he has a number of starts at the G position and could be moved to make way for Mack or Unger if that worked out. If not, the other two could play guard and be very good. Having guys that can play two OL positions is a luxury in the NFL. As for Robinson, no question the guy can play, and if he is available in the third round we should consider moving up to get him in the third. That wouldn't cost us much, and by that time, Buffalo likely will have addressed two of their other needs, i.e. DE, LB, DT, TE.
  13. The fact is that any of these three guys would be an improvement over Chris Kelsay or Ryan Denney. Any of the three of them would make me very happy, considering that Schobel has fully recovered from his foot injury from last season.
  14. Yes, because Jauron is the ONLY person who makes personnel decisions at OBD. Coaches don't pick the players, they make due with the ones the FO has signed and given them. How did this thread start turning into a Jauron bashing thing anyway? The fact is, Bell seems to be making a solid impression and he may see some time. Chambers would likely be serviceable at guard, but that wasn't Jauron's point. Try reading between the lines. What he's saying is, the starters we have are okay, not great, but okay. That's not a terribly incorrect statement. Assuming Peters starts, the line is, well, okay, with Peters-Chambers-Hangartner-Butler-Walker. Not the best line-up ever, but not the worst in the league either. And Jauron stated that Buffalo intended to see if there were other options in FA. Isn't that what everyone here's been whining about for the last week, that the Bills aren't looking around in free agency? Now they say they are and people are complaining that the coach is an idiot for looking into the FA market. Let's see where we are after the draft before we say the team sucks and it's all Jauron's fault.
  15. Hangartner can play at either position. Nothing says he has to play center, and if Buffalo could bring in a guy like Alex Mack, they'd be crazy not to. He looks like the best center prospect since Nick Mangold. That being said, if he's gone, Robinson or Ubrik would be excellent choices to help shore up the offensive line at the guard position.
  16. The article cited indicates that Goff is likely to play Right Guard for the Chiefs. That seems to indicate that they are set at left guard, the position Waters currently occupies. I read this as the Chiefs making a strong move to shore up a horrible offensive line to protect their new "franchise" QB rather than a signal that Waters is on the outs. Maybe that's true, but I don't think that the Goff signing is of any particular import on that issue.
  17. As Far as Edwards regressing last year, the statistics don't bear out your statement. As a whole, Edwards vastly improved last year in every statistical category. He has tremendous upside and with receivers on both sides of the field this year he will only get better this season. And please note, Edwards has not started 25 games yet. He has only started twenty. Let's see what he looks like over the first seven or eight games this year before we run him out of town. Continuity means a lot in the NFL. This year we finally have it. If Buffalo can't get to the playoffs this year, then we'll have to make some changes with the coaching staff and perhaps at QB too.
  18. Yes. But he's a worthless bum who led our team to victory over them last year. So does that mean that Cutler is an even more worthless bum? I guess.
  19. Probably just posturing, but I really hope they are being truthful. I mean, after all, do the Pats really need to buy another championship?
  20. Since we are likely to take a flyer on a TE in the third round anyway, I'd be okay trading it for Scheffler. A fourth is always better than a third, but in this case I don't think it matters much. We should be able to focus on DL and LB in the first two rounds, and get solid OL and DL prospects in the later rounds, and we have gotten a proven TE who can actually run routes and isn't afraid to catch the ball over the middle. That pretty much should put us in a position to make a push for a better than .500 finish next year. Assuming the O can produce up to par.
  21. As I said, Edwards sucked so bad last year he finished just behind Cutler statistically, and actually improved from his rookie season, whereas Cutler backtracked. But hey, why lets facts get in the way of a good old fashioned argument.
  22. Yeah, he sucked so bad statistically last year he was just barely behind Cutler. Oh wait ...
  23. Let's hope this is wrong.
