Sam Darnold lost some serious generational wealth over last eight days.

He's reminding me of Frank Reich's last season with the Bills. Kelly got hurt late in the season, Reich played the final games and not staying on the bench cost him millions.

Yes, and the best part of the story is that Denver, having just given Keenan a big contract, didn’t want to waste a high draft pick on a raw QB prospect from the Univ of Wyoming…😃

Yep, they decided it was either draft B. Chubb or trade the pick to the Bills. They never considered drafting a 1st round QB that year because Case was their QB.

  3. This past year's QB class may end up being up there with 1983.  Daniels already looks like a big hit in Washington.  Williams, who knows until another year or 2.  Maye looks like a good one as did Nix & a little bit of Penix looked like he has potential.  Then there's McCarthy.  If Darnold does well in the playoffs, McCarthy could be traded for a #1 this offseason.  As a 6th rounder Milton was impressive against the Bills scrubs.

The real loser was the NYG who could have drafted Nix, Penix or McCarthy.  Instead they drafted a WR & have nobody to throw him the ball.  Now he was a very good WR, but the team still needs a QB in a bad QB drat year when drafting below 1 or 2.  2023 was the year to get your QB, just like 2018 appears to have been, even though the Jets & Browns, Jets & Brownsed and gave up on their 2018 QB busting on their replacements.

There was a ton of hype around that offseason though. The “build a bully” quote. The Kiko/McCoy trade. Matt Cassel. You can’t say it wasn’t exciting.

I remember the day they signed Tyrod.  Glowing reports from Baltimore & Rex having "inside information" from his Baltimore buds.  I immediately got on the Tyrod bandwagon & penciled him in as the starter because with those reports, he had to be better than Cassel or EJ.  I even sent an e-mail to my friend Petrino titled "We've found our franchise QB" & all I put in the e-mail was a picture of a tie-rod.  He hadn't heard of the signing & replied asking me why I sent him a photo of a car part proclaiming that we had found our franchise QB.

Every team is interviewing Byron Leftwitch, who is currently out of football, to satisfy the Rooney Rule and move quickly.

Aaron Glenn who is interviewing with a lot of teams, refused to interview with NE because he knew it was a sham so they could move quickly on Vrabel.  Too bad there were other guys willing to interview for a job they had no shot at.  Big respect for Glenn, no respect for Leftwich.

Damn. That’s a bummer. He’s played well for us on the year.

Only one gaff but he immediately recovered the ball and didn’t look jittery the next punt/s.

It's a contingency move.  Nothing is definite, but the Bills are prepared if Codrington can't go.

If Virgil has to be the returner, it's a revenge game for him since he was cut by Denver before he signed with the Bills.

I am not convinced they don't make the playoffs if Fields played all year.  Tomlin can make the playoffs but he seems to be content with that.  Just seems like there is no urgency in Pittsburgh to get  more than a middling QB.  Maybe they just can't develop QBs since Ben retired.

It's tough to get a franchise QB when you're above .500 every year & have no desire to trade up into the top 10.  It might be on the GM and owner, not necessarily the coach.

Let’s not compare 2025 to the 1990s.  We didn’t have big high-definition TVs back then.  Frankly I’m surprised so many people still go to games, but that’s just me.

I had seasons in the ‘90s.  Paid my dues.  At my age I’m more than happy to kick back and watch in the comfort of my home with an unobstructed view, a private bathroom, and no postgame traffic.

Also, nobody standing in front of you the whole game. That & the fact I'm too old to handle hours in cold temps has basically ended my days of going to games in Buffalo.  If I go to a game, it will have to be in the front row where I can stay seated the whole game and it has to be early in the season.  The last Bills home game I went to was opening day 2021.  People were standing the entire game & I couldn't take it anymore.

I never really minded the traffic when I went to all the games until my late 50s, even when I had to drive back to Albany & go to work the next day.

Back in the '90s it was the same thing.  You could buy tix for $5 in the lots prior to the game in the last couple of our Super Bowl years.  I had a few extras one year and literally couldn't give them away out front.

The bar has been raised as it should be.

For those too young to remember: The comeback game was blacked out because it didn't sell out.

After consecutive years of playoffs, the wild card game isn't much of an attraction.

I remember the video where Gray and another were scouting Elam, in a room watching tape of him. “Im with you, ______. I think this guy can help us.” Hope we get those 3rds!

If he was responsible for Elam:oops:, I'd be willing to give up two 3rds just to get rid of him.  If anyone in Tennessee sees the video, we're stuck with him.
