  1. Only after Bollinger graduated.... and just look at what Bollinger is doing for the Jets. JDG
  2. Of course, most NFL teams who play almost the entire year with their 3rd, 4th, and occasionally even the 5th-string QB under center would probably produce similar results. Just imagine the Colts with Jim Sorgi under center instead of Peyton Manning (Jim Sorgi is the guy who was Brooks Bollinger's backup at Wisconsin.) JDG
  3. Sorry..... just having some fun! Of course, I agree - Ngata seems like exactly the kind of player who could be around whenever the Bills pick - which looks likely to be between 5 and 10 at this point. JDG
  4. After all... those December draft ratings are made in stone. O.k., so we all know that Reggie Bush should be #1.... but personally, I'd hate to draft the next Levi Jones this year and be skewered by Mel Kiper on draft day for "reaching"! ;-) JDG
  5. Haloti Ngata - The Tongan Terror.... although I highly doubt that the Bills will be picking 4th.
  6. I'd clarify that at 1-2 years. I think that it is possible to make huge steps forward at head coach, offensive line, and defense (all the way to average in the case of the last two) in just one year with some well-timed moves. JDG
  7. We'll see about that. It does seem, though, that one of the worst things that ever happened to Eli was making that falling-backwards throw to beat Denver. And we'll see about Losman. I really hope that he can turn in a good performance on Saturday night to give us all some hope here. I agree that at times he has looked poised, and thrown hard, but then at the end of the day you realize that he has played just well enough for us to lose, whether it is the key turnover in the redzone, the key incompletion on 3rd down, or the drive-killing sack while trying to make a play. JDG
  8. Well, Eli Manning has looked bad on occasion this year. But let's look at the tale of the tape for this year: 60% completion percentages: Eli -2; JP-1 (vs. Houston) = ADVANTAGE ELI 300+ yard games: Eli - 3, JP - 0 (max 224) = ADVANTAGE ELI 225+ yard games: Eli - 6, JP - 0 ADVANTAGE ELI 3+ TD Pass games: Eli - 2, JP - 1 = ADVANTAGE ELI Worst Completion Percentage: Eli - 38.7%, JP - 37% = ADVANTAGE ELI 3+ INT Games: Eli - 2, JP - 1 = ADVANTAGE JP (I had to give him one) >150 Yard Passing Games: Eli - 1 (146), JP - 4 (max 137) = ADVANTAGE ELI >100 Yard Passing Games: Eli - 0, JP - 2 = ADVANTAGE ELI In other words, Eli's best has been far above JP's best, and JP's worst seems to be slightly below to well below Eli's worst. Is Eli's worst below JP's best? Yes. Is Eli just as bad as JP? I don't think that it is even close. But wait, this is Eli's second year starting. How did he do last year? Last year, Eli played 7 games. This year JP has played 9. Eli had one atrocious game - on the road in Baltimore, throwing for less than 100 yards. JP has had two of those games already. One in a comparable situation on the road in Tampa. The other, an inexcusable 75-yard effort in San Antonio against the woeful Saints. Indeed, Eli's first four games last year came under incredibly difficult circumstances: against Atlanta and Philly, and on the road in Philadelphia and Washington - four of the top defenses in the whole League for his first starts. By contrast, two of JP's first four games were against two of the worst teams in the League, Houston and New Orleans. Moreover, by Eli's last three games the signs of promise were there. He completed 70% of his passes at home against Pittsburgh - a playoff team last year, had a mediocre day at Cincinnati, and then completed 67% of his passes at home against Dallas. By Contrast, the best JP has been able to do since the Houston game was 56% passing against Kansas City, follwed by 55% outings at San Diego and vs. Carolina. By the Miami game, he was back down to a woeful 50%. So in other words, while Eli started out as cover-your-eyes awful with the Giants last year, by this point in his career he was already showing far more signs of promise than JP Losman has shown us at this point.... which, to say the least, is disconcerting. 9. John Elway. He has two Super Bowl rings. He's lost a bunch of Super Bowls. He's emotional and can get in people's faces. He's a great player from the late 80's and 90's who led his team to offensive success. He was great at calling plays in the huddle. He's a proven winner, and a great leader. Why not? JDG
  10. Because Tony Dungy, Peyton Manning, and Edgerrin James are chopped liver - right? JDG
  11. Did the comeback in Houston tell you that Fitzpatrick can play in the NFL too? JDG
  12. I don't think the question before the house is "Was Marv Levy a good NFL Head Coach?" I think that debate was pretty-well settled about four years ago in a little town in Ohio called Canton. The question before the house, seems to be, "Would bringing back Marv Levy help the Buffalo Bills?" The answer to that, for about one hundred reasons, is a resounding NO." JDG
  13. Well, in fairness, Dan Henning seems to have done pretty well for himself since leaving Buffalo..... JDG
  14. He's also from the Baltimore area, so he knows of what he speaks.... ... and of course, loook how much grief he takes once he opens his mouth.... JDG
  15. And not just Bellichick, but how about Tony Dungy and Andy Reid - which together probably account for three of the top head men in the League. JDG
  16. I heard that Barry Switzer is available.....
  17. I don't know how CBS is calculating the Strength of Schedule... maybe they are doing it only on the basis of games played (which would be silly), but I have the Bills with a worse SOS than Tennessee. By my calculations, here are the SOS standings (the numbers indicate total wins of all 16 of each team's opponents): St. Louis (five wins) - 101 Buffalo - 103 Tennessee - 104 Cleveland - 105 Arizona - 105 Detroit - 106 NY Jets (three wins) - 107 Baltimore - 108 New Orleans (three wins) - 109 Oakland - 110 Philadelphia (five wins) - 110 Green Bay (three wins) - 112 Right now, the Bills have the sixth pick in the draft, behind Houston, San Francisco, NY Jets, New Orleans, and Green Bay. JDG - Who personally hopes that the Bills run the table to finish 7-9. Winning, after all, would be far more valuable for building on next year than an extra few spots in the draft.
  18. That must be it! Bledsoe's home-road disparity is surely no worse than any other successful NFL QB's! JDG
  19. Having a guy drawing double-coverages can't hurt either....
  20. But hey the fans want to cut Moulds too..... basically if you're not playing on a rookie-level contract for this team, the fans want you gone, leadership be damned.... JDG
  21. Fair enough, although he did take four sacks in that game! But look at his next three stat lines on the road from this season. 24 of 38 with 2 picks *@ San Francisco* (in a game they nearly lost!) with 2 sacks. 11 of 26 with 1 pick @ Oakland with 4 sacks. 13 of 24 with 2 picks @ Seattle with 4 more sacks!!!! Don't go telling me that Bledsoe consistently gets it done for the Cowboys on the road. JDG
  22. Come back to me when he does it on the road....
  23. Well, let's take the Miami Dolphins, who are the darlings of the moment. Their offensive line starters, by draft round are: 1st, 3rd, 6th, and two free agents, Jeno James and Daimon McIntosh. And how about New England? Get this: 1st, 3rd, (Matt Light, who is injured, was a 2nd-rounder), an undrafted free agent, and two street free agents. Tom Ashworth, another key backup, was also a street free agent. The Jets? A 4th, a 5th, an undrafted free agent, an unrestricted free agent in Pete Kendall, and a street free agent in Scott Gragg. The Broncos? A 1st, 4th, 4th, 7th, and a street free agent. Atlanta? Three 7th rounders, and two unrestricted free agents: Matt Lehr and Todd Weiner. The Bills, if you include Mike Williams, are featuring a 1st, three unrestricted free agents (Teague, Villarial, and Anderson), a street free agent in Mike Gandy, and of course the undrafted Jason Peters. Based on the above, if anything the ownership has shown a strong commitment to making sacrifices to build the foudnation of this team by opening up the checkbook to sign three unrestricted free agents. The problem, based on the above, is clearly not lesser commitment to sacrifices than other teams. The problem is getting burned by Mike Williams, and the problem is making the *wrong* sacrifices. Its bad decisions that have killed this o-line, not a lack of commitment. JDG
  24. And Brady, Manning, and McNabb have all been known to occasionally play decent on the road. JDG
  25. Made them insanely and grauitously launch an ad hominem attack against the owner who has kept the Bills in Buffalo for the last forty years? I don't think Ralph Wilson needs that kind of insult to know that Bills fans are frustrated. Heck, Ralph Wilson's the guy who's going to die without ever seeing a championship...... JDG
