  1. Ford has not gotten better over the years as you would expect a 2nd round pick to do. This was an unfortunate pick. At the time people thought it was a decent risk, but it has not panned out. He’s cheap, but if he doesn’t show significant progression in training camp, I hope they would use his roster spot on someone with upside.

Imagine thinking Allen + McKissick is better than Allen + Breece Hall. This board sums up why we haven’t done anything in the Bills existence.

Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate having McKissic over Moss or even Singletary on 3rd down situations, but Breece Hall is basically a better version of McKissic. But whatever.

How many downs has Hall played in the NFL? Zero? Oh, ok. Thought so.

It’s not impossible. We just don’t draft well enough to do it.

sure. Right. I mean Josh was a terrible pick. So was Oliver. And Bass is horrid. Gabe Davis sucks for sure. Tying up Tre white was stupid. Milano’s contract last year was a mistake. He should have kept Tyrod. And FA signings and trades like Poyer, Hyde, Diggs, Morse, sanders, Beasley… just stupid. He’s horrible. You are clearly right.

    Enjoy your delusions.

But this is why we don’t win Super Bowls. You need high end talent at all positions. Breece Hall is faster and equally catches passes as well as McKissic. I don’t want to just get better, I want to dominate. That’s what it takes to win Super Bowls.

Still on a crusade, eh? The anti-beane stuff is getting laughable. But I’m sure you know more than him.

Question- how many NFL Executive of the Year awards have you won?

To me is still looks like quantity hole fillers rather than 1 or 2 difference makers. Beane will have to wean himself of the desire to be the deepest roster in the NFL (have arguably been that for 2 years) to focus more on having the 4 or 5 difference makers most Superbowl winners have (we have 3).

Allen, Diggs, White. Then Oliver, who is rounding into one. There’s 4. We need one more, I agree. Hopefully a pass rusher, because while great pressure stats are impressive, hitting QBs and getting them in the ground has been severely lacking, and is far more impactful that only pressure.

I had him returning to Buffalo at $2.75M....(basically a $2M hit on the Bills cap).....if he really got $4M that's another $1M type over-pay.

The investment is large enough that he's gotta' be considered the starting slot receiver...........but also small enough that you can see them paying a high end veteran TE to pair with Knox and using more 12 personnel.

I think 8mil is a good price for him. Depends how the contract is structured but McKenzie at $8 isn’t going to preclude the Bills from signing anyone else in FA.

Beane likes to make moves so he isn’t forced away from best player available in the draft. I expect his next priority is CB.

But isn’t coaching responsible in some ways to player execution? Or is that strictly under talent performance? If a player can consistently perform, is that a coaching issue or a talent issue?

True or false, can a coach win with inferior talent if they are a superior coach with better strategy?
How much can a coach, coach up? Preparedness? Situational awareness? Statistical advantages under certain situations that are diagnosed in real time?

you are right. McDermott got to the playoffs with Taylor. McDermott is a superior coach. Actually, one of the best in the NFL. Enjoy your obsessive, fact-free crusade.

Then he either needs better surrounding talent or our coaching is the issue we aren’t winning Super Bowls.

    Nope. Wrong.

So some say winning in the NFL is hard. Some say it takes luck. I say it all comes down to roster talent and coaching to get the most out of that roster talent (player execution). Where do you stand at the moment, who is to blame for not winning any Lombardis?

A lot of posters here feel we have a top 5 roster. Which ultimately begs the question, how exactly should we qualify what is “top 5” , which metrics are we going to use. Should we use positional statistical quartiles for every team position and weight them based on positional importance? I’m serious, I would like to sit down and debate how exactly we should gauge this.

Some posters here feel we aren’t winning Lombardis because of coaching strategy and maximizing player execution. Which coaching statistics should we use to gauge coaching performance? I want to try and be as less subjective as possible when trying to determine where fault is placed.

I don’t believe in luck. I believe in talent and talent execution. Luck is a crutch people use to excuse away failure.

How is it that some NFL teams can win Lombardis on less than top 5 roster talent, but somehow we supposedly can’t?

Please discuss as honestly as you can.

in my opinion, it is because people on message boards who are on a crusade know way more than playoff coaches and GMs, and all would be solved it such posters were given control of the team. Step up!

People on here tell me we have a top 5 NFL roster, how can that be true if we have a punter that’s ranking last in some punting metrics?

It’s true. A bad punter who can be replaced ruins the whole roster, and makes Josh Allen and diggs useless. It is actually grounds for firing McDermott, Beane, Frazier, and the Pegulas should sell the team because of it.

    So Mack didn't get traded?

My point is, you evaluate an entire offseason, including the draft. You don’t get your little panties in a bunch because someone makes a trade. People are reactionary, emotional, and nonsensical.

Or you can whine like so many of the silly posters in this thread.

As soon as Beane and McDermott got here, the Bills started going to the playoffs after years of drought. I don’t think that is luck.

but people get emotional and whiny like children.

Bean has made it very clear by now that he thinks JA and a bunch of role players can win a Championship.  It can't.  The Rams proved this, the Bucs the year before who with Brady still went out and added key high-production players.  Bean is awful.  Thanks for getting us here, time for a GM who knows how to construct teams that can actually not blow games on D.

So diggs is a role player? Wow, ok.

Beane's not well at all signing free agents,  I think Beasley is one of few

OK, what is that 4 posts in this thread alone claiming Beane is a bad GM? Enough of the crusade. The Bills have gone to the playoffs in all but one year since he's been here. Let's stick to reality. I'd like to see your "long list" of bad FAs.

  13. I loved what Beasley did for the Bills. Dude is fantastic at finding spots in a zone. This year he looked slower to me. He was also a distraction for much of the year, and that was kind of a pain. I do think in some ways his anti-vax thing and overall negativity was a bad influence on some players. He's 32 and in decline, but still good.

So he's a good vet, and would be good to have back from a football standpoint, but not at his salary. Every year he's going to get slower.

Dunne is known to members of this board.

"Josh Reed is a Murrow and Emmy Award winning journalist...and Sports Director" of Buffalo News 4 since 2015.  A real flame thrower there.

    As he just put it:

"Some of y’all are funny. You want reporters to give you insight on your team… unless you disagree with it"  and " It’s a tweet not a web story. Don’t fans want to hear what we’re being told I credible sources?"

Apparently the answer is no for many here.

Well buying into Dunne's schtick it certainly fits the anti-McDermott agenda some have here, despite his winning record and getting the Bills to the playoffs in all but one year. I'm not saying he's Dickerson or anything, but some people have an agenda and an axe to grind.

"...It comes down to execution, which starts and ends with the Head Coach... I take full responsibility for the execution that wasnt where it needed to be"

Same thing he's said all along. What more do people want? Self-flagellation on Empire Sports Network?

Basically there are number of people who have been on an anti-McDermott crusade, and it started well before the playoff game. We all know who they are, and they are kinda ridiculous. McDermott has been an incredibly successful coach since he's been here, despite having Tyrod one year and a rookie QB the next. I wouldn't let 16 seconds ruin all that, unless you are a troll on a crusade. There seem to be plenty of those.

Look, a head coach is supposed to call out people when they don't perform, including himself. He does that. Daboll had some really crappy games that he called. Like monumentally horrible. Pittsburgh. The first NE game. And McDermott called him out. And our running game got on track and turned the season around. That's good coaching, although some goons don't want to admit it. And some of the press who can't find a regular job are trying to manufacture something.
