How serious are the injury concerns with Will Johnson?
Apparently significant.

They can appeal how many weeks they are suspended
Yeah sure. But what is the argument? I mean they did it. And saying it was an accident likely does not change anything.

Then they should be able to appeal.
That's not how it works. It's a strict liability system-- you got something in there that the test picks up, you are suspended, no matter how innocuous.
2 minutes ago, Matt_In_NH said:They don’t get salary checks. All bonuses are untouched typically.
Correct. Guaranteed money is guaranteed. But given the reported cap savings of several million dollars as a result of the suspensions, it ain't nothing.

i think it is commendable when athletes say they are being transparent and accountable....while being basically on paid administrative leave to the tune of like 900k per week
They don't get paid for games during suspension.

So are these guys JAGS without PEDs? Not like they were all pros to begin with.
They were taking supplements. This is not a Barry Bonds deal.

It's a weird, kind of embarrassing, and definitely less than ideal situation. I agree with you. Beane seemed embarrassed in his presser.
I also think it'll be forgotten about by Monday. The idea that the whole league is laughing at us or that it's this giant black eye that warrants firing Brandon Beane...it's just prisoner of the moment stuff, in my opinion.
It sucks, its ugly, and no one's happy about it. I just think people are making it even bigger than THAT and acting like its some epic referendum on Brandon Beane and like...okay...sure. If that's how you feel, then that's your prerogative. Just as it's my prerogative to think that's silly.
Could not agree more. If these guys make game changing plays in the playoffs, it will be a stroke of genius. For the first 6 games, no big deal. No way the Bills don't win the Division and make the playoffs. Sure it's awkward right now, but it will pass.

Some of the takes here are ridiculous. Beane and McDermott have taken a laughing-stock franchise that no one wanted to play for and turned it into a perennial contender that attracts players who want to come to Buffalo. No, they have not won it all yet, but you need to be really good first and then get some good fortune and luck to win it all. The Bills are really good-- they need some luck. But instead of attacking Beane/McDermott, people should be grateful for what they have given Buffalo and Bills fans. Peoples' memories are too short.

His game took a fairly impressive leap forward this year.
He's a weak spot as a starter but I'm very happy the Bills kept him around as quality depth.
Agree. And just letting go seems like a horrible PR move if he had no great offers.

The devastated look on Mahomes face as the game was ending was magnificent to behold. I hope this beat down is the beginning of the end of KC's reign of terror.

It just feels like, even if Kincaid had made that catch, or the fourth down had been given to Josh, the refs would have found another way to screw the Bills over. It was one of those nights. The die was cast. As was the winner.
Is that fair? Maybe, maybe not.
Well, they threw a flag on the Kincaid play and picked it up after he dropped it. Were they going to flag the Bills and negate the play, but then did not need to?

No excuses, Allen had the ball with 2 minutes left and 3 timeouts. Brady needed to call better plays and Allen needed better execution. The ball was in their hands, could have drove it down the field with literally 0 time left.
These are not excuses, they are facts. Could the Bills have overcome the officiating, sure. If that's an excuse for losing, OK. But it is a fact that the playing field was tilted.

sad.
i do remember seeing jones and maybe another guy up too tight to the line on the sneak. it's silly that pre snap procedural stuff like that can't be caught on the replay, and that no one spotted it to start.
i think kc is like the old ne teams in that they look deep into the details and observe what doesn't really get called, allowing their RT to line up way beyond legal depth all the time and getting called for it only sometimes, and crowding the heck out of the line vs us on the short yardage stuff.
between this game and the insane calls last game vs houston, i'm thinking there will be some rules committee action.
I really think there is an implicit bias for KC by the refs. It's not overt, but deep down the thinking is KC is good, they are not mere mortals, so they don't make many mistakes. It's a problem and makes the NFL boring.
Another two penalties not called on Kelce for taunting Elam twice.

can you summarize as this is behind a pay wall?
Sure. There were multiple calls and non-calls that were wrong. On the Elam facemask, the receiver had Elam's facemask too. On the 4th down tush push that failed, on the play before (3rd down) Knox or Dawson(can't remember which) made the line to gain but was marked short. On the subsequent play Allen clearly made it from multiple angles that he got about 1/3 of the ball over the line to gain but was called short.
Other examples, on a key short yardage Chris Jones was clearly offside-- 2/3 of his head is over the line-- which allowed him to blow up the play. On the KC punt return, a flagrant block in the back was not called. The Bishop/Worthy call, clearly the ball hit the ground. Hollins was called for an illegal formation when he asked the ref if he was OK, the ref said yes, then called a penalty anyway. There were more.
He also points out that Allen reverted to hero ball at times, and did not take critical gains he could have gotten on checkdowns. Also, a key bad throw to Samuel that was a short pass that would have been a huge gainer. Says Allen makes the pass 999 out of 1000.

Really good stuff. He points out how Josh-- who he is a huge fan of-- did not play his best game, although he did lots of good things. And the officiating was even worse than I thought based on his analysis. Bad calls and lots of bad no-calls on KC that almost certainly changed the outcome.

We get kicked in the nuts and most of us do what we always do…B word about the coach and GM and hope they get fired.
I don't feel that way at all. They have done a great job of taking a laughing-stock franchise and turning it into a fantastic organization. We are the envy of most fans and franchises. If the standard is firing people when the team does not win it all, then 31 teams would turnover each year. KC just changes the whole dynamic because they defy the odds of everything.

Way better than the habitually dark, hopeless tundra that is the Browns.
Could not agree more. I just thought it was nice to have our situation as Bills fans recognized. But wallowing in pity is not an option.

No one understands suffering better than the fans of the Buffalo Bills? Come on. Browns and Lions do.
Different kind of suffering. Their suffering is more like our drought suffering. Bills have unique and exquisitely painful ways(plural) of suffering IMO.

Happiness is the gap between expectation and reality. If you expect nothing, you will never be disappointed, but life is dull. This one hurts the most because this team just seemed better and different. Thus, expectations were high. If we all did not care so much, it would not hurt so much today. But it's the journey, and we are blessed to have such a good team with a great bunch of guys. And maybe, just maybe, we reach the promised land one day. I may not get there with you, I've been doing this for nearly 60 years, but I would not exchange being a Bills fan for anything.
