  1. Does it matter if the President understands technology? I don't really think so. His policy makers and advisors on technology better damn well understand it, I agree there, but I'm not sure its a requirement to be POTUS.
  2. What is the incentive for someone to learn about the health care plans? Health Care, while seen as a problem, is actually fairly low on the totem poll according to the polls I've seen. I imagine this is due to the large number of people in the US with health care. In addition, I suspect that many of the people without health care don't have the easy access to information that we do.
  3. I wouldn't call it the reason. While I do agree it was a factor, I don't think it played near the importance you do. Obama largely focused on nothing but Iowa for months leading up to January - the same strategy that Kerry successfully used - and he received lots of press coverage for it. His organizational skills in caucus voters was amazing, and that plus dedicated campaigning there won Iowa for him, which allowed him to pick up momentum (that he kept going). Obama's biggest two strengths IMO were his local campaign offices (he really focused on these, and it ended up winning a lot of smaller states for him), and his ability to work the media and get free press coverage.
  4. I believe it works the opposite way. People don't have a solid knowledge base on health care issues, and there aren't immediate and obvious benefits to them learning about health care issues as a matter of voting, which leads to ignoring the issue.
  5. I'm not so sure this is entirely correct; rather, I think it is a lack of emphasis by the candidates on choosing solid, competent technology advisors and the like.
  6. Is it an attention span problem, or a knowledge problem?
  7. He has the Pats* 5 (you forgot the asterick by the way), and the Jets not in his top 15.
  8. Nick, if all else fails, you could probably get someone on ebay to ship to England.
  9. It seemed pretty clear to me watching the video that she was simply giving canned campaign answers. One of the problems with claiming she is "uninformed" or "non-curious" is you are assuming she doesn't have the knowledge or care to have the knowledge with foreign policy based strictly on canned interview answers. I think it is completely illogical from that clip alone (I haven't seen the entire interview) to come to a conclusion one way or the other on what she actually knows. It seemed to me just one person trying to repeat campaign messages and avoid talking about anything that wasn't previously planned.
  10. Doh, that's what I get for posting at 12:00 AM. Thought he said AFC.
  11. 2 million people were asked to stay, many of them will be without power for up to a month, and have significant damage to their homes. Houston is pretty much without any gasoline either at the moment. There are signs in Austin telling people to not drive to Houston and Beaumont because of the lack of gasoline.
  12. I think this post is one of the ones Beerball was talking about, referring to the chat room.
  13. Absolutely agreed. I cringe every time I find out Tasker is doing a Bills game, which seems to be all too often. Butler wasn't much better. We still need upgrades at both C and RG. I don't care which one they do this off season, but one of them needs to get better. There were a couple Bills fans at the bar that thought it should have been overturned. Nuts I say, clearly the right call. Yeah... I have to wonder about using Peters the way they did though. Should he have come back in after the 1st quarter? Hindsight is 20/20 obviously, but it seemed to cause more problems then it was worth shifting everyone around after qtr 1. Finally beginning to look like a 3rd round pick. I can't believe he was the MVP of the D today. I think that honor belongs to Big Ben at the moment. EDIT: Doh, thought you said AFC, not AFC East. A friggin' men.
  14. Reported for violating ToS.
  15. Can't be as stupid as Keyshawn Johnson just saying "Matt Cassel comes in the game, and not much changes."
  16. If I got paid $100 for everytime I scored a goal, I would have made like $200. I GOT BEAT BY A GIRL.
  17. ^^ - This. In fact, because of this thread, I went and got the soft chicken taco combo on both wed and fri lol. Such good, fast, mexican food. Plus, the TC here on Riverside in Austin is the closest food place to my apartment.
  18. I'm sick as well after flying to Buffalo for the opener. BASTARDS.
  19. Wow, you think both Lynch and Jackson are going to get 100 yards? Pretty bold prediction against Jax!
  20. perhaps you are correct and my detector ran out of batteries
  21. Perhaps they're worried about other structural damage, such as other parts of the roof falling down during the game? Maybe they wanted the players to take care of their homes and families instead of playing a football game?
  22. lol, mr. yellow, have you not given up on arguing with him yet?
