  1. I just saw Dee Dee Meyers on Morning Joe and I think she had at least partly correct. The level of vitriol against Obama has a racial component and having the other issues people disagree with him about allows the racial nut heads to come above ground, but that isn't the only motivation. Though to deny it is a component is naive. All though Scarborough said that Clinton had it worse and Bush in someways had it as bad as Obama from the left. Unfortunately this is part of the current way in an instant message society that people express themselves... We do it here on this board. I do think the press makes too much of it as a bad thing, as long as it doesn't rise to the level of violence. Blowing off steam on a board and arguing is a lot safer and civilized then say some other forms of political debate that currently goes on in the Middle East.
  2. But they are professionals???? And get paid a lot for it.....
  3. Agreed, really what else is there to do in Amherst or Williamsville on a Sunday night... it isn't even winter yet where they more likely would have urinated what they wrote on his front yard.
  4. LOL, it is only thing the local high bored high school students can come up with before they leave town to take jobs in DC and on Wall Street where they can become really successful criminals.
  5. Maybe, but only if the won more than one. Pats land is bad. I would much rather deal with NYC, two minutes afterwards their attitude is what have done for me lately and it was expected, no big deal, get over yourself.
  6. It could have been worse it could have been tragic. The Carl Rowen thing is DC was a case of young (girl and boy) teenagers pool hopping and then arguing with Rowen when Rowen, gun in hand, told him to not move the cops were coming. The kid lunged at the gun. I am not saying there isn't a disconnect between the wealth of these players and fans who support them, case and point MJ at the induction ceremony. Always heard he was an A-hole, this just confirmed it. That being said, given recent football player paranoia about fans, something stupid and relatively harmless could turn into something very tragic and just shouldn't be done. It is a game after all. As far as the game goes, I enjoyed it while the fantasy lasted and McKelven stupidly didn't use that thing on top of his head either. Having one doesn't guarantee good decisions.
  7. Unless of course they pull a Cheech and Chong and make some ART!
  8. Ah... Yes you can if you can. Under the U.S. constitution you have an absolute right to defend your property. Case and point in DC a few years back there was a Reporter columnist who shot an guy on his porch. He was trying to break in and was shot and killed. The court ruled he had the right to protect his property and shoot the man. The gun was his son's who was on leave from the Navy and legal. I forget all the details

  10. Except of the LT Bell's penalities, probably because of a lack of practice, the O-line played well. His penalties for lining up wrong were drive killers and really took Buffalo out of rhythm. If not for them, the Bills could have survived McKelven's debacle.
  11. Not the way I would go... start by eliminating insurance all together, and do tort reform, raise the bar for criminal penalties for doctors that f-up and hospital administrators. Go to sliding scale pay as you go. It would bring down costs pretty quickly.
  12. 'Nough said... and this unintentional off the record remark probably was intentional with plausible denial... Those leaks don't happen by mistake.
  13. Norma Rae Dead at 68. http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/nor...r-two-year-stru
  14. Yes. Also, I am betting it was a stinger to his shoulder, not his arm...
  15. Except for the Union comment, agreed, however there are insurance companies to hand it over to and the other side has tried to do that go the way of health insurance... Seriously, they can't help themselves in writing something populist except maybe in the Senate and with the flack Pelosi is catching maybe, just maybe the Senate can win the debate. The old adage on when I worked on the Senate side was it wasn't the Republicans (Senators) that were the problem it was the whole House.
  16. Loose and uninformed. I love the conspiracy theory especially as it regards the Pentagon. I know to many people who saw the plane go down the mall, saw it turn and hit the far side of the Pentagon, felt the explosion, saw the fire ball including my wife and smelled the jet fuel over 4 days later as it re-ignited. There is more but I am just explaining things to dopers who don't want to listen or think except what their own acid trip is telling them.. 'nough said... Helter Skelter dude....
  17. ??? Are you that Frenchy that used to post here?
  18. You are spending too much time watching Glen Beck...
  19. I was thinking the same thing, but the satirical part of the article is that it is so obvious that they left it blank, so I have to think it was on purpose... Trust me these guys think about that stuff and are looking to see who says anything about it.
  20. Agreed, do the Bills get to play Detroit this year... here is hoping.
  21. I love this line and it applies to all political sides and then some: "NITS is a real and growing problem in America,” said Dr. Franz Hawk, speech pathologist at the Medical University of South Carolina. “We’re not sure about the cause, but it seems to be unique to this country and is somehow more common in households with cable television. Treatment for NITS can be a lengthy process since it’s not so much a medical condition as it is a habit.”
  22. Hmmm, remember watching the WTCs burning on TV, going over to the Capitol to do work.. looked out a window and saw smoke from the Pentagon and white smoke from around the WH. Returned to my desk to an urgent phone call from my soon to be Fiance' saying she felt the explosion from her office in Arlington and saw the fire ball. The press said that there were thought to be two more planes in the air and to get the out.... Ooof and the story didn't end there... P.S. The Ring from our family jeweler in Buffalo showed up that Friday at my office UPS Ground. I proposed on the Lewes, DE to Cape May, NJ Fairy that Sunday... A month later our office got hit by Anthrax A year later the Sniper was loose in DC while were getting married. Hurricane Isabel flooded our house the next year, Finally a year after that the idiot Gov. of KY invaded DC air space during Reagan's funeral and they told us to run. My first son was two months old and we decided to leave DC for Western, MA. Now in the NYC metro area where my wife grew up and this brings a lot back... Whew. I get a little duck and cover in Septembers nowadays.
