  1. Expectation: 11 wins. Win the AFC East. Win at least 1 playoff game.

Worst case: 9-10 wins, wild card. Still win 1 playoff game once we get in.

I dont see anything less than that. We still have Josh. We still own the Division. We have a decent schedule this year.

Yes OBJ even at this stage of his career is a better outside WR than anyone on our roster other than maybe Coleman depending on how quickly he gets up to speed. He is the exact type of signing I wanted to see, a baseline floor.

Not worried about Miami at all. Their already garbage defense is going to be even worse and Tua is still Tua.

Fair enough. I dont think it moves the needle much for the Dolphins, and I dont think he'd even see the field much in Buffalo.

Agreed that no one needs to worry about the Dolphins.

    Delightful!

But the fact remains that were it not for a miracle run at the end of last season, they'd have won it.

But they didnt. And we did.

Even worse really. It was all theirs, and they dropped it.

Not to mention we were down going into the game....

    • Micah Hyde
    • Jordan Poyer
    • Tre White
    • Mitch Morse
    • Dane Jackson
    • Ed Oliver
    • Jordan Phillips
    • Khalil Shakir

Then Christian Benford breaks his hand, Greg Van Rotten and Spencer Brown get heat exhaustion.

Tommy Doyle finishing the game with a torn ACL!

Actually this is a continuation of the experiment. Now that teams have witnessed the problems the Bills faced, will they do things differently than the Bills did.

I'm pretty sure the travel was just an excuse. Plenty of other teams traveled to London, none of them complained about jet lag. Let alone used it as an excuse for the next 2 weeks as well.

"Travel" was just used as a cover for "poor coaching".

The NFL is too big I don't see there ever being a true demise but I feel like the NFL will start to go the way of the current NBA.  Ratings and revenue will still be great but the purist fans of football will lose interest and the NFL will generally be talked about how much better the product was 10-15 years ago.  There's a lot of people on the board that deny this but I already see it in a lot of places how people talk about the NFL this way.  It's sad but money talks and that's all that really matters for the Owners of the league.

I mean the NBA is pretty much at an all time high. Franchises are worth a ton. Theyre raking in $$$ from foreign markets. The game is fun to watch and they have a lot of stars with very few players getting into trouble (certainly not at NFL levels).

Maybe some old guys miss the days of tackle basketball from the 80s. But not many.

If you told Goodell what he is doing is going the way of the NBA, that would only encourage him.

The Dolphins are 1-11 against the Bills in the last 6 seasons.

And that 1 win came from the sun. Not the Dolphins team.

  7. 2 minutes ago, Putin said:

You are not worried about Tua throwing the ball ? He had more passing yards then our Franchise QB

Yards dont mean squat. Points and wins are what matters. And over the last handful of years the Dolphins only have 1 win over us, and it took them harnessing the power of the SUN to beat us.

For all the flack I've given McD, he's proven he has Tua figured out. Take away his first option and he's toast.

He's "ok" at getting the ball out to weapons who can YAC. He's not a good field general.

Milano will end him this year.

We've had opportunities to add solid veteran outside WR talent this offseason but we've punted on it. Hopefully one of our upside bets pays off and Coleman hits the ground running.

They were good last year and almost beat us out. That is with Tua and we have Josh. What does that tell you if Tua is so bad. They take another step and they have passed us. Funny how people love to say they are all hype when we are the team underperforming with a top QB.

Essentially punted on the draft - trade back and get Coleman.

Now punting on the vets - we get Claypool.

Are you guys saying old, broken down OBJ is the type of signing you wanted to see?

Yeah. "Almost" beat us out. But didnt. And are like 1-9 against us over the last few years. And most of those were blowouts by the Bills.

Maybe this is their year. But until they prove otherwise, they are our little kids and Josh is their daddy.

Still Tua throwing the ball, so not worried in the least.

At least this will give the talking heads the ammo needed to over-hype the Dolphins, YET AGAIN!

How can the same owner run one of the best franchises in football while at the same time run one of the worst in hockey?

The main difference is Terry fancied himself a "hockey guy" who knew a lot of hockey people and proactively bought the Sabres so he could spend his retirement being an active/meddling owner.

Whereas with the Bills and the NFL, they were kinda pushed into the purchase and quickly realized how in over their heads they were, and were willing to delegate GM and HC searches to outside consultants, and then take a hands-off approach to running the team's football operations.

I wonder if Kim Pegula could be a candidate for a heart transplant.  She's certainly young enough, and if she's that debilitated, it sounds as if it would be warranted.  I know heart transplants are still rarer that most other organ transplants.

Not sure that's even an issue at this point. It certainly wouldnt fix the brain damage she sustained. And she may not be strong enough to handle it.

At $13m my plan would be have him play on the option unless he balls out this year. I'm open to the Tremaine approach with him of let him play on the option then move on and take the comp pick.

I think we can get him back on a Milano/Oliver/White type of contract where they make pretty good money, but it's a very team friendly deal.

I havent thought far enough ahead to know what those numbers might look like, but Beane has done a good job of getting our guys to re-sign at reasonable prices.

Rousseau would seem like he's in that group considering he has been good but not great.

Could be.   I was optimistic about Arthur Moats and he's basically the same guy just 15 years later.   Only notable difference physically or in their college production is that Solomon has huge hands.   Maybe that's the difference between making it and being a journeyman special-teamer like Moats.   Moats was an elite character guy though too,  I don't know about Solomon.

    Interesting.

    Moats was pick #178 to Solomon's #168.

Honestly, if Solomon has the same type of career/contribution as Moats, I'd be happy with that. Even better if he becomes the next Milano, but that's probably not fair.

Moats wasnt a superstar, but he was a consistent, reliable contributor who would make a play or two when needed.

We could certainly do worse at this spot.

Cute, but can you at least agree he hasn't developed into what we all would've hoped?

Not even trying to be cute or sarcastic or call you out individually. Just giving some perspective on expectations.

I think we all agree we'd love every pick to be a superstar, especially our 1st rounders. And Beane needs to start hitting more homeruns than singles and doubles.

But being good and consistently picking in the 25-30 range is a much different life than picking in the 7-12 range like we were all used to for so many years.

    The Edge guys from 2021:

    #12 - Micah Parsons

    #18 - Jaelan Phillips

    #21 - Kwity Paye

    #28 - Payton Turner

    #30 - Greg Rousseau

    #31 - Odafe Oweh

    #32 - Joe Tryon-Shoyinka

Outside of Micah Parsons, I'd argue Groot is the best of that bunch. And even AJE could compete for a spot at the top of that group.

Groot is a solid starter that is still improving. Hopefully that keeps going. AND we wont have to pay him the contract Parsons is about to get.

Not mad. Not surprised. I like the guy really.

But, I can't be the only one who thinks his career thus far has been average at best.

He's been a better version of Epenesa, which BTW isn't exactly high praise.

The #30 overall is a better version than the #54 overall selection, but not as good as the guys selected in the Top 10.

This is probably the best player we drafted and yet he has the lowest page count. bump.

Edit: total speculation but one thing this pick might do is re-energize McD. Poyer and Hyde were getting old and slow. Bishop is fast, plays all over the field, and Qbs the defense.

With Milano and Von back, there's a chance our defense will be really, really good this year.

I'm excited to see what Bobby Babich does as DC, and even more excited to see what he and McD can do with a player like Bishop.

Maybe that is why MCD and Beane stay in house with their Offensive Coordinator choices, Who would come here knowing they would get nothing to work with offensively.  Wide Receiver being the obvious.

Literally any coach in the world would jump at a chance to work with a Top 3 QB. You guys are too much.

Go look at the other OCs hired this offseason in all those coaching changes and tell us who was better qualified and with a better track record than Brady.

We already had one of the top candidates on staff, happy to join as a QB Coach, because of Josh.

    I’ve always believed in Beane.

Not so sure I do now.

This almost seems like arrogance toward all the WR talk thinking he’s smarter than everyone else

I mean, I wont ever say I told you so regarding all the offseason talk about taking 2 WRs early, but if anyone is showing any arrogance here it the folks that worked themselves up into such a lather based on youtube highlight reels, and now you are saying you lost faith in Beane because he didnt do exactly what you, an untrained civilian, wanted him to do. And wanted him to draft guys in the 2nd round that NO team took until the 4th-7th rounds.

Who is thinking they are smarter than anyone else?

I know you are feeling let down after months of hyping this up. I'm bummed we couldnt get one of the Big 3 or BTJ. Let's see how it works out.

When youre normally solid kicker falls apart I always wonder about the holder.  Boroquez was a good punter but terrible holder and that is the reason he isnt in the league anymore.

Could be holder, for sure. There was also some classic McD tomfoolery in decision making that seemed like it could have affected his confidence. Deciding not to kick the FG in certain situations when it seemed obvious, then putting him out there for ridiculous long shots.
