Attempted Abduction
at New York State Fair
The State Police at the New York State Fair are investigating an attempted abduction that occurred on 09/06/04 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Onondaga County 911 received a call that a male subject had taken a five year old girl while she stood in line with her mother at a booth on "Restaurant Row" at the NYS Fairgrounds. While her mother was completing a petition the little girl let go of her mother's hand. The suspect allegedly took the child by the hand and led her away from her mother. Her mother was able to recover the child unharmed. Witnesses then followed the suspect into the horse barn where he was apprehended by bike patrol Troopers Mark Bender and Dustin Hite. John B. Weiner, age 41 of 349 University Dr. Rochester, NY was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping 2nd.
