Bruce Smith ... did he ever serve a 4-week
Albany,n.y. replied to merlin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It most likely was coke, as posted earlier. Bruce went into a rehab facility when he was suspended and they don't do that for weed or steroids. Remember something else-the incident when Polian was having Bruce followed by a PI. They wouldn't have been doing that if it was steroids. On weed, when Robb Riddick was suspended it was for that and he basically just blew it off and said he didn't need any rehab. -
Nice editing job

He couldn't say the real reason he had a hunch on Lawyer Ron, his thought: When I killed a guy named Ron, I needed a lawyer.

When do they announce UDFA signings?
Albany,n.y. replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They usually announce them the 1st day of minicamp. I'll ask another ? that might not get answered-When does minicamp start? -
There are a lot of contenders. I see no standout. The Oaks/Derby DD and p-3s may be the best shots for multiple chances In the Oaks its either 7) Wonder Lady Anne L or 8) Wait a While, with 12) Ermine having a slight chance. I don't like Balance because I think the Cal fillies are a bad bunch & Balance was exposed in her last as such. In the Derby my top horse is 8) Barbaro, but its not a major endorsement. Other contenders include 5)Point Determined-who I would have liked more but has received negative clocker comments for his gallops and failure to change leads since he got to CD. 7) Bob and John, 10) AP Warrior, 16) Cause to Believe-also getting negative clocker comments but a contender on paper having beaten Sinister Minister & AP Warrior in NoCal. and 18) Brother Derek. If you like pick 3s on Derby day 7)Behaving Badly looks good in the 8th race and 3)Cacique looks good in the 9th.

Leinart is now dating Paris Hilton

Just like Joe Namath. It really hurt him in Super Bowl III. -
What should the Bills do with Clements?
Albany,n.y. replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You pay him the franchise $ this year & see what you have in this year's draft during the season. If he's expendable, you try to trade him & if not, let him go UFA. If you didn't find his replacement in this draft, you sign him to a long term big $ deal. There is no other answer to the question. -
He's saying we should have drafted Leinart & that Whitner was his 8th rated safety.

Edit, oops it's www.wham1180.com You don't even have to register like WGR makes you do-I'm listening on the web right now.

Should be interesting, he called for Levy to be named GM & will probably be bashing him big time tonight.

People who are saying we should have drafted
Albany,n.y. replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't disagree more. We're not winning the Super Bowl next year, and with your philosophy, we probably never will. However, if we improved the QB position in the middle of a rebuild, we might just win the Super Bowl 3 years from now. I guarantee you if our QB play is bad enough to get us the top pick in the 2007 draft, the Bills will not pass on Brady Quinn, no matter how little impact he has in the 2007 season. Impact QBs are almost never available via free agency. The only reason Brees (FA) and Culpepper (Trade) were available this offseason was because each was coming off a devastating injury. Find one other season where a FA QB was available who could be counted on to win. Carolina got very lucky that NO couldn't properly evaluate QBs as evidenced by their letting both Bulger & Delhomme get away in favor of Aaron Brooks. Our GM's philosophy when he was head coach was that your best "new" starters are the previous rookie class. Dwight Adams says you start at QB-They are both right. -
People who are saying we should have drafted
Albany,n.y. replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know exactly what I'm saying-With the 8th pick in the 2006 draft, the Buffalo Bills should have selected Matt Leinart. His arm strength is not any different than Tom Brady's, and the last time I looked, Brady is doing ok with the weather in NE. I have only one question: In 5 years who will be the best of these three QBs-Leinart, Losman, Nall? My answer is Leinart, if you don't answer Leinart, then you can justify not drafting him. But if your answer is Leinart, the Bills should have drafted him because no matter what anyone says, your most important player is your quarterback. I base my judgement on Leinart on the one pattern I've found that pinpoints success in drafting QBs-if a QB would have been a 1st round pick in his jr year, stayed in school and maintained his 1st round status, his success rate is most likely 100%. Look it up & find me a 1st round bust who qualifies-there aren't any! In the Q&A with Dwight Adams, he stated you build a team around the QB-I agree with Mr. Adams. The Bills should have drafted Matt Leinart. Can you honestly say you believe, with great confidence that this team can be built around, JP Losman, Craig Nall or Kelly Holcomb? I can't. That's what I'm saying-and I know what I'm saying! -
Mr. Irrelevant: That's exactly where Vick will be drafted-the Raiders have the last pick in the draft. Typical Al Davis pick, unless Seattle or Cincinnati-the two teams who year after year draft more thugs without regard to character than any other teams, get him 1st.

Dwight Adams answered your questions...
Albany,n.y. replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He wasn't here by the time Mularkey got here. The only way Mularkey ever gets another head coaching job is if there's a fire while all the coaches are together in the film room, and he's the lone survivor. He probably would be too, because he'd take the coward's way out while the rest of the guys burned-that's how he coached this team last December-only caring about himself. -
Detroit had a great draft, Joey Harrington was the right choice at #3-That's true if you count longevity-he lasted longer with Detroit than the next guy picked-Mike Williams

Interesting: Did Marv just pick three...
Albany,n.y. replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was Butler who shied away from underclassmen. When Polian was our GM, there weren't that many underclassmen in the draft-You'd have to see his Carolina & Indy drafts to see if he stays away from underclassmen. -
Sapp & Lynch are not Hall Of Famers. You've sunk to the level of some of those in the media who are always calling above average players Hall Of Famers. It doesn't make them HOFers. Meanwhile, Whitner & McCargo are POTENTIAL Hall Of Famers, as are all players drafted until proven otherwise.

Eric Winston might still be there in the 3rd

He never would have been there at 42. My draft guides are better than your draft guides

We have pick 70. That's in the 3rd round-WAKE UP!

The same guy who was Travis Henry's agent, was confirmed through photos doing bowling ball shots in our parking lot & in a drunken rage threatened to screw the Bills for their treatment of TH. I'm glad TD's gone because he has no animosity towards Marv.

We should have drafted Siupeli Malamala
Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would have traded the pick & moved down to Denver's 15 or Philly's 14, if I had Marv's mindset of no QB. If Whitner was gone, I would have traded down again & drafted McCargo somewhere later in the 1st round or if I couldn't trade down further, drafted McCargo at 14 or 15 (I know, big reach-but I'd be using Marv's board). If that happened I'd go to my next S or OT on the board to draft. It's obvious that Winston Justice wasn't high on the Bills board. Personally, since I think Leinart is the next Tom Brady, I'd have taken Leinart & dumped one of our top 3, probably JP even though the salary cap hit would have been huge. I can't fault Marv beyond not trading down in the 1st, if someone else wanted Whitner early, Marv is right. If JP & Nall bust and Leinart is a star, Marv blew it, but with our line maybe Leinart wouldn't be a star here. So, basically, I'm still trusting Marv at this point, he's got a lot better info than I do. -

I'll list 2-NFL Draft Scout's final mock draft had McCargo going at the exact pick we took him. Russ Lande (GMjr) had McCargo rated DT #2, ahead of Bunkley.
