That's a big offense.
That's excellent!!

and with Kincaid developing a good chemistry with Allen, this team could be deadly come playoffs...assuming the defense holds up its end of the bargain
Agree. It seems that the injuries have brought the young guys way more into the defense, and they have injected speed and enthusiasm to blend with the wise (but slower) vets like White and Poyer. But if Poyer is rubbing off on Bishop, God love him.

So perhaps a MOTO, but Kubiak breaks down how Josh returned to his 2024 form. He played disciplined in-system football, made great reads, and made precise throws. 23-26 makes that pretty clear. The pass to Moore was particularly elite.
Other stuff. Bills provide an interesting look/problem when they use 13 personnel. It is an obvious running look, but the receiving skill set of all three TEs gives them a strong receiving threat too. Good stuff.
Overall, all phases of the team finally played to the elite level they need to compete for a title. Perhaps the Bills just play up or down to the level of competition, but against KC they clearly showed what they can do if all phases play up to their potential.

From the WRs? No. The TEs, yes. This game was exactly what our offense has to look like to be successful - pound Cook, quick passes to Shakir, TEs get most of the downfield targets. Moore splitting the safeties was nice to see but let's not pretend that is suddenly a cornerstone of our offense. The WR problem still exists but we can overcome it if our preferred game script goes exactly right.
Pretty much Kubiak's original point. Still be nice to add a solid outside threat.

No lead in needed for this game; we all know what this is. Please join in and list your thoughts as well.
Also, I know these are meant to be "in no particular order, but the first four points were all things we've been waiting all season for and I couldn't be happier with how they worked out.
1A - Hairston - Pick your play here. Hairston kept up with Worthy EASILY on a deep route, batted down the game winning Hail Mary, and picked off Mahomes for his first career interception for the only turnover of the game. Yes, it's only been a game and a half, but Hairston looks to be as advertised in coverage, speed, and hands. You have to love it and he picked the perfect game for his coming out party. Can't wait to see more of what this kid has to offer.
1B - Bishop - I mean, holy ***** did Bishop ball out. I didn't take notes for this game, so my memory might be failing me, but Bishop was EVERYWHERE this game. Not only that, but he absolutely laid out Mrs Swift in the end zone. Bishop had quite a few pass break up where he punished the receiver, and I honestly thought he had a chance at a pick six on a beautifully tracked swing pass to the near side. I don't know what clicked recently, but if Bishop and Hairston are going to continue to play at this level, or secondary is in MUCH better shape.
1C - Cook Catch - I was so tempted to put this first, but we threw to Cook in a crucial situation and got the first down. I repeat, Brady called a pass to Cook out of the backfield. It's amazing how such a simple play can get me so hyped. Cook overall had another great game, eclipsing 100 yards against a team that doesn't allow those types of games. It's almost as if the Bills realized that they have multiple stars on offense that aren't named Allen (see Kincaid).
1D - McD - While I'm not going to excuse the time outs on defense, I do understand why he called them. The players clearly looked confused out there and McD needed to save them. Now, why were they confused is a bigger issue. Also, I don't know how much of the plays are being called by Babich or McD, but the defensive turnaround these past few weeks makes me believe McD is way more involved. Holding Mahomes to under 50% passing and actually sending pressure on the final play was HUGE for the defense, and another thing we've been begging for out of this defense. Making Mahomes throw up that last pass off his back foot, not allowing it to have enough power to get to the end zone was exactly how you need to play him. Not only that, but Mahomes was smacked around the field today in the best way possible. Also, did you see the Chiefs 3rd down conversion percentage?! It's about time.
5 - Josh - I referred to the Chiefs as Allen's 7 iron, in that he always seems to pull out his best games against them. Josh even said in his post game presser that he just felt different early on. Josh only had three incomplete passes all game and was incredibly accurate on his balls downfield. I still feel like Josh is playing a little frustrated or held back, but it's tough to argue with the results. I like that we didn't force balls to Coleman and utilized the guys who got open. We were a missed field goal from breaking 30, and that's even with us having two terrible drives after our opening one.
6 - Defensive Line - While it sucks to lose Hoecht, and being without Oliver for the rest of the regular season, it was great to see the everyone else step up. AJ played a great game, and smacked the sense out of Mahomes. Bosa was a monster all game, minus the mind-numbing decision to stop his pressure on the 4th and 17 play. Groot also was great in pursuit as well as against the run. I would actually argue that Groot sneakily played one of the best games of the season.
7 - Kincaid - If ever there were a game for the those banging the drum of Kincaid being our #1 receiver or Josh hanging in the pocket a second longer, look no further than the long catch and run on the crossed by Kincaid. With pressure coming and a congested middle of the field, Josh stepped forward and found Kincaid as he got behind the defender. Sometimes I forget how fast Kincaid was. His first touchdown got me on my feet and teams are going to need to start paying more attention to him.
8 - Hancock - For anyone with the All-22, I'm very curious to get feedback on Hancock from this game. On the long catch before half, and the deep sideline catch on the pick play, was Hancock the responsible deep safety and slow to recognize the play? I could be wrong, but he seemed to come to the play late. Again, happy to be wrong, but he seemed to be responsible for 2 of the 3 biggest Chief passing plays.
9 - Offensive Line - Even with the Chiefs sending stunt blitzes, extra rushers, and being dominant against the run, Josh overall had time, Cook got his 100 yards, and I didn't hear Chris Jones' name once. Spencer Brown absolutely mauled some guys and I think we only had one holding penalty? Just a great performance overall by the unit. Shout out to Gilliam too.
10 - Stats and Outcome - There's two things I didn't like from this game. Statistically, we dominated. Mahomes was under 50% completion and didn't score a touchdown. The Chiefs were terrible on 3rd down. Kelce and Jones were non-factors. And yet, we still needed to survive a Hail Mary at the end. How is that even possible? Yes, Prater could have made it a two score game and that 4th and 17th was ridiculous. Even still, it's scary when we can play at that level and still barely win.
Overall, I'm not putting stock into this win any more than we are 1-0 this week and have the tie-breaker over the Chiefs. I'm glad to see the team back on the positive uptick both offensively and defensively, but I also recognize this game means nothing towards the outcome of our playoff success. I'm back to believing we can play with anyone, and don't even try to tell me the Chiefs were holding back because it's only the regular season. They want to win their division and this hurt them.
Go Bills!
So maybe Beane is not a moron like many on this board contend when it comes to drafting and signing FAs. Kincaid, Hairston Bishop Cook Walker Bosa Hoecht to name a few. Sure, he has some misses, all GMs do. But I don't think he is a total idiot.

Based on at the very least getting past KC in the playoffs and getting to play for the Lombardi once is achieving more than being Andy Reid's personal Washington Generals come playoff time.
Whatever.

Did not say they did.
And the Bills have done more in the playoffs than Lewis. True. There are the same number of Lombardi's in our case as the Bengals to show for it. Also true.
Yep. Just not sure why you cite Bengals as somehow have achieved more as an organization. But ces't le vie. 🙂

Apples and oranges.
If we are talking baseball, many guys have had long and lucrative careers hitting an occasional HR and striking out a lot. Ask Steve "Bye-Bye" Balboni.
If we are talking football, the occasional missed playoffs help teams aquire higher rates players through the draft. Ask Jamar Chase.
Is it better to make the playoffs 10 years in a row and get bounced or miss the playoffs 8 out of 10 years, but win a Super Bowl the two years you do go? Ask Marvin Lewis and the NY Giants.
Bengals did not win a SB in 2021. And Bills have done more in playoffs--way more than Lewis. Can't win SB if you can't get in the tournament.

2 playoff appearances with 1 AFC Championship= 50%
7 playoff appearances with 0 AFC Championships = 0%
Unless just getting to the playoffs is the goal (which it really shouldn't be for an organization).
Is it better to strike out most of the time and hit an occasional HR(triple actually) or always put the ball in play. Ask the jays and the dodgers right now.

There are just so many things wrong with this line of thinking
- we have strong armed and MVP at the wheel and not a middling QB who needs a run game to make the O hum
- a run focused offense scores slowly and has smaller margin of error
- in a scramble drill, lack of strong pass game is a liability
- Bills D plays better when ahead and it is much harder to score twice early with a run focused game
- a opposing D with strong front 7 immediately puts your O at a disadvantage. Also allows opposing Ds to cheat and stack the box
Anyone who is thinking the Bills are better off as a run first and run dominated offense are wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
You need to take someone to task, then everyone will get it.😎

The ebb and flow of nfl roster construction is pretty interesting…I think we’re at a point where most defenses just don’t have the personnel to stop a team that can run it well out of heavier sets because everyone went all in on rushing the passer / taking the passing game away.
I really think the bills are kinda doing what puts the most pressure possible on the opposing defenses and fans just aren’t entertained by it. Of course we should definitely add a wr…not disagreeing with that, but all this general hate for a good running game is pretty wild to me. If the chiefs had this in their bag of tricks I don’t think they’d ever loseGood points. And I agree a speedy boundary receiver would be great and give defenses one more thing to think about.

Really interesting take. He points out that the Bills have developed a much greater capacity to run the ball, which takes pressure off Allen. Bills need to stick to formula to pound the football and not turn it over.
On Allen and the receivers, several interesting points. He points out that Allen's completion percentage is up from 2024 from 63.5% to 68%, and YPG up from 219 to 222. Biggest difference is he is taking more sacks and committing more turnovers. As to receivers, defenses are playing soft man-to man coverage and giving receivers large cushions that no receiver can just blow by and go deep, but there is lots of underneath stuff there. He points to a third-and -1 where Allen throws to Coleman immediately for a first down as defender is over 5 yards off the Line giving Coleman big cushion.
He also points out Allen's footwork and accuracy sucked in the first half, and Trubisky is looking like a more competent backup.
Prognosis is that Bills/Allen still not playing great but certainly can if they stick to formula. Allen just needs to play a bit smarter, but the game against Carolina in second half was a good step forward from previous weeks.

It is interesting how much of KC's offense comes off schedule. Mahomes drops back, called play does not work, he runs around a while, then throws to a guy who is open by 10 yards or just runs. For all the sophistication that is Reid, much of the time it is sandlot ball.
-
This game comes at the perfect time. All the concern about how the Bills suck will be put to the test. If they can't hang with KC at home, then all the doomsayers will have their day. Play well-- perhaps win-- then all the talk about Allen's marriage might thankfully end-- at least for a few days. This should be a fun one.🫰

For all the hype, KC does not look omnipotent. Go Jays!!

Up-
The entire defense. 7 sacks, 3 turnovers. That will give them some confidence. Being able to play aggressively and attack pays off.
Joe Brady. I've been critical of him being too cute. I'll give him equal props for playing it smarter this week. None of those cutesy end arounds. Just pounding the rock
McDermott. If in fact he took over play calling (I don't buy the "Bobby and I are doing it together" line) then credit needs to go to him for identifying the problem and correcting it
Down
Buffalo's outside receivers. I can't remember a time we have lacked this much talent on the boundary. What we have now makes me miss the days of Donald Jones and David Nelson. Get a quality guy in here via trade. Heck, sign Mecole Hardman. Do SOMETHING. LITERALLY ANYTHING!! We cannot trot Shavers, Coleman And Samuel out there any longer.
Ray Davis. I don't think he even deserves a roster spot at this point anymore. I'd love to see Gore elevated to see if he can bring some fresh juice, but it's hard to elevate him when we need to elevate a Safety and DT every week due to injury. My fear is if we don't find an answer at RB 2, by the playoffs Cook will be....well ...Cooked.
Josh Allen. It's been a rough 3 weeks for him. We can have our fan theories all we want about what's wrong with him. A hidden injury, married life, all the new endorsement deals, whatever, lack or receivers....whatever. It needs to be fixed. Our MVP is struggling. Hopefully, a date with the Chiefs wakes him up.
Or it could just be a slump. All athletes have them. Hell all people have them.
-
Josh needs to get his head out of his ass. I love the guy, but really.

Need a good drive ending in a TD. Defense is doing its part.
