Alabama and Mississippi... nough said. P.S. an exception is Iowa where Senator Hark there is a federal dollar and so called "Conservative" hypocrite Senator Grass Head bring in more federal largess per population that any two congresscritters out there. Eliminating Iowa as a state would constitute a major budget cut and probably balance the budget. Throw in NYC and you could do it.

Doesn't mean they aren't spending a lot of money. P.S. Suburban public schools in the area have many that rank in the top 50 in the country. Though their spending levels are about the same level as inner city schools. Difference they hire more teachers per student and spend less money on things like metal detectors and bars on windows.... Plus the tradition if you have money or talented and live in the city and or can get a scholarship is to send him to a private school. Cherry picking the best and brightest. The lower level kids have no examples of what to do to move ahead and it becomes the proverbial crabs in a pot deal.

Excuses, Excuses. Reagan was a party flipper and not that great a president despite his rhetoric. I could go on... but no sense... I do not want to stoop to level of some on this board. My only statement is that for those who would condemn the man remember that you are not God and don't make that decision. On the man, as usual with most people, Sen. Kennedy lived a complicated life and whether your forgive him for his transgressions and how he bypassed dealing with them as a young man or not...,I am sure all of you know the exact facts of what happened or not, ...he had a substantive influence on our lives. I did (do) not always agree with his political stances and thought he often reached across the aisle way too much, especially with Bush W. That being said, I am not going to prejudge him or Reagan on issues that I have no authority or business enunciating. -

Sorry to see Ted Kennedy passed, he truly was a gentleman when I worked for him and with his office. He and Senator Lautenberg dropped what they were debating one day in the Senate cloakroom and showed their grandfatherly side. They took time to play with my then 4 month old son Noah during a weekend floor debate. Noah played right to them, who was on my chest in a baby bjorn. I will always remember Kennedy's smile. Having known of her for a number of years and seen her in action I don't have much tolerance for anything she does. She probably doesn't have the temprement to deal with aggressive folks. She has a bad temper herself and can be a loose canon when exposed. It would be entertaining but probably not in her political interest to have a public forum. -

Low level Capitol Hill Staffer except around x-mas time when the lobbyists deliver real food. Higher Lever Staffers get taken out to the Hawk & Dove... -
Interesting point.... it may have some more unintended consequences too, allowing the creation of more independent contractors and if so causing more tax head aches for the average worker, which could lead to a simplification of the tax code politically mandated. Will have to think about it some more.

I figured that just wanted to clarify it though... some of the sarcasm here gets taken seriously. Also I corrected the Senator. Enzi was one of the Rs screwing around on his wife. Isaacson was the writer of the language from GA -

You knuckle draggers on this still. John Issacson ® from GA wrote the provision. It is a counseling deal, not a death panel so cut the crap on that thing. I think it is a waste of money and should be provided for anyway as part of any DNR discussions... Not sure the government should mandate paying extra for it. But death panel... cut out the hyperbole.... it is a bunch of moronic misinformed crap. -
What I saw from last nights game

My thought were that Roscoe Parrish is nothing more than a streak and a punt returner. He got run over by two throws to the end zone in the second quarter because he is too small. He is not a red zone receiver. Also, I thought the D-line looked horribly inconsistent. Especially in the second quarter. The defensive ends were getting pinched and there was little run support from the line backers. ... Not sure the problem. The offensive line looked like they were learning... Not bad considering there are two rookies and guys playing out of their natural position... This was a good test for the lines which I think are the key to the Bills season. If they don't improve it is going to be a long one. Might as well sign Michael Vick. -
In an ideal world sure, but this is politics 101. It is very effective for the Republicans to organize opposition in this way and they are doing so quite effectively. It is also smart for the democrats to call expose these tactics as organized by the political opposition and call them whatever name they think is effective as a response. I expect both sides to charge and counter charge from this point further, but the now that the posturing is exposed for what it is on both sides, maybe then an honest debate can happen or at least a compromise. I doubt any major reform will happen, but incrementally the system might be made a little better.... There is an opportunity at least, how realistic... that depends on your level of cynicism. The corporations and the government have everyone by the Kahoonas and blame the other side for the problems. So it looks like the do nothings have won and still taxes will be raises somehow to pay for it all....

I play to keep in shape... I am not the greatest skater, but I have speed and hustle up and down the ice.... so between running, biking, chasing my two boys and hockey I stay in shape. The doctor during my last physical comment that my blood pressure was excellent... and other than some bursitis in my elbow from that baseball injury, I have no major complaints. -

Fair enough and I am not either. I am just asking for access at an affordable cost and that includes to my wife's employer, where we get our health insurance through. Ironically, it is a hospital and she is an OR Nurse. I have never said free and I do think that everyone should pay something including those who don't have health insurance. They should all be put in a risk pool or pools, but required to pay some sort of premium even if it is only a little based on their income. This way insurance cos are guaranteed a profit but costs can be contained as the Government (taxpayers) shares the burden. Also part of the problem with insurance is that it is regulated by the States and while some states like VA have good government policies, NY is totally corrupt and between its taxes and graft can drive any business into bankruptcy. -

Ah please stop apologizing for these overpaid prima donas and this is what ticks me off about athletes... they are risking their lives every day... please that is such a gross over statement it makes me want to puke. Police officers, Fireman, Members of the Military in a war zone are risking their lives everyday.... These guys are playing a game and getting paid way more than anyone deserves... kinda like the stock brokers and ceos on Wall Street. Yes the market bears it, but don't make them out to be anything other than someone who found their nitch and can make it pay. Cut out the overstatement. Risking their lives... give me a break, you have been listening to too much political hyperbole that it has resulted in wet brain. -

Just another reason to raise premiums above what is needed.... whatever. Hey, I play hockey to keep in shape... raise my rates... whatever, the only I have ever broken, twisted or torn has been in my own home or on the lamest game of all playing baseball. Just because you don't want to admit the insurance cos have everyone by the cahoonahs and only make politically expedient exceptions. Bet those TX doctors are still paying high rates, unless somehow the state insurance commission stepped in and regulated them.
