Pittsburgh didn't trade for that pick. However, the 49ers did just trade two 5th round picks for the Jets' 4th round pick. And that's straight up-- as in, they didn't even give up their own 4th. And the Jets also traded away a 4th round pick for next year's 3rd from the Lions. Again, straight up. That's a normal trade value for any draft.

So your assessment of trade value is way off. It wouldn't have taken much to move up or even acquire an extra pick this round.

And there have been 7 trades this round with teams moving up or acquiring picks so there's no shortage of partners either.

    Maybe.

Maybe teams arent as willing to help out the Bills as they are the Jets. Already reported no one took our calls on the last trade up attempt.

More than WR?  C'mon man.  We got nobody to throw the ball to.

    Yes, unfortunately.

Look, there are only so many balls to go around on Offense.

    Samuel

    Coleman

    Shakir

    Kincaid

    Knox

    Cook

Anyone we draft at this point is coming in as maybe our 6th or 7th option at best. Probably wouldnt even beat out Shorter or Isabella.

Any DT or Safety we draft will see decent playing time and have opportunities to directly contribute every snap they play.

I want another WR too. Dont get me wrong. But at this point, we're likely looking at cuts not draft picks.

Did they really want Bishop? They tried trading up but he's not going to admit if it was for someone else (Bullard)

It was for Bishop, and he should have been our target over Bullard. We already have 2 Bullards on the roster with Rapp and Edwards. Needed someone to fill Hyde's role.

    We will see I guess

Absolutely. Maybe Sean Payton proves what a QB guru he is. But I've watched Nix in college for the past 15 years, and was never impressed once. He got clowned a lot down here in SEC country. Had to run away to the PAC just to get any hype.

He goes to the team that drafted his college QB. To me that sounds like he instantly has a relationship and trust with his QB that he’s been catching TDs from for years.

    just sayin

    See above

They can have all the chemistry in the world. Good for them. I'm sure their wedding ceremony will be beautiful.

Wont matter when Nix is sailing passes out of bounds, not seeing the open WR, and getting sacked because he missed the blitz.

So we acquired all these draft picks to be able to move around the board and now we're just going to watch every remaining viable WR get taken when we could easily move up and get one?

    Who promised you the bold?

Beane watched us lose a ton of starters. We have holes all over the Defense, especially in depth. Anyone who thought we were going to sacrifice a bunch of picks for mid-round WRs was on the wrong track.

Plus, you need 2 to tango and most of the teams are aware that the talent in this draft drops off a cliff after about 130 players. So those 5ths are worthless for trades.

    Case in point:

PIT just used a 2025 3rd for this pick?

Price is high for trade-ups it seems.

You need to move next year's good picks just to get up in this draft.

I don't follow the college game.  Is anyone bummed that Green Bay took Bullard two picks before we took Bishop?  Bullard's highlights looked kind of awesome.  How do the two rate vis-a-vis each other?

Bullard is a short/stocky Strong Safety type that will come up and plug the box, like Poyer's role. We already have 2 of those in Rapp and Mike Edwards.

We were missing the long, rangy Free Safety ballhawk to replace Hyde. That is Bishop. And he can come up and hit better than Hyde.

I like Bullard, but was hoping for Bishop or Bullock. Happy we got Bishop. Exactly what we needed.

  8. A young DT was a huge need. Yeah, Beane recently found some bodies, but he always does at positions of need before the draft, just in case. With our rotation, and keeping DTs fresh and healthy anyways, Carter should see the field and have chances to contribute as much as any "starter".

Franklin, Rice, Baker, and Tez Walker are all still out there and dont seem to be flying off the shelf any time soon.

    It aint over.

Jesus christ. You mean the same people that Daniel Jeremiah still has listed in his top 100 or even top 75 players? Those guys? You make it sound like because they are still there and I have heard of them that they suck. Try again

If Jeremiah has them listed in his top 100, and no NFL team in reality drafts them in the top 100, who was inaccurate? All 32 teams, or Jeremiah?

  10. I want Mitchell, but I expect we'll take DeJean.

I think we end up with DeJean and Coleman in the 2nd.

DeJean because McD cant help himself. Coleman because Beane gets stuck on big WRs from FSU (like Benjamin).

Now, if we somehow ended up with DeJean, Coleman, AND Franklin then that changes everything.

I think the board was calling for Rosen over Allen. Gotta include the hits and misses to be fair.

We all have plenty of misses when it comes to QB evaluating, but that isnt the topic.

Everything I referred to was regarding digging up talent in the late-1st/2nd round where it gets extra tricky, why I said "in this range", and where we have had issues historically.

The Allen pick isnt relevant in the scope of this discussion.

Beane has had some recent hits in this area with Rousseau, Kincaid, Cook, and O'Torrence. But none of those picks were made in lieu of another player we were all banging the table for.

  12. I know it's easy to sit out here and criticize and second guess, and I love me some Brandon Beane, but...

    The board calling for:

Linderbaum or Dax Hill over Elam

    Humphrey over Basham

    DK Metcalf over Cody Ford

We've been more correct in this range than the Bills FO.

Beane better have a few more magic tricks up his sleeve tonight.

I don't see how Marvin Harrison Jr. is just as great as his old man, the OG Marvin Harrison. Shaking my head. I don't get it. I have never seen the son surpassing the father WHEN the father is already top tier. The son would be lucky just to be in the same tier as his dad.

I don't care how these scouts and Youtubers are selling MHJ. I rather have Nabers, too.

It's happening more and more in modern times now that kids specialize in sports at a young age, and the pipeline to the NFL is workable with their connections (and obviously inherited physical traits and athleticism).

    Ed McCaffery, Christian MCCaffery

    Patrick Surtain, Patrick Surtain Jr.

    Antoine Winfield, Antoine WInfield Jr.

    Asante Samuel, Asante Samual Jr

This is literally the exact opposite of everything I’ve heard leading up to this draft, but ok…

besides, even if you are correct, he can package all those 5ths and move back into the 4th or 3rd. It gives him a lot of flexibility to get who they want tomorrow.

Numerous analysts, and our own resident TBD experts, have this draft at barely 150 "draftable" guys. Where years prior there were 200+.

The COVID eligibility adjustment has played out, and more guys are staying in school for NIL money.

To the bold, easier said than done when the other teams know the talent falls off a cliff after the 4th round.

I'm just not real happy with this strategy right now. We'll see.

With the Bills holding a plethora of picks and Minnesota very few... Jefferson? Though he'd take some very creative accounting when it comes to the cap. And if the Vikings trade him away they may as well aim for the number one pick in 2025.

Vikings arent trading JJ. They have a rookie QB who 1. needs weapons around him and 2. will be on a rookie contract allowing them to pay JJ.

I think Aiyuk is our best hope.
