True. My ignore list is getting bigger, and it certainly makes staying up to date and the camaraderie we all share better. There's no way I'm going to let a negative moron steal my joy.

I'm 44 years old later this month.  Grew up watching the 1990s Bills.  Suffered through every moment of the drought.

Hate to say it.  But I'm finding it almost impossible to enjoy watching this team.  It's been that way since the 17 second debacle.

My expectation is Super Bowl.  Period.  Nothing else this team does impresses me in the slightest.

Wins no longer get me excited.  Losses frustrate me beyond all understanding.

Maybe I'm just a grumpy old fart now.  But I probably enjoyed football more when the Bills were bad.

Makes me wonder why you would keep doing something if it doesn't make you happy? I used to be grumpier and pissed off about the Bills sometimes, and I made a conscious decision to not let that crap overtake me. Your own happiness is more important than a football team.

The average golfer is old and completely unathletic so yes he may be better than average but that's not saying much. Golf is fine for us normal Joe's but if I was a world class athlete at something I would probably not enjoy being bad or average at something else that a normal guy down the street could beat me at

What do you consider average? 15 handicap?

Making broad statements like this without an ounce of sense doesn’t help the argument you are trying to make.

A golf sw8ng and a football throw have nothing in common.  You don’t mofve your elbows when you swing.

Actually, your left elbow might bend a bit, and your right elbow bends a heck of a lot. But your right elbow isn/t used to generate power.

The ESPN+ PGA Tour Live feed had some good coverage of Josh on Thursday.  HIs game definitely looked better than it did back in the spring/summer when he played in the "The Match" with the other QBs.  Anyone know where he plays in the Buffalo area during the Summer/Fall?  Just curious.

As an aside, I had the opportunity to play Torrey Pines earlier this week under "tournament conditions" following last week's Tour event.  The setups (rough and pin positions) these guys play under are pretty damn tough.  Hard to believe these guys make any birdies let alone shoot 10+ strokes under par.

Yeah, played TPC Scottsdale around tournament time. Holy crap, the bombs those guys hit. Some of those carries are insane.

  4. I’m a golfer. I play 75 or so rounds a year.  I’m a 6.8 handicap right now. In my younger years I got as low as 5. I’m actually going to play tomorrow! I’ve had golfer’s elbow.

A golf swing is nothing to worry about. The right elbow is active in the swing, but it doesn’t really absorb any shock from taking a divot. And golfer’s elbow is different from a ucl injury.

Power and speed in the golf swing comes from unhinging the wrists and uncoiling your torso, not swinging as hard as you can. If you take a violent swing to try to hit it further you probably suck at golf.

if anything, time away from “work” is probably a great thing for Josh. Recharging is the best thing for him. This year was intense. He deserves a break.

Plus, golf is awesome. A lot if the timing and rhythm aspects of golf translate well from playing qb to golf. The mental aspect, too. Golf can only help.

Now if you were to tell me he was going to hit 1000 balls of those green driving range mats, I’d say he should never do that. Those things suck, and I will never hit irons off those. They caused over a year of left elbow and wrist issues for me. They are stupid and they suck.

Gotta think golfing puts more stress on that elbow than a flag football game. Source: I am a golfer and I occasionally throw a football.

Highly doubtful, unless you have a horrible swing. The right elbow in golf does bend, but it should be a gentler motion than throwing a football. The left elbow feels more of the impact when taking a divot. A good golf swing should be smooth, generating power from your wrists unhinging rather than trying to swing hard. If you are trying to generate power by trying to swing really hard, chances are you suck. Josh is definitely an ok golfer and I bet he’ll end up scratch at some point.

source: I play 75 or so rounds a year (currently a 7 hcp) and occasionally throw a football. So not scratch, a teacher, or a pro, but have a pretty good idea of the swing we’re all chasing.

After last year, some time away from football is a good thing. And to play pebble beach instead of a bunch of stupid games? No brainer.

  6. No GM is going to throw anyone under the bus at a press conference. I think inside the walls they know they have a ton of stuff to shore up. McDermott suggested that in his presser.

people here are pissed he’s not screaming and stomping his feet in a press conference. Nor is he going to go into details on plans for improvement. Last year he said there probably would t be big fa signings. Then they signed Von.

CLEARLY, the Bills should not intentionally try to concuss Tua.

What they better do is have a game-plan in place that tries to knock around Tua.  If he plays, we know he can be hit.. and that those hits can greatly affect his ability.

If anyone on this team/staff is holding back because of Hamlin, we are not long for the post-season.

Not saying they shouldn't touch him. And I think getting after the QB is pretty much key to any game plan with an above-average QB. That's much different than trying to concuss the guy, or purposefully injure him.

Are you serious? I have no concerns over either of those things.

If Tua plays, I would hope the players do their best to knock him out of the game, and that should be made very clear to them this week by the coaching staff.

You look the wrong at Tua in his current condition and he is going to get another concussion.  We need to capitalize on that.

He should not have played another snap this year after his second concussion on TNF.

If he isn't going to care about his own health, why should the Bills?

not only is purposefully injuring someone morally wrong, it is disgusting seeing what happened to DH.

Bills are classier than that, even if you aren’t.

  9. I must admit, I’m disgusted by people who can’t see what a quality coach and human being McDremott is. The guy is an incredible leader. Those who think otherwise have likely never had to lead other people. I’m comfortable calling critics of him cowards. Leading is difficult, and you’re never perfect. But he’s close to perfect, and I’d love an hour to talk with him about his values and methods of a leader.

Was discussing with wife. We’re both physicians and this is what we think as well . One moment talking to teammates and the next, on the ground. Aortic rupture/dissection is likely - something caused blood from reaching the brain quickly. V fib from a hit to chest wouldn’t have been delayed.

My wife had a VAD. They are variable. If it was a complete tear of one of the arteries, the other would have still fed the cerebellum. Hers was a partial tear and clot, and she likely ran a triathlon that way. She collapsed after, but got up. Had a stroke in the hospital.

this seems different than that, but what do I know. Scary, terrible, and I shouldn’t be speculating.

  11. I sure do hate to see someone lose their livelihood. And I feel bad that I was a part of it by sending a letter to the Niagara gazette expressing my concern. I would much rather have him go to sensitivity training or a course on women’s studies so he could improve himself. Not the ideal outcome imho.

On the other hand, he’s been a jacka$$ for years. I thought he’d turned a corner, but he’s always asked questions just to try to get a reaction from players & coaches, not for any journalistic merit. I’ve done my best to ignore him, but in such a small market it is hard to actively avoid his schtick. I won’t miss it.

hopefully he takes the time to do some genuine introspection and comes back a better man.

So, who decides what sins deserve canceling and please don't say the community because you can see where the Salem witch trials got us. Thank good for the first amendment and you don't have to watch his stuff ...just don't canceling him over it like a child  throwing a fit

So many people don't understand what the first amendment is. You can usually tell an idiot by when/how they bring up the first amendment. First amendment guarantees you can say (mostly) whatever you want. It doesn't guarantee that you are immune from the consequences resulting from what you said.  Nor does it guarantee you the right to a public platform.

Jerry can spout his idiot chauvinism on a street corner somewhere. Nothing is stopping him. However, if you say something stupid like Jerry did that exposes your stupidity, you are responsible for the reaction.
