I have to wonder about those unemployment stats. You know what they say, that those who have stopped looking for a job aren't included. And as for that murder rate. Yikes. Those circulation issues could be better - cpmpensate for the comfort food (wings, pizza) by using the gym a little / lot more. Maybe the city has flatlined... Traffic isn't that bad. Houses are affordable. The sports teams could step it up! Big city people carry that pushy, me, me attitude evrywhere they go.

Eddie Shack from Tennessee and Broadway! I love that shot of Eddie collaring the California Seal! In exchange for Eddie Shack the Sabres picked up Rene Robert from the Pens. And speaking of Eddie Shore he has a Buffalo connection having coached the Bisons to AHL Calder Cup Championships in 1943 and 1944.

I don't know much about Anaheim as I am in S.D. I only visit Anaheim for an occasional hockey game. I do know of a good breakfast spot in Huntington Beach called the Sugar Shack on Main Street. Good food, good portions and fair price. It can get crowded quickly so arrive early especially on weekends. As for good casual Mexican in S.D. I would consider El Comal on Illinois Street and El Zarape on Adams.

I had a pennant that had that image on it. I kept a lot of stuff over the years (early Bills,Sabres and Braves pennants) but I believe that I lost the "Buffalo Bill" version.

That is insane! Where was Kobiashi (sp)? I have to wonder about how long some of these people are going to live. Stressing the body like that can't be good.

I may be wrong but I believe that the Bills came closest to beating the Dolphins during their undefeated season. 24-23 or something like that. There were a couple of games when some unbelievably bad calls went for the Dolphins. The Bills were bad in those days but at their worst against Miami. Miami did have some good teams. One year the Bills were shut out twice in one season by the Baltimore Colts. It was so frustrating. Then Orenthal came along but the Bills still couldn't beat them. It was Coach Knox that finally got them. Nice hat trick by Jeff Nixon! The rivalry is still there but like most it would be better if both teams were competitive. Brian Cox and Louis Oliver added fire to the pot. However, the best part was the added competition between Kelly and Marino. There is also bad call history with the Patriots especially the one in about '98 when the officials lost track of downs after one play and mismarked the ball on another.

On my most recent visit I stopped in the Hockey Hall of Fame. If you are willing to fight through the Toronto traffic, I recommend the HOF! I liked the ending but I would have liked more drama from Smokey. I saw the journey as an actual period after death in which the characters did not yet know they were dead. Instead, they were in an intermediary plane in which they proved unknowingly whether or not they were worthy of following the light into heaven. Michael and Ana Lucia were not worthy. Maybe Danielle Rousseau and her daughter Alex were worthy but had already passed to heaven. The church congregation was mostly (entirely?) of those that who died together from the plane crash and made the grade for the entry into heaven. Ben may make it into heaven but had not yet let go of his current state by following the light. The congregation seemed to be mostly of crash survivors which did not include Ben. Who knows what happened to the souls of other crash victims who died earlier. Maybe they made it to heaven or like Michael were left to murmur among the boars. I thought the last fifteen minutes was very well done. It was a subtle fifteen that was well written. It was not what I expected. When I first saw the church and the various characters assembling I feared that there might be some odd ending like Hurley and Libby getting married! Kimmel was hilarious in the aftershow especially when thanking Michael (Harold Perrineau) for killing Ana Lucia! I thought there would be more commercials along the lines of the Target spots which were hilarious. In time, we will see the show more clearly. I thought it was a classic show. Much of what is on TV leads me to instead opt for reading. Lost gave us something for the brain. I will once again acknowledge the audio (music and sound effects) that really accented the action especially, the Smoke Monster sounds.

Nice assist by Kane. Bigger assist by the ref. Bad call. If the play is flagrant then make the call. Otherwise, stay the hell out of it. Hawks had a nice comeback and the Sharks ran out of gas in the third. Nice face Duncan Teeth.

I want a return of the polar bears. Maybe Ben gets shredded by a boar. Who will appear that was presumably dead? Some lesser character may reappear. I could see Michael or Walt showing up. Maybe Danielle will come out of the ground. I wouldn't mind Ana Lucia showing up again only to get offed again. I couldn't stand her character but the acting was effective. I would think that Ben stays on the island but my guess is that they will off him for all the trouble he has caused. Desmond should be the key to many of the remaining questions. Will he be the one who finishes Smokey? It has been a fun ride people. Enjoy the ending! Let's hope they don't let us down!

The Exorcist worked for me. Does The cook, the thief, his wife and her lover count as horror? It was certainly bizarre.

I was hoping for more competive series in this round. Philly doesn't sit around and let their goalie do the work. The Flyer defense wastes little time with their breakouts. Chicago has a rope-a-dope style in which they sustain some pressure for a while and when an opportunity comes up they capitalize. The winning goal for Chicago in Game Five was due to a lack of concentration by the Sharks defense and ultimately Nabokov. I don't know what happened to the Habs in yesterdays second period, they looked tired and unable to keep up. I want both the Sharks and Habs to wake up and give us seven games and hopefully some OT. More hockey please, before we settle into summer. I thought both Carolina nd Anaheim had very good defensive teams that got by offensively. Neither was flashy and fun to watch but they won. I was happy the Ducks took down the Senators. I am still happy about that one!

I haven't spouted much about Lost in a while but I am up to date with the episodes. I find it comical that as we speculate about who will live and die, we have to think about who is still alive after all these time shifts going on. They still call James, Sawyer and Smokey, Locke! Hurley was on Kimmel last night (along with his deformed action hero doll!). Jack was also on Letterman but didn't say a whole lot. Try as they may, they will never come close to replicating the quality of this show. Enjoy the last episodes as a classic is passing before our eyes!

I am going through my second bout with plantar fasciitis. It has been about five months now for the recent onset (different foot). No to the running and yes to the rest. Cycle instead of run. Definitely stretch (carefully). I bought some new cross trainers a few weeks back and I felt better immediately. I still feel the cramps after getting out of bed and after getting up from sitting for a while. It is still there but getting better. I would think that orthotics would help. In my case, I have an abnormal pronation and deformed metatarsals. It is frustrating because I love to run, jump rope and run the stairs. Life Cycle and Stairmaster have had to replace the old regime. I have heard about the tennis ball exercise but haven't yet applied the practice. Be patient, rest, consider buying some comfy shoes and / or orthotics and stretch. Good Luck!

I am renting a car and leaving very early in the morning of the 20th. I haven't been in Toronto in a while so I don't know what to expect. I scoped out a couple of parking garages in downtown. Approximately four million people live in the GTA. so I expect to throw some elbows. I am psyched for the HHOF. I visited the remnants of the Montreal Forum a few years ago and that was still cool even though it is now a shopping mall.

Thank you Philadelphia Flyers! Losing sucks. Losing to the Bruins even worse. A top seed losing to an eight hurts. A defending Coupe de Stanley champion losing to an eight is misery. But flopping a series and game after being up 3-0. Well, it couldn't happen to a nicer fan base. I'm not a Philly fan at all. Philly and Boston come from the same basket. So Philly, you did what we needed you to do now let the Habs take over! Actually, this could be a great series between the Habs and Flyers. A seven and an eight seed? Amazing! To watch without the stress is different now that the Sabres are on the links or whatever they are doing. The Sabres improved but too much improvement is needed on both offense and defense. The Sharks are the only remaining team not to have won a Stanley. I would like to see the Sharks and Habs. I know some want to see Kane win one but not for Chicago.

Congrats to Habs and their fans. They have heart and talent. What a ride. The Pens didn't lay down. Eighteen shots in the third? They just got beat in a classic series. Some will complain that Crosby doesn't play physical and when he does he gets criticized for a penalty. Maybe he does whine too much but he also gets mugged too much. When they had that lottery for Crosby a few years back, most everybody wanted Crosby on "their" team including me. I would still like to see Crosby on the Sabres. The guy has great skills and an immense will to win. I can deal with the Habs winning it all. But no Bruins, Flyers or Hawks. If you ever get a chance to visit the Bell Center, you will see this incredible collection of statues of former stars outside the entrance. I would like the Sabres to add a few statues. After they win a few Stanley Cups. Please. I will be back in Buffalo next week and I plan to drive up to TO. to visit the Hockey Hall of Fame for the first time. That Original Six designation always bothered me. I believe Vancouver did win the first championship. There were other teams: Montreal Maroons, NY Americans and Toronto St Pats come to mind. Sometimes I wonder if playing on the road helps as much in hockey as other sports. The Pens better hope so because they looked lethargic on Monday night in Montreal. The Habs looked like they wanted it more. The pressure is on the Pens. I think the Pens will take it with a riot in Montreal whether the Habs win or lose.
