He definitely plays with a mean streak similar to Richie Incognito, and he looks humungous out there.
I'm curious what kind of things was he saying that made him so hilarious? He seems like he could be a character(in a good way)

Had an awesome time at TC today with my son. Thanks again to @Just Jack for the tickets. It’s been a couple years, so it was especially nice to get back to SJF.
My son got a bunch of autographs from players including Malachi Dupri, Robert Foster, Hauschka, Reid Ferguson, Wyatt Teller (who was hilarious), Harrison Phillips (who seemed to be really quiet but played awesome and signed for just about everyone), Austin Proel, and Nate Peterman.
It was really interesting following along with the Twitter reports while following practice. Quite a few of the tweets from camp reporters didn’t seem to be entirely accurate. For example, there were a few times certain quarterbacks were praised for making great passes, but watching from the stands, it was clear to everyone that it would have been a sack. There were quite a few instances of this which reminds me that these things aren’t always entirely accurate and/or lack context.
A few observations from memory:
- It was tough to evaluate the QB’s. They all had their ups and downs. What was clear is that Josh Allen is a “fiery” type of player who I think will be an excellent leader if he back up his good leadership presence with play on the field. McCarron was probably the most consistent player today, but he (and Peterman) just kind of seem to be going through the motions. Allen is always taking to coaches after his reps, practicing his footwork/mechanics, and encouraging the other players.
- Hughes and Yarborough seemed to be virtually unblockable today. Hughes was awesome at rushing the edge, as usual. Yarborough seemed to be all over the field. Lorax also seemed to make quite a few plays.
- Robert Foster was especially impressive. He and Allen never seemed to be on the right page, however, as several times Allen appeared to be looking for the back-shoulder through and Foster would run something different. Malachi Dupri was also impressive to me. Also, it seems like Clay is going to be a huge part of this offense.
- I think Daboll’s offense is going to be fun to watch. Lots of different looks out there including some RPO mixed in.
- Shady didn’t play all that much it seemed (at least in 11 on 11’s), but he flashed his typical electric stuff out there when he got touches. The guy definitely still has “it.” I could see him playing 2-3 more years easily if he stays healthy. Chris Ivory is sneaky fast. Had an awesome run off tackle that would have gone for a long TD. Absolutely smoked the secondary.
- Harrison Phillips seemed to play a lot of 1 tech today. Mainly occupied the center and OG, which was good, but I hope they have broader plans for him.
- I think Wyatt Teller is going to be very tough to keep off the field. He played the entire time with the 2nd team at RG, as John Miller played with the 1st team (and looked good). I didn’t pay close enough attention to evaluate him in pass protection, but it was difficult to not notice him in run blocking. The guy is an absolute bulldozer, and is really good at getting to the second level. As I mentioned earlier, he was absolutely hilarious when he was signing autographs. Great guy.
That’s about all that comes to mind right now. Wish I was able to take notes, but I was really enjoying spending time with my son. He has always loves the Bills, but now he is old enough to really appreciate and understand the game. I’m absolutely hooked now....can’t wait for the first preseason game!!!
Go Bills!!
Love hearing all this good stuff about Wyatt Teller! I am really rooting for him to become a legitimate starter on the O-line...if he pans out this could really turn out to be one of our best drafts of all-time

There's just no way anyone can know this to be true. Do you actually believe if he starts for the next five years he won't be more accurate than he is today? The Tom Brady we see now is NOT the Tom Brady who came into the league 18 years ago.
It makes no sense to pretend we can tell today what a pro football player will be like in five or seven years.
I feel pretty confident in saying there's a 99% chance he doesn't become the next Brady or Rodgers...would I love to be wrong? Absolutely
Just because I don't think Brady or Rodgers is his ceiling doesn't mean I don't think he can be a great QB in the NFL

Allen is fearless when it comes to making any throw.
I'm not hating it...
Exactly. Even Allen at his absolute best will not be another Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers with pure accuracy all the time. I see him being in the gunslinger mold of a Brett Favre where he will throw a bad pick here and there but he will also make some absolute beauties that will make it all worth it. If our defense ends up being as good as I think it can be and they bring in some weapons for Allen and shore up the offensive line I am absolutely fine with having that kind of QB. Will make for some exciting ball games

1st ever Playoff game at Rich/Ralph/NewEra.
Tasker, Riddick and some rookie RB were fantastic!
That's crazy when you think about how that stadium opened up in 1973?(I could be off but I think that's when it opened up). The Bills only true era of success in that stadium was the late 80s/early 90s...let's hope we can put something together real soon and have a few more good memories before it's time for the new stadium

You always hear about how terrible it is in Buffalo (or WNY) with all the snow and cold. We are treated like an leper tundra community by players/fans/media from the so-called "nicer" parts of the country, most commonly the south and west coasts (usual suspects being Florida and California)
You would never expect it would be 80's and brutal 90's for most of our summer, but that's beside my point.
What is better, cold and snowy for 4 to 5 months a year, or "fair weather" most of the time with natural disasters and dangerous creatures?
I contend WNY is better. I am partial because I LOVE the winter. But besides that, the northeast woodlands are generally insulated from destructive forces. No hurricanes, monsoons, tornados, earthquakes, wildfires, poison snakes and spiders, and our apex predator (bears) are the easiest to deal with in an encounter (compared to other apex predators).
I also like that I could build a house, and feel reasonably certain it will still be standing when I'm dead.
I imagine most will agree with me since this is a Buffalo-based forum, but am curious to what you guys think.
What say you?
I feel like you are going to be surprised by the replies. Most guys on the message boards(especially the ones that post in the Off the Wall section) no longer live in the WNY area and they usually don't have any problem admitting they have no desire to move back lol.

Rediculous. Why was it Andre Reeds fault, "period"? Why not Darryl Talley, and the 3 other Bills who whiffed on tackles as Mark Ingram killed them on 3rd &22, and helped the Giants, essentially hold the ball for the entire 3rd quarter...or Jim for throwing a meaningless pass for 2 yards, to Keith McKellar, which wasted about 8 seconds on the clock during the final drive? Or hell, why not Keith McKellar for not having the prescense of mind to "drop" that same pass, inistead of making a great effort for the shoe-string catch? Of mayve blame Jim for getting a little pass-happy on that final drive, when Thurman was having an MVP type game. Blaming Reed for the loss,, "period" is absurd. The Giants/Bellechiks' defense game plan in 25 was to punish the Bills WR's. To their credit, they did...look at the boxscore for that game. Reed caught 8 passes for 62 yards....Lofton caught 1 pass for 61 yeards. McKellar 2 for 11. The Giants were determined to shut down the Bills potent passing game...and they did for the most part. Plenty of mistakes made that day...Andre Reed was far from the only reason they lost.
My little league football coach used to always say after a bad loss..."well the only positive we can take from this one is we lost as a team" and I've always thought that summed up Super Bowl 25 in a nutshell. As a team so many guys contributed to losing that game it really wasn't fair Norwood became the scapegoat. It's also crazy that for as many things that went wrong for the Bills in that game that they still had a chance to win it at the end.

At this point Josh should be standing out...there's a huge difference in ability between a guy who went #7 overall v.s. two guys who were 5th round picks. I'm very happy to hear Josh is showing some separation in these early practices but I think the big thing with Josh is how will he handle reading NFL defenses and the overall speed of processing information as a starting NFL quarterback. He is behind in that category because of his football experience so far playing for small schools and playing with and against lesser competition. If he can pick up the mental aspects to a "decent" degree than there's no way the other guys have a shot because Josh has all the natural ability in the world. Something also tells me Beane and McDermott would not have taken a shot on a kid that they didn't think had it upstairs so part of me is excited to see if he can adjust to the speed of the NFL quickly.

I’m the opposite. I figured he would be good because it seems like CB is the one position the Bills have consistently hit on over the last 30 years.
I just didn’t know he’d be as good as he was.
I liked Winfield and Jabari Greer but I thought a lot of the other "big name" cornerbacks we've had over the years were overrated and/or prima donnas. Tre is already working his way towards being my favorite Bills corner of all-time.
-
I remember being disappointed when we traded back and drafted a cornerback yet again...but at the time I didn't know anything about Tre because I'm not a huge college football guy and I was just never impressed by any of the other first round cornerbacks we would draft but as soon as I listened to his first press conference I was very impressed by this young man and this time it just felt different. Then getting to watch him play his rookie season was a real treat...the kid was an animal, all over the field, making plays getting the crowd worked up into a frenzy. I'm so proud to have this guy playing for my team and cannot wait to see him in action this season!

As close as I am, I've never been to KC. But I see it the same way as you...I hope to see a game there in the near future for their attractive game day experience. I've said that for years but can never pony up and find a traveling partner willing to pony up for NFL ticket prices. Other than their BBQ reputation, I have no incentive to visit if not for foolsball. OK has just as good BBQ as anyone, so...boo to KC.
Oh yeah definitely don't let my other post steer you from going to a Chiefs game...it is absolutely a fun football trip. The BBQ joints are delicious and were fun places to hang as there were lots of other Bills fans there too. The tailgating was great and the stadium is beautiful(I'm much more a fan of the traditional stadiums than the new ones being built these days). So for those things KC ranks very high on my list but as far as stuff to do in the city and nightlife KC ranks right at the bottom out of the away games I've done but I am one of those guys who can have fun anywhere I go so I certainly don't want it to seem like I am complaining about the time I had when I was there.

They rebuilt the stadium in KC and it looks fantastic. At least the feature I watched on TV a few years back. I have never been there.
Yeah the stadium was awesome. Great fans, fun gameday atmosphere. For a football trip Kansas City is a must...as far as the city itself I found it to be boring. The bar scene was pretty weak, not a ton of sightseeing stuff to do etc.

Funny you bring up The Simpsons today...I grew up a huge Simpsons fan, used to watch all the classics religiously but the quality definitely dropped off as early as Season 10. I still watched past that but they were never truly the same and then I just eventually got older and had other stuff going on in life. But channel FXX airs reruns all the time and I was home watching a few episodes last night and then just this morning writer Mike Reiss was on Shred and Ragan(local talk radio show here in WNY) doing an interview about his new book about what goes into making a Simpsons episode and they obviously talked about the classics such as Flaming Moe's, Mr. Plow, and Whacking Day. It was an enjoyable listen here is the link http://www.wedg.com/2018/07/23/shredd-ragan-podcast-monday-7-23-18/...he also mentioned at the end how the newest episodes are starting to receive positive feedback from fans again and to be honest the last couple episodes I have seen from within the last year or so were much better than what they had been for years so maybe the Simpsons will make a comeback at some point. Good thread OP

I live in Los Angeles so I have a different threshold for a fun city than I used to when I lived in Buffalo. I've been to a little over half of the NFL cities, but I think it's been enough for me to come up with a pretty solid list of crappy ones.
My bottom 5 cities in the NFL
5. Cleveland - I've had some good times in Cleveland, but the area of fun is a small isolated arts district (not unlike Buffalo if we're being honest).
4. Detroit - I've had less good times in Detroit. I think enough has been written about its status as an empty chunk of concrete.
3. Charlotte - This is a city that just isn't for me. Country music and "safe" conservatism means that their idea of a good time is a bar with all white people singing Kenny Chesney with the "wild one" of the group climbing on a decorative wagon wheel and being very agreeable when the staff motions her to get down.
2. Cincinnati - There are no words. It's just a joke of a city.
1. Jacksonville - I can't stand Florida as a whole - but my god Jacksonville was shockingly boring. The "cool spots" that locals recommended were essentially suburban strip malls. The city was barren and had less than a handful of bars worth walking into. It was a struggle to find a decent dive bar, and even then it was just a confusing hodgepodge of uncultured drunks.
Honorable mention:
Buffalo
I no longer live in Buffalo. I love the renaissance of the west side, the few things built near the waterfront, and of course the food. Depending on what you're interested in, Buffalo can be incredibly boring though. I was able to make the most of my time there - but I have no problem going to diy music shows or midnight bike rides. Unless there's a city-wide ban on chicken wings Buffalo can never dip into the bottom five.
Green Bay
I've never been to Green Bay, but I've been to Milwuakee a couple times and I like it on par with Buffalo. I've been told Green Bay is way smaller and has no night life, so I have to assume it's got to be pretty boring, but I don't even know if it qualifies for the list. It's more of a town, isn't it?
That's the thing with Green Bay and even Buffalo/WNY area too from an NFL city perspective I lump places like that in as regions so if you include the Milwaukee area(where my group is staying for a little bit when we do our Green Bay trip this season) Green Bay isn't nearly as bad for lack of entertainment if you were heading out there to catch a game. Same thing with going to Buffalo with the options to cross over the border and hit the Canadian Strip Clubs and Casinos or if you are bringing your family there is the option to do things like the Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds, Youngstown Jet Boat tour etc...if you lump the WNY region together there are tons of things to do.

Exactly. I was being sarcastic with my comment. You don't give up and wait until Brady retires. You do everything you can to become division champion. Even sweeter if you can do it with the best still playing at the top of his game.
I know you were, I was agreeing with your point...I was just piggybacking off your comment and driving home the point further. It's amazing to me the mentality some fans have.

The Bills should probably just forfeit every game until those two guys retire. I mean they can't get good enough to make serious noise and there's no reason to risk injury.
What people are still failing to see is that we might potentially have one of our own kind of guys like that finally...Ok for the record I am definitely not saying Allen is going to be the next Brady but I have heard some say his ceiling could be a more athletic Roethlisburger. The point is if Allen turns out to be a legitimate franchise QB we will be able to hang with anybody else out there with the defense we are going to have as well.

"Ruining" a QB by starting him too soon
in The Stadium Wall Archives
Posted
But with Josh Allen I don't even think it's a matter of ruining him by starting him too soon...it's simply the matter that he's taking a MAJOR jump from the level of play and competition he saw at Wyoming v.s. what he's in store for in the NFL and he needs a little bit of time to get used to playing ball at this level. In Allen's case it does make sense to sit back and absorb a little bit IMO.
