Josh Allen - week TWELVE report card
Fixxxer replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
B Clean game by him, he is looking more comfortable with the latest changes on offense, less Lee Smith & DiMarco, and more 11 personnel groupings and with Kroft seeing more playing time. Keep feeding Motor and Gore and we're good. He had a bad interception, but overall a good day decision making wise. Beasley and Brown had a drop each that could have extended a couple of drives in the third QTR. Both TD passes were great, the one to Beasly, he knew he had to wait for Beasley to break the post route and took big hit while delivering a perfect ball. The pass to Smoke was beautiful and it's something we were waiting for all year, I can't believe the refs ruled it an incompletion. -
Whatever happened with Jags defense? Marrone's job might be in jeopardy this year.

John Brown is leading the AFC in receiving

Michael Thomas with a 88% catch percentage is insane. John Brown is at 65% in case people were wondering. BTW, John Brown career catch percentage average before this year is 50% -

“One-Hit Wonders” for every NFL Team
Fixxxer replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brandon Spoon is the quintessential one hit wonder In 2001 Started 14 games out of 14 games had two ints and two defensive TDs. (that was a rookie record at the time, IIRC) 4 passes defended 40 solo tackles 25 ast tackles and 7 tackles for loss. Never played another NFL down again. -
If Playing Time is earned, why not Un-earned! (edited)

Lee Smith is a mauler in the run game, focus on him when we run the ball and you will notice him, having said that, if we're asking Josh to pass the ball 40 times, Smith should not be in the gameplan, he could use some timeout for his ill timed penalties. Frank Gore, I wouldn't sit him, he's a veteran and his presence on the field (for at least this year) should not be messed with. Wallace is struggling and could some time in the bench, let him re-focus and let him re-gain his starting status. -
Some will call your post naive, but I like it. In the off-season fans yelled they wanted a modern offense, passing in the NFL is the way to win games, ground and pound is for dinosaurs or for toe lickers, your offense needs to be innovative. After a couple 40 pass attempt games, people are convinced they need to be a running football. I hate that we lost Sunday. I feel every part of the team had a low point in the game where they caused this to be an L in the column. The offense lacks rhythm because we have a second year raw product trying to develop as a franchise QB, people complain about Daboll, but you see people open in passing game, then you see this offense is very prolific in the redzone (we rank 2nd in scoring percentage there) but the bottom line this offense needs to score more points as the defense needs to force more turnovers. Every aspect of this team can still get better.

Phins at home won't be a gimmie Broncos have a defense that can ruin your day, they have an Allen at QB now (do they fall from trees?) that might be able to make some plays Jets might be without Gase in the final game of the year and the interim coach will get those guys ready. The NFL is a week to week league, anything can happen.

You know what, not to be contrarian, but I believe Daboll deserves a gameball because his gameplan allowed the team to score on their first three drives, if not for Allen's sack we could have scored three TDs instead of two. He featured Motor (another gameball winner), ran the ball more than he passed it and used misdirection with McKenzie. He was conservative in the second half, even though we went for it twice on 4th downs, there were a couple of penalties, the other team adjusted well but we sealed the game with Motor's TD drive. The only critique I have is, we could have used more PA given how well Motor was running the ball. The Redskins strenght was defense and Daboll came up with a good gameplan, IMO. Gameballs Motor Daboll Roberts Tre White.

A Few Thoughts about the Redskins Game, in no particular order
Fixxxer replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The front seven had a very bad first half trying to stop the only weapon the Redskins had on display today, but the DBs should take some part of the blame too. Taron Johnson missed two easy tackles on him and Wallace tried to go up on AP and was steamrolled for a first down. The whole team adjusted and they got better in the the second half.
