Mahomes has clunkers. Burrow DEFINITELY has clunkers.

I find myself watching Mahomes, and when he makes a mistake, thinking "Allen would get slammed for that."

It always seems to me like JA has much less margin for error, and when he makes mistakes, the reaction is more about "a pattern" than the fact that he's just a great player who makes mistakes or has bad games once in awhile.  If I had to guess, I'd say it was because it took him awhile to become the QB he is today, and people formed opinions about him during his 1st couple of years, which were very different.

And because so very many people said he was going to be a bust when drafted.  Few people want to admit they made a mistake, so they pounce on everything he does to sustain their initial incorrect opinion.

I would not call it Super Bowl or bust. But at this point we are past just competing for a playoff spot and possibly losing the division to MIA.

That statement does not make walking around sense. You have no idea what the lay of the land will be in January.  Your statement assumes the Bills will be 10-7 and eliminated in round 1 of the playoffs.  But that is just your supposition, nothing more.  And asking people if they are happy with your pessimistic supposition is just dumb.

Yeah the Dorsey hate has gone far overboard.

Times are very different for these Bills than they were for Daboll in 20-21.

Less skill talent at receiver and Allen is not being used in the run game.

Still.........the offense is more consistent than the one he left behind and has a higher floor as a result.

Agree.  People seem to think it is automatic for an offense/athlete to always bring its "A" game and score 48 points like against Miami.  Sports don't work that way.  You don't always have your A game, and winning with your C game is the mark of a great athlete-- like great pitchers in baseball.

Can you link to it? It’s not on the main page and I can access it with a link.

Tried to do it but failed.  Just go to BN sports page, it's right there.

It's funny, the word sn*tched is not a permitted word on the forum.  🙂

  5. It is behind a pay wall so I won't link it, but he has a very different take on the Giants game.  In a nutshell, he shows that in the first half, the Giants did an excellent job of taking away what the Bills want to do-- an explosive offense.  A combination of good blitzes, and excellent man-to-man coverage aided by lots of tripping and clutching and grabbing by the Giants, utterly spoiled the Bills game plan.  Allen was 8-18.

In the second half,  Dorsey totally changed course and went with a ground and pound running approach that worked.  In their first two possessions (they only had three) the Bills had two long time consuming drives that used up most of the clock.  17 run plays and only 11 passes, and it nullified what the Giants successfully did in the first half.  Allen, with pressure off due to a solid running attack, was 10-11 in the second half, the incompletion being the pass to Knox late.

On that play, Allen had a run/pass option, and he hesitated in his decision making.  He thought about running and held the ball a tad too long before making the throw to Knox.  The result was a poor throw that still could have been caught.  But the play call was excellent and should have ended the game but the execution was poor.

I know everyone hates Dorsey right now, and I guess it is understandable and perhaps warranted.  But his ability to change approach in the second half and ***** victory from the jaws of defeat deserves some credit IMO.

I disagree with some here.  Our QB has a shoulder injury. An AC joint sprain (severity unknown).  Anthony Richardson is in a sling and may have shoulder surgery due to a grade 3 AC joint sprain in right shoulder.  This is not the game I want Allen running up the middle and absorbing contact.  This is a game i'd try to dominate the tranches and run more.  Have him under center, some quick short passes and play action.  Yes, running more might mean the game stays close longer, but Josh needs an easy week on the shoulder.  I have faith the D will force a takeway or two.  They didn't last game and will be due.

How do you know he has an AC joint sprain?

  7. Your sweeping generalizations about being elite after a tough loss are meaningless.  It's a week to week league and teams go from looking dominant to effing up week to week.  This loss was totally predictable.  Jags looked average after 4 weeks, and got to sit in London waiting for a jet-lagged Bills team to show up on Friday licking their chops to show the world they are an elite team.  Bills coming off a huge critical blowout of Miami are flat both physically and mentally. Bills down 5 defensive starters most of the game.  Yet they hung in and still had a chance to win late.  Poor game from an excellent team against a very good motivated team and still close at the end.  Given the 5 game body of work, it suggests the Bills are one of about 7 or 8 teams that are likely to win the SB.... I call that elite.

I consider the Jags to be a good, second-tier team, like the Bills.  I’m not talking about losing the odd head scratcher to a bad team.  Of course even the dominant teams will lose games now and then, but the Bills have played poorly in too many games lately, going back to the first Bengals game last year.  Just not an elite team.  The offense simply did not show up in both of the games against good defenses this year.

You have to wonder if Dorsey is auditioning for a HC job, or is he completely clueless about game/clock management. Raiders game - less than 9 minutes remaining in 4th quarter and Bills with a 21 point lead. The math is clear - it’s virtually impossible for Vegas to score 3 tds in the time left. Bills could run 3 times every possession, go 3 & out each time and their simply would not be enough time left for Vegas to tie this game. The ONLY way to lose is to throw a pic or QB sack fumble. What does Dorsey do? First down Allen passes and is INTERCEPTED. But a lucky penalty negates the turnover. He then continues to throw the ball all over the field.

With an even bigger lead in the 4th quarter against Washington he does the same thing - multiple passes - completely unnecessary and reckless.

On to the Dolphins game . Huge lead again in 4th quarter. First and goal at the 9. Dorsey, (auditioning?) calls for a designated QB run. Why? Yes I know he scored. But what about the entire concept of Allen not taking unnecessary hits?  A QB draw from the 9 in the crowded red zone almost always results in a significant hit. Why put Allen at risk when u have a huge lead late in 4th quarter? Why show that play to future opponents? Just as mindlessly reckless as throwing the ball all over the field late in the 4th quarter with big leads. Unless you have a HC agenda.

Really?  You don't seem to know what you are watching.  On the Allen TD, it was not a designed run, Allen had an option to run if the defense looked a certain way.  It did, and Allen walked in untouched because he knows what he is doing.  But we need to complain I suppose.
