  1. Helped: Tarpley and Reddick had nice games. So did Fluellen. I think Dez Lewis showed enough to get signed to the PS. Hurt: IK (can't be making mental mistakes), the backup interior OL.
  2. Pat Meyer was hired an an assistant to the assistant OL coach (Kurt Anderson) during the Kromer fiasco. Just because his title includes the words "football operations" doesn't mean he's an "ops" person--he's a coach. http://www.scout.com/nfl/bills/story/1568764-buffalo-bills-hire-pat-meyer The folks included in the link you posted all report to Whaley...
  3. If you're going to worry, focus on the health of the starting OL. It't the most critical question we face this season...
  4. Carpenter's not getting cut without a viable alternative to take his place. Most of the second team OL should be worried, however...
  5. And sign who? Not like there are many NFL-quality kickers sitting on their couches waiting for a call. BTW, two of his three misses hit the upright, so he's not missing by much...
  6. Ryan does not head football ops. Per page 7 of the Bills media guide: http://prod.static.bills.clubs.nfl.com/assets/docs/Buffalo-Bills-Media-Guide.pdf FOOTBALL ADMINISTRATION Kevin Meganck Director of Football Operations Don Purdy Director of Football Administration Michael Lyons Director of Analytics Casey Weidl Manager of Football Operations Peter Linton System Analyst
  7. Maybe. Maybe not. If he loses his national reputation and even his wife (their relationship is reportedly a little rocky) it's just a pyrrhic victory....
  8. I went on record saying I disagreed with the decision. But guess what--I'm not the GM and neither is anyone else here. Full Stop. We think emotionally and don't have to consider the "inside OBD" ramifications of such a move. So it's easy to B word, whine and pontificate. But there were likely a host of reasons that factored into DW's decision to go with younger/cheaper RBs that would allow him to better support another position group or free up money to pay Marcel. Will the results of the decision be on Whaley? Absolutely. But given his hit rate on Byrd, Levitre, Stevie J., Kiko etc., I'm willing to feel sad about Fred and give Doug the benefit of the doubt. Which doesn't matter anyway, since I don't work at OBD (contrary to what Negativo says)...
  9. A case could be made that T-Pegs was the guy who should have informed "Football Operations" (i.e., Brandon) after he got the news from Whaley/Ryan. After all, that's the reporting arrangement with Brandon reporting to him, not Doug. I suspect that being at the U.S. Open last week, he may have been a bit distracted in his managerial duties...
  10. Deja vu all over again.... http://espn.go.com/premium/nfl/columns/cannizzaro_mark/362518.html
  11. Football has become such a great passtime, hasn't it.......
  12. Yep. It was easy to see coming. Other media outlets love it when they can just react to a TG 'scoop' and not have to work to come up with anything original or interesting...
  13. Sorry. I'm off the clock now. Maybe tomorrow when I report for work at the OBD message board boiler room...
  14. Watch it...he'll go rogue and block the wrong guy. Oh wait, that might happen anyway...
  15. Seems more intent at being glib than thoughtful. Go figure...
  16. OK. I acknowledge that Russ Brandon should have been talked to. Happy? Can we sing kumbaya and roast S'moor's around the campfire now? But in the grand scheme of things it's like saying 'bad boy' to Pegs dog for crapping on the floor. You clean up the poop and move on. Graham elevating it into some wild conspiracy / dysfunctional front office "story" is the only thing rouge about the whole affair...
  17. PSA. Wouldn't it just be easier to put this guy on ignore and reduce the wasted space in this thread? I know he has some mild entertainment value. But think of the lost productivity and wasted server space tied up in responding over and over to his 'tin foil hat' arguments...
  18. OK, let's assume that scenario played out for a moment. And the marketing department convinced M&T to go with Watkins as its 2015 spokesperson, ending it's long relationship with Fred. You don't think there wouldn't have been blowback from the hubbub created by media bomb throwers like TG, Sully or Bucko? Or the Interweb trolls and second guessers who make moral outrage their reason for being? Why would M&T or any advertiser want to step in front of that bus?
  19. Good list. I'd add Lori Chase as well even though she's not local anymore...
  20. Rex's Plan B for messing with the Colts preparation. He had to announce the starting QB but this is just as good for creating confusion...
  21. The only thing that might have been prevented is giving TG the opportunity to piss in the punchbowl by saying how 'embarrassing' it is. No one but Timmeh has indicated that it was a significant problem for M&T or the Bills management...
  22. And what's Fred going to say? "They're pushing me out the door." Or the typical 'drunk on a barstool' fan (Sully's target audience)? "FJ's a gonner--how can they do that to a beloved guy like him?" You can see the depth of emotion around FJ from this board. I can't see M&T changing horses in midstream being a good fit for their corporate image as long as Freddie was on the roster...
  23. That would have been a public relations disaster, IMO. Akin to a Fred Jackson death watch. No way M&T would have wanted to be part of the blowback those optics would have created...
