Thanks for the link....I didn't realize we could look back that far. Golly, optimism was high this time last year wasn't it? It's a little like the flip side of the same coin.

I'm not so sure about that....though perhaps you meant the comment more moderate than it sounded. You bias things by saying year 3(esp. on a thread talking about JPs experience). Really, he has only had 8 NFL starts with lesser college experience than most. I would think(esp. since he is 'raw') that all he really need do this year is to show improvement(mainly in the mental side of the game). In comparison to teams developing QBs, 1.5 years as a starter will probably still give JP some leeway as long as he is showing improvement. I'm hoping this year the lights turn on for him but....realistically it will probably happen in 2007....with improvements this year.

This is my first pre-season game while being on TBD. I've noticed that (IMO ridiculously) after 1 quarter of the 1st team playing vs. a real opponent, with new players, coaches, systems, management etc, there are heaps of people(& threads) predicting the end of the world(figuratively speaking of coarse ). My question is this.... If we had beaten Carolina, would TBD be flooded with over the top, thoughtless, people & threads predicting 'playoffs baby' or is this reaction restricted to the pessimists?

Are you serious? You are aren't you? That's fantastic! Yep, McGahee is a hack. 2004 14th in the league off 11 starts 2005 10th in the league & was not in on 3rd downs, goaline & running behind our O-Line with our passing game not helping. You guys are funny.

I'm not saying JP is the new Elway but.... Wasn't what you wrote above 'the' big knock on Elway for years & years? What difference does it make? He is a young QB learning how to play NFL football. He will not be perfect(or even good) in every aspect of QBing....hell, not even the greats were perfect in every aspect. If he improves in enough areas, he can still be a top QB & you might still be saying..."He needs to learn when to throw rockets" or he needs to become more accurate etc.

Carolina scored on their first drive.
Dibs replied to LevysEraII's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, no, hang on....let's think this through. The Panthers....a superbowl favourite scored against us on their first drive & then did nothing. All last season, the Bills scored on their first drives & then did nothing. That means..... We won the superbowl last year??? NO...that means....um....the Panthers are schit like the last years Bills??? Um...your right, it doesn't mean anything. Whew, I thought for sure it meant we were schit. -
I didn't see or listen to the game so all I have to go by is reports(thanks all) & stats. I think perhaps the first Panthers drive psychologically stuck in the mind of the fans(Bills) who saw it because the rest of the defensive game seemed really quite alright. Surely the fact it was 'the first' drive the new Defense played should get them some slack. I've copied below what I wrote in another thread....because it looks nice. I know it's only the first pre season game....& Defense gells quicker than Offense.....& we were playing against second & third stringers etc but.... When you look at the Carolina Drive charts, it is certainly a possitive. Touchdown Punt Punt Punt Punt Punt Fumble Punt Fumble Punt Punt

No wonder they call him Billy, Guy as a guys name is just plain wrong.

Yeah, I've read a few comments on the lack of TE usage in the game. Does anyone know how RR looked(if he was even out there today)? -

Also to earn the respect of his peers rather than be just handed the job. I'd like to see JP out there with Evans, Price, Parrish & McGahee and some more group cohesion from the O-Line. -

1st drive of the 1st pre-season game, yes.....but 8 punts & 2 fumbles were their next 10 drives. You could at least wait a week or two before you right the defense off. -

Thanks fot that. That was awesome. -
Ummm, I don't think we had any. The only obvious conclusion one can make from that is....JP wasn't in at QB in the first quarter. Go JP!!!!

Sounds like you'll have more fun than the kids. -
I hate it when that happens Thanks for the numbers.

Isn't it great. I love it though, when you defend said player for being unfairly criticized, and are abused for it. Even better is when it is then assumed you like the defamed player better than his counterpart....which you don't....you just don't think hating a guy for not being great is the way to go.

Sure do. I played football with a guy named Guy....& what a guy he was. My first hitting drill(ever) he went straight for my knees. Needless to say he was not a popular guy on the team(though he was the only Guy). "What a Guy." became a common phrase whenever he was around. IMO, a guy named Guy is even less trustworthy than someone with two first names....like Peter David.....or Richard Dick(I have worked for a Richard Dick recently....what were his parents thinking?)

Not that it's a big deal but....MW was a Bill before McNally. It seems to me a huge error MM might be guilty of was to not stand up to TD. I can easily see TD imposing himself into the coaches decisions. I agree MM might not be as bad as everyone here says but.....as HC last year, he did a terrible job. Over-thinking, second guessing second guesses, very poor play calling, very poor personel decisions, etc, etc. Maybe in a few years time when given a second go by some team he will do alright....maybe even brilliantly, but his performance last year was a failure.

I suppose he could have said it was alphabetically based. Either way does seem a little odd.

AAARRRRGGGGHHHH people are talking about the 2000 pro bowl. The pro bowl before the season the Pats first won the Superbowl...the 2001 season. No probowlers from that 5-11 team which was considered worse generally than our 2005 5-11 team & players rated worse than ours. Brady & Vinitieri were unknown while Bledsoe & Woody would not greatly contribute to their 2001 success. I posted this before but you ignored it. Here it is again for you to ignore. For impartiality's sake I'll list PFWs annuals 'rated' players for the 2001 Patriots & the 2006 Bills. Not that I agree with the ratings but it is a decent unbiased comparison for you to see how biased perhaps you are. 3.0=solid starter 4.0=probowl level player Obviously rookies are not rated....note: punters are not rated. Patriots 2001 Woody 3.0 Bledsoe 3.0 McGinest 3.0 Law 3.0 Milloy 3.5 Bills 2006 McGahee 3.7++ Schobel 3.0 Fletcher 3.25- Spikes 3.95 McGee 2.9+ Clements 3.0 Do you realize that ignoring valid arguments is not the same as countering them? Just asking.

Where'd they go?

What? I was sure JP was starting. DJ was so clear on the subject. Oh well....at least I was right with my second choice.

Ooooh, he's building up for a big one. He's gonna blow!!!
