IMO, the days of needing a true "#1 WR" have essentially passed due to all of the NFL rule changes. I'm not saying the Bills don't need to continue to look at WR, but honestly, I'm more about the Defensive Line / DE in the upcoming Draft as all reports are that those are the positions of real value and depth for 2019. Add in Kyle's probable last year, Washington being whatever he ends up being and Hughes being 30 and Lawson being a question mark as well....I'll take a DE / DT in 1st - 2nd, and keep KB if stays healthy and produces even modest numbers depending on his contract demands, Coleman, Zay and probably either Phillips or Ray-Ray that make the squad. Plus Reilly - yeah, you can find good to decent WRs anywhere in the Draft. In fact, many of the really good ones were not 1st Round picks; i.e. Antonio Brown, Doug Baldwin, Michael Thomas, Keenan Allen, Jordy Nelson,  etc. And yes, I realize there are a great many good WRs Drafted in the 1st round, my point being you don't *have* to Draft one in the 1st.

If KB plays well, sign him and extend him for reasons related to continuity and using Draft capital in the right places. Then Coleman, we'll see, and Zay needs to be healthy but he can play....you don't set the FBS record with 399 catches and forget how to catch. We'll see if the torn labrum made him alligator arm catches and if he can rebound nicely.

Defensive Line - OLB - Offensive Line - with CB being a FA priority. TEs take several years to develop. So, if you're going to Draft one, you do so in the 3rd or 4th round - again, look at history. Tony Gonzalez was the last truly great TE Drafted in the 1st and if you Draft a player in the 1st, you're doing so with either HOF in mind or immediate contributor. Just b/c I know there will be people who ask for examples: Gates, Witten, Kelce, Jimmy Graham, and Ertz and Gronk were taken in the 2nd round....

Fans in contemporary NFL tend to overvalue WRs in relation to Draft position....the NFL doesn't. QB / O & D Line / LB, and then skill positions, WR-RB-CB.

Yeah I disagree with this, you don't go out and get yourself a guy with the arm talent Josh has and not make any effort to bring in an explosive weapon for him to be able to use.

Already have him on the roster

    Corey Coleman

He has alot to proove that he is anything special at the NFL level

  2. I'm already thinking ahead to the future and not worrying too much about what happens this season because we obviously still have some glaring holes.  Number 1 is WR and I think everybody would agree on that.  Part of me is nervous though if there will be any truly elite WR's that will also fit the personality traits McDermott and Beane stress.  I say that because WR's are the biggest divas in the entire NFL, even the majority of the greats at that position.  I know there are some exceptions but this is one position where I really hope we don't get scared off from trying to draft a highly skilled receiver if he doesn't fit the criteria 100%...with Allen's arm and a legit deep threat that could be dangerous!  Has anybody else given this any thought or familiar with what big time receiver's are coming out of the draft next year and if you think they will be an ok fit here personality wise(not a huge college football guy so I'm not familiar with any of them at the moment)

  3. The atmosphere at the stadium has always been primarily geared by the college crowd and the table jumping antics etc. are what's in with that demographic nowadays.  If you follow Barstool Sports they are always posting videos of this kind of stuff going on at college parties all over the United States.  The reason why this is associated with Bills fans is Buffalo has much more of a college gameday atmosphere than any other NFL city.

  4. I used to really look forward to the Hall of Fame inductions back in the day but it hasn't been the same the last couple years as we are getting into the more modern era players, I can't explain why I don't enjoy it as much but IMO the speeches usually aren't as good as the classic ones but I thought Dawkins speech was amazing and inspiring.  I can see why McDermott listed him as one of his favorite players he's ever coached.

Is it really that far fetched what we can’t compete for the 8th spot in the playoffs? I don’t think we’re as far off as some people are saying...

I think the Skinner trade(obviously along with all of the other additions/subtractions of this offseason) has finally put them into a place where they could legimately be a playoff team this season...I'm impressed with all of the moves Bott's made because I wasn't expecting this team to be in any position to be a playoff team going into this year.

  6. Has anybody else sat back and thought of the irony of how the Bills finally seem to be heading toward being a serious contender in the next few years yet the game itself is becoming almost unwatchable with all of the rule changes and officiating problems?  Kinda makes me depressed.  If not for the Bills building something right now I don't know how much interest level I would even have for the NFL.  I've already quit watching the NBA after the circus that league has turned into.

Every place of employment is going to have a few ass-hats.

Do you think New Era has more than the avg??

My comment was in reference to hearing about stories where New Era has a work environment where sleeping around in the company is encouraged, to the point where there are lots of work parties and functions where spouses are specifically not allowed to attend.  I know this because I knew a guy who had a good position with the company whose wife made him leave the company  because she was aware of what was going on.

Does this happen at other companies? Sure but I did get a good chuckle when I heard the news about Russ going to NE after hearing about those stories.

  8. Khalil Mack is awesome...that's who I was hoping for when we traded up for Sammy but the truth is with this regime in charge it's time to look forward and stop looking in the past.  McBeane are going to continue to build this thing up in house with draft picks and occasionally plug in a free agent where they see the value meets the need.  There's no way they are splurging on a Ferrari in free agency.

  9. But with Josh Allen I don't even think it's a matter of ruining him by starting him too soon...it's simply the matter that he's taking a MAJOR jump from the level of play and competition he saw at Wyoming v.s. what he's in store for in the NFL and he needs a little bit of time to get used to playing ball at this level.  In Allen's case it does make sense to sit back and absorb a little bit IMO.

Had an awesome time at TC today with my son.  Thanks again to @Just Jack for the tickets.  It’s been a couple years, so it was especially nice to get back to SJF.

My son got a bunch of autographs from players including Malachi Dupri, Robert Foster, Hauschka, Reid Ferguson, Wyatt Teller (who was hilarious), Harrison Phillips (who seemed to be really quiet but played awesome and signed for just about everyone), Austin Proel, and Nate Peterman.

It was really interesting following along with the Twitter reports while following practice.  Quite a few of the tweets from camp reporters didn’t seem to be entirely accurate. For example, there were a few times certain quarterbacks were praised for making great passes, but watching from the stands, it was clear to everyone that it would have been a sack.  There were quite a few instances of this which reminds me that these things aren’t always entirely accurate and/or lack context.

    A few observations from memory:

    - It was tough to evaluate the QB’s.  They all had their ups and downs.  What was clear is that Josh Allen is a “fiery” type of player who I think will be an excellent leader if he back up his good leadership presence with play on the field.  McCarron was probably the most consistent player today, but he (and Peterman) just kind of seem to be going through the motions.  Allen is always taking to coaches after his reps, practicing his footwork/mechanics, and encouraging the other players.

    - Hughes and Yarborough seemed to be virtually unblockable today.  Hughes was awesome at rushing the edge, as usual.  Yarborough seemed to be all over the field.  Lorax also seemed to make quite a few plays.

    - Robert Foster was especially impressive.  He and Allen never seemed to be on the right page, however, as several times Allen appeared to be looking for the back-shoulder through and Foster would run something different.  Malachi Dupri was also impressive to me.  Also, it seems like Clay is going to be a huge part of this offense.

    - I think Daboll’s offense is going to be fun to watch.  Lots of different looks out there including some RPO mixed in.

    -  Shady didn’t play all that much it seemed (at least in 11 on 11’s), but he flashed his typical electric stuff out there when he got touches.  The guy definitely still has “it.”  I could see him playing 2-3 more years easily if he stays healthy.  Chris Ivory is sneaky fast.  Had an awesome run off tackle that would have gone for a long TD.  Absolutely smoked the secondary.

    -  Harrison Phillips seemed to play a lot of 1 tech today.  Mainly occupied the center and OG, which was good, but I hope they have broader plans for him.

    - I think Wyatt Teller is going to be very tough to keep off the field.  He played the entire time with the 2nd team at RG, as John Miller played with the 1st team (and looked good).  I didn’t pay close enough attention to evaluate him in pass protection, but it was difficult to not notice him in run blocking.  The guy is an absolute bulldozer, and is really good at getting to the second level.  As I mentioned earlier, he was absolutely hilarious when he was signing autographs.  Great guy.

That’s about all that comes to mind right now.  Wish I was able to take notes, but I was really enjoying spending time with my son.  He has always loves the Bills, but now he is old enough to really appreciate and understand the game.  I’m absolutely hooked now....can’t wait for the first preseason game!!!

    Go Bills!!

Love hearing all this good stuff about Wyatt Teller! I am really rooting for him to become a legitimate starter on the O-line...if he pans out this could really turn out to be one of our best drafts of all-time
