This brings up another point. Assuming Wire becomes essentially a backup LB (as he is by all accounts not suited to play safety in the cover 2), we would really have only one backup S in Leonard. Don't be surprised when we draft a safety somewhere on draft day to be groomed as a backup. -
Enlighten me since I've never had a netflix account: the DVD's ship bulk postage pre-paid USPS Express mail I assume?

Since when is A-Train a viable starting running back? When has Shaud Williams been anything but a 3rd down back and a very average one at that? How much did he play last year? Fred Jackson is an intriguing possibility but the very best you can say is "has a shot to compete". You seem to have a case of the rose-colored glasses about our current RB's, imo. This does not necessarily mean I am advocating taking a RB in round one but to suggest that the 3 RB's that we currently have on the roster (at this point) are even adequate is very suspect, imo. -
Your point is well made; I think a better way to put it is Marv and Co. are removing all potential obstacles out of JP's way so that he can most clearly and directly make his move on the throne of the Bills being his team. I sense that they have a great optimism about the continued expansion of JP as a QB and Leader, and they view this process as more of a rearranging of the pieces around him to help him more than hoping that he actually comes through. I think last year did a lot to show them that they don't have to worry so much about JP and worry more about the pieces assembled around him. If you look at the JP now as opposed to the JP last offseason, the difference is monumental and I think the reciprocal confidence flowing between coaching/management staff and JP is really electric with potential and promise. Certainly we are still dealing with potential in JP, but there is a difference between electrically confident potential and crossing your fingers potential. JP has made the jump from the latter to former in the course of one season, imo, and the plan continuing to be implemented by Marv and Co. is a direct reflection of this rapid growth and, especially, maturity.

It is virtually written in stone that the Bills are going RBBC this year for many of the reasons you suggest. The FA options are such that there is no proven 1 guy out there who can carry the whole load, and any rookie, whether 1st round or 7th round, is going to take time to learn the ropes and not be a 1 guy immediately upon entering the NFL if he ever develops into a 1 guy at all. Jones-Drew and Moroney obviously shared duties, among others. So did Addai. Also, a minor correction, Fred Jackson has 1 year of experience as of now so he hasn't qualified for "journeyman" status yet one way or the other

We will extend Evans and JP when they rip shiit up this year. I will bet the farm and my left testicle on this. And yes, before you question, I do have a left testicle so this is not an empty bet. They are the absolute young core of this franchise and are indispensible. Marv knows this. Evans is the absolute prototype kind of guy that Marv likes and, relatively speaking, he's a better WR than Clements is a CB. We throw 50 million dollars at a LG and a lot of money at Kelsay and some people still don't think we will pay money for the players we want. -
I'm currently braindead and don't know where I am. I'll contribute something more lucid laterz....

You really have to be a completely braindead jizzmopper not to know that Lee Evans is the best WR in the AFC East. -

"FA Loser" A completely meaningless concept made vogue by 24 hour a day/7 days a week sports media outlets who constantly always have to have something to talk about or make up to talk about. It doesn't take a whiz bang analyst to understand that losing players like Clements, Spikes, and Fletcher is a hump that this team is going to have to get over. I happen to think we do have a plan and that it requires a modicum of patience and that we are proceeding along nicely. But patience and foresight is not required to be a talking head, in fact, these principles are highly discouraged because they caution against making grossly exclamatory comments that cause heads to turn and ratings to rise. Don't expect anyone in the media to call us anything but a loser when we haven't done anything to prove them wrong since the turn of the millenia. This is how they look at things, black and white, no matter how shallow it really is. Even Jaws operates by the punditry code: the lowest common easily regurgitatable soundbite shtick denominator. -
So Who Can Tell Me About Carey Bender?
Sketch Soland replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, Carey Bender was a pipsqueak. His relative notoriety among Bills fans at the time was only because he went to Coe. -
