  1. Well, the Vegas line is not arbitrary. In fact, I think the line was set with the thought process that the Pats front 7 will completly dismantle the Bills porous offensive line. As a result, this will cause turnovers from a young inexperienced quarterback, which the savvy Pats will ultimately convert into touchdowns. Is this what will really happen?? Well, thats why they play the game!
  2. That would be hilarious, and I do think Brunell is washed up. But, they will go with Campbell for a jumpstart before Collins. Campbell will be a pretty good NFL quarterback.
  3. I'm sure a full page of reading really challenges your mental capablities. But let me pose a question. Who do we want more of on this board? People who provide thoughtful insight on the Bills, or people of limited intellect aka morons, whose sole purpose is to insult and demean others. Well, we already have enough of the latter, so I'm happy when someone like Pyrite Gal posts. Thanks Pyrite Gal!!
  4. True, if there'e one thing I'm sure about in Marv's tenure to this point, it's that he overpaid for Price and Reed. Had he not went after those two symbols of past Bills failure, he could have easily invested that money in a Keyshawn Johnson or a Brandon Lloyd, both of whom would make excellent 2's or even 1B's. Those are two moves I didn't understand then, and understand even less now. When starting a new regime, why would Marv go out of his way to perpetuate the failed moves of his predecessor? I know, here comes the posts saying its too early to say anything about Reed and Price, and to wait until the season starts. But, if there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that the more things change, the more they stay the same, and that history repeats itself. Reed and Price were bums then, and they are bums now. The only difference is now they are rich bums.
  5. If you look at the good quarterbacks around the league, they don't use the excuse its the first preseason game, they chuck touchdowns. ie Jake Delhomme. One thing that was glaringly obvious tonight is that Losman is not a good quarterback yet, if he ever will be. That bomb to Aiken in the 4th was a primary example. Good NFL quarterbacks do not miss wide open recieivers deep down the field.
  6. I think 16-0 is a realistic possibility, provided the Holster is QB. Whatcha gonna do when the Holster runs all over you??????????? HOLCOMBMANIA FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. ...Maybe, but Chris Brown is the guy that oversees all the minicamp practices, OTA's, etc, and I remember him saying that Nall looked confused most of the time and that his arm strengh rivals Holcomb's. I'd dig up the link but I only have a short lunch break. Ultimately, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Holcomb is still better than both of them, as he is the only one to this point who has achieved any kind of success–and I use that term loosely–in the NFL.. But we'll start getting a better idea when training camp kicks off. Until then, I'm done speculating on the issue.
  8. The expectations are so diminished this season, that one almost thinks we're going to be have to be pleasantly surprised. As young as we are, I will be happy with a team that plays their best football at the end of the season and improved performances by this years draft class. Without going into prediciting won loss records in the beginning of July–that's more of a August thing– I do predict we will be lauding the Bills draft class by the end of the season. Further, I think it might take a while, but either Nall or Losman will prove themselves as solid NFL starting QB's by the end of the season. Their are weaknesses– we're still a little weak in the trenches; but it will be apparent by the end of the year that we will be a legitimate playoff contender, for next season.
  9. If Kelly Holcomb was in the right situation, he could be the next Joe Montana. His decison making and touch is umparalled. It is my prediction that not only does he win the starting quarterback job, but that he leads the Bills to 10+ wins next season.
  10. JP Losman comes out of the closet by seasons end, and will be etched into football immoortality as the first openly gay quarterback to play in the NFL
  11. Not the owners of the all you can eat buffets. He is probably the one man who can singlehandedly put the Olde Country Buffet out of business with his performances at the dinner table.
  12. Am I missing something? Why are we looking to sit Crowell's ass on the bench? We don't want more 16 tackle, 1 sack 1 int games like he had against KC? Granted, that was not the norm, but I thought he absolutely proved himself to be a solid NFL player. if not a starter.
  13. I think I had a gimp chained up in my basement over those years, I don't remember. Willis really is a punk, and its funny he says he was running cautiously against Ohio St., because I noticed the exact same style when he was running against Tampa Bay and in a few other games. This guy will never be good in a big game, because he will never be able to match a physical defense's intensity. No, I'm not saying we cut him now, as we have no other options. But, I'd bet dollars to donuts this is his last season in Buffalo.
  14. There are far too many people on this board who sit back and wait for typos. Then, they make the errant assumption that an inability or apathy towards accurate typing is a sure sign of stupidity, and they take that as an opportunity to ridicule. Why they do that is a mystery. But, to quote Kobe, it probably has something to do with them not getting hugged enough as a child.
  15. Yeah Baby! Because if there is one thing I know, it is that Draft Daddy is the pundit of all pundits; the prognosticator of all prognosticators, and the prophet of all prophets. Jesus, Muhammad, and Moses cannot hold a candle to the prescient powers of Draft Daddy. Show me the light, oh Draft Daddy. Show me the light.... On a side note, I think Draft Daddy also picked the apocalypse to occur in 2010. Uh oh
  16. Def the best post I've seen on TBD. That Chad Greenway quote remindes me of the Coy Wire reference in the WGR Ode to Tedi Bruschi from last season. Remember that one?? "Thank God for Coy Wire. What a player he is."
  17. What do you expect him to say? I expect to regress and get banished to the CFL in a couple years? Jockspeak and cliches are just that, jockspeak and cliches. Don't read too much into them.
  18. Yep. I'm reserving judgment on Marv's signings until I see them put on pads and play football. But, Marv breaks the bank for this clown and this is how he is repaid?? It's quite likely Price would be bagging groceries if not for Marv. Instead, he is making 10 mil. You'd think he'd have enough class and sense of common decency to at least show up for work.
  19. Mike Williams certainly would 'gobble up the puck.' Of that there is no question. BTW, how has one person's harmless error turned into a 10 page thread? Ahh... the drudgery of the off-season.
  20. That is ridiculous and it is classless to slander a dead man like that. Butler was an excellent GM who had winning teams in Buffalo. Just as importantly, (being a hardcore fan, I can't say more importantly), Butler was a kindhearted man who was great in the community. He didn't fall prey to the holier than thou attitude of superiority that runs rampant around the NFL ranks. He was humble and, in some cases loyal to a fault with his big contracts handed out to non-impact players. (Rogers, Holecek). Certainly, it is fair to criticize some of his moves, like RJ and that black hole of a draft. Although, in terms of worst draft ever, I would have to say it was Donahoe's 02 draft. There, we were picking in positions of power and still wound up with garbage, and from a salary cap perspective, very expensive garbage. The fact that some of these guys, like Reed and Denney, are still on our roster speaks volumes about the lack of talent on our roster, and is of no credit to Donahoe, who I will always consider one of the darkest figures in Buffalo sports history. But I digress. The point is, if you find it necessary to criticize Butlers moves from 6 years ago, fine. Certainly, some of them are worthy of criticism. But, do not criticize his character. For one, it is unfair and classless, as he is dead. Secondly, anyone who knew the man would know that his character was beyond reproach.
  21. It'll be interesting to compare Huff's and Whitner's seasons and careers as they progress. From what I've seen, their measureables are similar, in terms of size, speed and strengh. The excess attention Huff was getting over Whitner was just that: excess attention generated by the media. the sports media, like the rest of the media, develops a pack mentality where they all cover the same stories and the same players. It makes their jobs easier then having to do any independent research to see how good other players are. My bet is that Whitner's gym rat mentality combined with his sheer talent will make him the better pro player.
  22. As you stated, you have no idea how these picks will pan out. So, whether it is fair to invest all this faith in Marv is also yet to be determined. If these are good picks and the Bills improve, the faith will be well placed.
  23. Fair enough, maybe flashy wasn't the right word for his picks, but it was for his moves in free agency. It just seemed like Donahoe's picks were motivated by his desire to prove he was smarter than everyone else. By reaching to pick Losman, he seemed to be rolling the dice so that way if Losman panned out, everyone would be praising Commander Tom and his intuitive foresight. Ditto Roscoe Parish when the last thing we needed was a squirt pass receiver. No matter what, he'd always have to make a headline on draft day and throughout the offseasons, one way or the other.
  24. Mike Williams is a Buccaneer, and what an addition he will make too
  25. I was as shocked and baffled as anyone when Donte Whitner's name was called out on Sunday. But, after further review, you have to admire Marv's approach compared to Tom's. While Donahoe was always going for the big splash, making moves that he knew would have his buddies Mel and Mort fawning all over him like Vito on that biker dude, Levy made picks that, if he cared to think about it, he knew would draw criticism from the so-called draftniks. While Donahoe's picks were driven by his ego and his neverending Chuck Schumer like need for attention, Levy's picks were made solely for one reason: to improve his football team. Were they good picks? Who knows at this point, but Levy's heart was in the right place when he made them. I believe Levy will, in time, bring success back to Buffalo, as he clearly has his plan in place and will not veer off course for the big money and fabulous prizes, the way Donahoe did with Bledsoe and Milloy, when they became available. And, for anyone bemoaning the fact that Mel gave us a C for the draft, remember, he gave the 01 draft an A, as we had can't miss prospects such as Fat Mike and Stonehand Josh in the first two rounds. One guy was too fat, the other was too slow. Throughout free agency and this draft, there is no question we became much faster and more athletic. I think when you add Whitner, Youboty, Simpson, Price, and Andre Davis, all 4.4 40 guys–or better– to a team that already has some physical specimens in McGahee, Evans and Mcgee, you have the pieces in place of a young athletic team that will be on the upswing. These are guys who should grow together and eventually win together. This is in stark contrast to Donahoe's feel good instant gratification kind of moves that made headines, when he signed fading stars and made flashy picks. Throughout Donahoe's tenure, he never put together a 'team' in the full sense of the word. Rather, it was a bunch of pieces that never could make a puzzle. Overall, I feel a lot better with Marv pulling the strings than Commander Tom.
