While it isnt the best possible value, looking at the entire list of TE contracts shows that Knox is pretty accurately paid. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/contracts/sort-value/tight-end/limit-100/ The guys ahead of him are all much better. And the 4-5 guys right after him are making about as much but aren't nearly as good. Hardly our worst contract.

Poll: Top reason for the Offense's underperformance
DrDawkinstein replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall
I chose the obvious "Dorsey sucks" but McDermott owns a good portion of the blame too. If for nothing else, not being a complete HC. -
Letting Josh coach himself was the incorrect decision

Yes, exactly. The decision to fire is all Terry. And then up to him on how much he involves the survivors in the new HC hire. He could change the org structure at the time of a new hire, but I doubt he will. He likes it like this. -

In the Pegula hierarchy, both McDermott and Beane have their own direct line to Terry. Beane does not work for McD. And the HC does not work for the GM. I'm not a fan of that flat org style, but it's what we have and will likely have as long as Terry owns the team. -

Both separately answer directly to Pegula. Terry can absolutely fire one but not the other. Neither can fire each other. But Terry should keep Beane and fire McD. -

If McD and Beane are truly a package deal in Pegula's mind then we are absolutely screwed as a franchise. Pegula needs to fire the coaching staff and work with Beane and the FO on finding a new HC. No need to throw the Beaner out with the bath water. -

Oh, I am in no way relieving Josh of any responsibility. He needs to do better as well. Especially in not getting baited into bad decisions because he wants to play hero ball when all we need to do is move the chains with 6 yard chunks. -

Allen is doing all that. Watch the JT O'Sullivan and/or Cover1 break down videos from the Tampa game. He is capable, at times, of making all those pre-snap reads, changing things around, and then finding the right guy in the progression. They arent just lining up and running a set play that is being thrown to Kincaid no matter what. I think Allen's "running the plays that are called" statement is more alluding to the fact that Dorsey isnt scheming anyone open, like Reid does with Kelce in KC. Even if Allen makes ALL the reads and calls and changes, the opposing Defense is ready for the dumb play and scheme Dorsey just called. -
It's nothing new. He's always had these ups and downs. One week he slings it on his first read up and down the field, the next week he's double and triple clutching. What he is missing is someone capable of helping him figure it out.

I dont think this specific decision is fireable in itself. But McD and Dorsey should definitely be on the hotseat and accountable for their work. To me, it wasnt that Dabol "fired him up", but rather the opposite. When Josh started spinning, Dabol would get him under control and focused. Dorsey is unable to do that because Dorsey himself is spinning and unfocused.- 73 replies

A head coach is supposed to admin ALL phases of the team. It's that simple. That's like asking why you'd want your CEO with a Finance background being involved in Operations decisions. Of course they are. They are the CEO now. If McD can't handle that, then he shouldn't be a HC.

I was never in on this whole "Window" conversation, because I believe that as long as we have Josh under contract, our window is open. But the window with this coaching staff has closed. They drew the curtains with 13 seconds. The rest has been the pane slowly sliding down. Time to move on before we waste our talent.

Even worse and even more fireable for someone who is supposed to be HC.

We need this term now more than ever

Everything starts at the top.

We tried to win too. Elderly, absentee (or even worse, meddling) owners just cant get it done.

The problem with the Bears is one that Bills fans should be very familiar with. Their owner is 100 year old Virginia Halas McCaskey. They are stuck in mediocrity until the team is sold after her passing. And then a couple years to right the ship. Nothing will change until that happens, just like in our drought years with Ralph.

The Refs did a good job keeping the flags in their pockets in our Raiders game. Only 6 total flags thrown all game (as opposed to 19 flags in our Jags game, and 20 flags in the Bucs game). I'd take that every time. Even if there were a couple blatant holds that went uncalled. As long as they are going to let both teams play, then I'm good with it.

The real frustrating part is how inconsistent the calls are. Even during the same game, let alone same to game. They'll let guys "hand fight" with Diggs all over the field, but the second Taron touches a WR - FLAG. Then they give us a "make up call" on the next drive with some ticky-tack holding call against our opponent. Like that makes it better. But really just pisses off the OTHER fans as well. I didnt even realize this until you said it but now I'm remembering multiple instances of my wife and I high-fiving and being like "No Flags!". Disgusting, NFL. Disgusting.

When the Bucs got the ball back down 14, when the hot line with all the juice had them covering +9.5, I knew they were going to be handed every opportunity to score a TD. And sure enough, flag after flag after flag. MULTIPLE flags on drive ending plays. They get their TD. Mission Accomplished, Refs.
