  1. Maybe the one's who are fat and out of shape, but that goes with any race group. I bet at $50 an hour more 2/3 stay that are in any kind of shape. Hell, I am over $40 and will do, the folks you are talking about are doing it for minimum wage. A picking and packaging plant in western, ma pays $10-$15 dollars and hour and a lot of locals do it, but it is a burn out job, destroys your back. However, migrant workers that travel with their families and pick together. If you are a gypsy type then it works for you, but if you want to put down roots forget about it, because it is seasonal only. At $50 an hour you could afford to be seasonal and still live in the area. My wife is an OR nurse on her feet 8 hours a day, I am photographer and during a job, I am on my feet 8 hours with lots of gear slung over my shoulder. Picking like this would be about the same and I would easily do it for $50 an hour for the consistency of the working hours. But I don't want to have to travel too far to get to the job nor live like gypsy.
  2. And your point is... seriously, Obama got in the way of Bill, which is why folks got tired of him towards the end of his term. Not sure Hillary would be quite this way if were not for Bill, but I don't doubt that there are some who want to make this happen.
  3. Now that is what I call positive campaigning, I don't know what the preacher is complaining about.... He should check his scripture... Thou Shall Celebrate a Woman's body... and not disparage double Ds.
  4. And here if you forgot what it looks like.... http://www.afischerphotography.com/specialevents0016.html Problem is she never consistently lost that disdained expression implanted from dealing with Bill
  5. And that is the reason it could never happen because the answer to those question have very different implications. And what about imported goods, how would you tax them if you did tax domestic manufacturing on each transaction. I don't think that you differentiate between goods and services, they would all constitute transactions. The value would have to be taxed. The simple way would be to tax after a finished product would be used and that transaction would be taxed, but it would give too many loopholes to corporations, so that doesn't work either. Not sure, don't have a good answer.
  6. Transaction based taxes can be manipulated to, then we get the government deciding what we can and cannot buy through tax policy. Interesting dilemma. I would support a flatter tax transaction based tax, using maybe three for four brackets based on personal and business income. Problem is it would be a pain to implement. However, lower classes would pay no sales tax, lower mid pay some, upper mid pay a lot and wealthy pay the highest. Anything bought overseas would be subject to the tax. You could eliminate all fed income tax. Cap gains taxes should be included in this, but paid only when said gain was sold, also, I believe they should be low kept low no matter the income. It should be a transaction tax though, not a use tax. Still thinking about all these proposals implications for business and personal. Non of it is likely to happen in my life-time.
  7. Hey AD you up for some hockey, a real man's sport, give blood. Everyone on this board thinks you are one tough SOB, so can you back it up?
  8. Me TOO! a P.S. Moved to NYC suburbs.... Wife's family lives there,... it happens, and hey it is the political season again. But really, I am getting less partisan. I just don't like McCain and have some good Republican friends in DC willing to do whatever to defeat him. On the other hand it appears there are some Clinton supporters willing to do whatever to defeat O'bama. Your hope for a fracturing of the parties may yet come to pass. My pick would have been Chuck Hagel. The real reason that I didn't post much was that I had a real job for a while and couldn't post. Also, just missed GhostofBiB (RIP). Now I am starting my own business as a photographer. www.fischerwilliamsphoto.com. Need to update the site already to deal with new realities of flash and do some other stuff with it. So while I work on photos, I keep this up a separate screen. If anyone needs a photographer in the NYC metro area, look me up. P.S. Thank God the Patriots lost last year, the silence in Mass was deafening. Also, the hockey and football are really my favorite sports, politics has become second fiddle.
  9. It is more than an image problem, he doesn't appear to be engaged unless the heat rises and he has to respond. Now I know he is a smart guy, so it isn't one of brain power. It comes across as not caring, but I am not sure that is correct. Even when he does respond verbally, and I am not talking about what he is or is not doing, but his verbal responses make matters worse for him even when I believe he is doing the right thing. I am to the point that I can't even listen to him anymore and soon I won't have to, but that is what happened with Katrina, his responses reinforced every attack ever written about him. He comes across as defensive and not caring, which I am sure is not the case, but like Gore's wood like appearance in front of a TV camera, Bush's deer in the headlights look and pathetic resentful lecture when asked for more details is his downfall.
  10. Agreed, but it was the WHs reaction that pissed folks off. If Bush had devoted more time, not come off as an out of touch imbecile and fired his FEMA guy right away or even before it happened this might have been okay. His sending that General in with the guards was a great thing, but then the FEMA crap kept happening and Bush appeared to be disengaged, hence as leader, why he became such a lightening rod for criticism.
  11. -2.12 -2.67 Just left of center and mildly libertarian, no surprise there.
  12. Must be a Ted Stevens thing?
  13. Rendell has a point about the one sideness of MSNBC because Matthews has had a hard on for the Clintons for the last 16 years. That being said, I don't think Matthews is in the tank for O'Bama, just a flat out Clinton hater. I am not sure fully how he feels about McCain and I surely would not make such a monolithic statement. Obermann is an obvious Bush Basher, not there is anything wrong with that. He is just the flip side of oxy boy feel that Rush. So what, take it with a grain of salt and enjoy the humor.
  14. I think you are right about that,... but then the draama continues. Noice, this sucks.
  15. Blanco reportedly asked, if I remember correctly, although not with the appropriate form in bureaucratic triplicate. Please that is just an excuse. Bush's executive orders have overridden much more. His folks should have coordinated everything anyway and once again it would have shown real leadership, instead he acted out or partisanship. And Nagin was just plain incompetent. The sad part is this could have been a coup for Bush and half of what was being said about his disinterest would have gone away.
  16. Ok, got the smiley.... Honestly, not sure God cares that much about either convention, kinda like the football player pointing at the sky after a good catch. What is more important is what is in his or her soul.
  17. Wacka, are you God? ... remember if you are not, "Thou Shall Not Judge" Only God can make that decision. I am not going to argue your previous point, I don't know, I am not God but I would tend to agree with you.
  18. Maybe... At this point it might be cheaper to bench him even than the lawsuit. So does that mean he is going to report? Because the Bills don't need to do anything with him other than recoup his salary and signing bonus if he doesn't. If he doesn't report soon, I would put off negotiating with him for two years. And if he still doesn't report, I trade him halfway into season that third season. He will be going into what his 7th season at that point and be label disgruntled. As much as it hurts the Bills, it will kill Peters chance of making any serious money. Although he will probably make more money or already has made more than I in my lifetime. Which is why I resent that whole thing.
  19. Sure, but the market changed since then with Dockery, Walker and Peters' on field performance. Use some common sense and cut a deal halfway, add a year or two give him a bonus, and if he is still intractable, go public and make sure that he never works again in the NFL. Carrot and Big Stick.
  20. JMAC??? Now that is a hoot of a moniker.
  21. Now, now Wacka, who is only remembering half the story. Yes Bush asked, but he wasn't required to. If the White House was that concerned, they could have ramrodded this through and that would be called leadership. In fact, he was silent until he had that helicopter flyover. The mayor of NO was just as incompetent, but the WH has the resources and could have used that thing called leadership to respond a whole lot better. Kinda of like he did during 911, until his advisors got to him and they decided to make about the need for a War in Iraq. Please don't defend this President, even if the press overdoes his incompetence. On the other hand, it remains to be seen if Obama has the stones or McCain's are too petrified to be effective Presidents. Obama, like Bush, depends on being scripted too much. I am concerned about the tax issue, but the problem of McCain's tax stand is just as worrisome. Despite his claim as a pork buster, he hasn't seen a tax break for the oil industry that he doesn't like and if I remember the banking industry either... Remember the Keating 5. And what is the number one supporter of Republican's, the insurance industry which was given $400 Billion and ended up providing Taxpayers with increased costs and now real new benefits. Raising tire pressure would save American's a lot in gas Silver in Red. Not the only answer and more drilling off shore is important, just not on the 5% of protect Anwar reserve, use the other 95%. The problem is not so much drilling but the pipeline. In order to keep the oil flowing, they fill it with heated salt water. The leaks do permanent damage to the tundra, both the heat and salt. Come up with another solution. Off shore drilling and windmills in Nantucket are NIMBI issues, the Feds should just claim eminent domain and move on, like they do with cell towers.
  22. Now this is getting ridiculous. The Bills are acting like the incompetent Darcy Regier and Peters's lack of communication is immature. Unless they are secretly having discussions this deal should have gotten done last winter. Darn, another Buffalo Team's important part being left out to insure the team won't make the playoffs. With the Jets adding Favre, and the Fish getting Pennington, the Bills will be lucky to finish third in this division without all cylinders firing. Peters is one of the cylinders. Common Ralph wake up for a few minutes, get over your dementia and pay some Bills, or at least open up the lines of Communication. If not trade him for another tackle and some draft picks and do it now! But it is probably too late to do it. In today's economy Peters is lucky to have a job, get rid of him and his attitude. If he wants to play, make it somewhere else. Otherwise, make him sit for three years and black ball him from football. I am tired of immature athletes not living up to their contracts and money grubbing owners who won't take care of their own.
  23. First time in a while, I think you have AD dead to rights. Heck I am not sure I ever remember him making such a statement about one of the RNC parrots. Maybe once a couple of years ago.... but rarely.
  24. Yep, and there is plenty of ammunition on him from Massachusetts. Interesting though, Romney isn't a shrinking violet and is smooth in his comebacks. He is hard to piss off and even when you do, he remains unflabble unlike McCain.
  25. You all are just plain sick. They have a place for folks like you in DC. It is called St. Elizabeths where you use to be able to play checkers with John Hinkley
