I see Hines Ward and the Steelers seem to be at odds. The USA Today has hines rated the #6 WR in the NFL. He's in his final year of his contract and wants an extension. He already turned down a very good offer from the Steelers. What you think, does he deserve top five money? I looked up his stats from last year and he only has 4 receiving TD's. But, this is coming from a rushing type of offense. Pittsburgh Steelers WR Ward turns down Steelers' offer Pro Bowler would have been highest-paid player in team history Thursday, July 28, 2005 By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Although they have not yet signed Hines Ward to a contract extension, the Steelers at least are trying to fulfill a promise to make their Pro Bowl wide receiver a priority. The Steelers made Ward an offer that would make him the highest-paid player in their history, a contract that may include their highest signing bonus, according to a source close to the negotiations. So far, Ward and his agents have turned them down. The source told the Post-Gazette the offer also would put Ward among a tier of receivers just below several of the highest paid in the league. The deal would include a signing bonus higher than the $8.1 million quarterback Kordell Stewart received in 1999. Although quarterback Ben Roethlisberger reportedly received a $9 million signing bonus as part of his rookie contract, some analysts peg it closer to $7.8 million in what technically would be a true signing bonus. But even if it were $9 million, the bonus the Steelers have offered Ward is close to it. No other contract details, including length and total, were provided. Ward and his agents have countered in negotiations that the four-time Pro Bowler should be paid relative to where he ranks among NFL receivers and not based on what the Steelers have paid their players in the past. A number of receivers the past several years have received signing bonuses of more than $10 million. His agents, Eugene Parker and Roosevelt Barnes, have taken a stance that Ward should be paid among the best wide receivers in the game, although they have not asked for him to be the highest paid. Ward, who has one year left at $1,668,750 on a contract he signed in the summer of 2001, made the past four Pro Bowls and shattered many of the Steelers receiving records during that time. Three times he surpassed the Steelers' previous record of 85 receptions in a season with a high of 112 in 2002. His 505 career receptions are second only to John Stallworth's 537 in club history. Ward, who lives in Atlanta, is scheduled to make a promotional appearance today in Pittsburgh and also was to talk to some coaches about his situation. Parker has declined to predict whether Ward will report to training camp on time Sunday.

An appraisal should not make your taxes go up, right? It's when the assessor comes and does an assessment on your house. That should happen every 3-5 years. -
Free-agent cornerback Ty Law, who said Monday that he's "very interested" in the Jets, also indicated that he expects to pay a visit to Weeb Ewbank Hall to take a physical and work out for team officials.

What's a gallon of milk cost? T-bone steak? Gas prices? -
Seen Ricky Williams on Sport Center last night and if you think he's out of shape your nuts! The guy looks like a rock! Ricky might not be in football shape right now but he looks like a friggen body builder. No doubt he took care of himself before coming into camp. He's going to look good in a Eagles uniform when he gets traded.

Well, did we upgrade it enough? Will JP's scrambling ability make the line look better this year? Was it all Bledsoe's fault? Can we keep Bennie Anderson under 400 pounds? Stay tuned, we will be getting answers shortly! I can't wait.

Bills | King Looking for His Shot Thu, 21 Jul 2005 11:36:48 -0700 Tom Worgo, of the Owings Mills Times, reports Buffalo Bills rookie CB Eric King is looking forward to getting back on the field for the team's training camp. "My goal is not just getting to the NFL," King said. "My objective is to be a player and future star in the league. I am going to bust my butt so I can put myself in that position." He made some eye-catching plays that impressed the Bills coaches and management during three spring Bills minicamps. "It's difficult to get rookies to settle down," Buffalo assistant general manager Tom Modrak said. "They are in awe of things. He came in with a great deal of confidence because he can make plays. He was intense about everything. He was very good at minicamp." Buffalo defensive backs coach Steve Szabo said King looked comfortable and confident even against starting offensive players. King will be competing for playing time as the team's nickel cornerback.

No whinning about Bledsoe from you this year! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA -
He's 32 and in his 11th year of the NFL.
-
He will have to. We have to many young good players to spend money on. Eric Moulds is how old these days?
-
I'm thinking this will be Eric's last year in Buffalo. If he won't take a huge paycut going into next season I'll bet he's history. I see no reason Lee Evans can't become our #1 WR. The only way Eric stays beyond this season if he has a super duper season. Just my opinion.

Nate Clements will want his payday. Can you blame him? If TD tells that to Nate he's history for sure. Nate deserves to get paid like a top 5 corner in the NFL. Terrence McGee is more likely to stay in Buffalo. I think TD will get him resigned.

Travis Henry is broke already after receiving his signing bonus from the titans.

I wonder what he's getting for money? Heck, that didn't take long!

Titans | Henry gets New Deal Tue, 19 Jul 2005 14:38:46 -0700 Titansonline.com reports Tennessee Titans RB Travis Henry has agreed to terms on a multi-year extension of his contract with the Titans. "We are excited about acquiring a player of this caliber for our roster," said Titans general manager Floyd Reese. "Travis is a dynamic back who will help us immediately. The combination of RB Chris Brown and RB Travis Henry puts us in elite company in terms of talented backfields. I don't know that it will matter who starts, because I envision both players making significant contributions throughout the season." Henry will join the rest of the Titans who will report for training camp next week.
