  1. I spent a few years enjoying (lol) Steel Reserve. High Gravity Beer, baby! My roommate still wont' drink beer, due to one of those nights years ago with Steel Reserve.
  2. Just in case that didn't do it for you... I've got one more:
  3. Ba Ba Ba Bird Bird Bird... the Bird is the word.... Ba Ba Ba Bird Bird Bird... the Bird is the word....
  4. And pornotube, and Xtube, and Redtube, and....
  5. lol, CNN was embarassing, wasn't it? Thank god for PBS.
  6. Heh. Annointing a race as over annoys me. We've seen how fast this economic crisis happened; it could very easily slip back in favor of McCain if a homeland security issue hit. TERRORISTS RAWRAWR!!~!!~~!~!
  7. Fixed. Appreciate the info.
  8. Interesting take. One reason why I'm for universal health care (despite my semi-libertarian leanings) is because I think its important for everyone to have access to a doctor. To me, everyone being able to see a doctor seems like a good first step toward the preventative care that the whole country needs. Do you think these other programs do more for that sort of care than UHC would?
  9. Interesting. One of the benefits of Rackspace seems to be how much they spend on educating and moving their people up through the ranks. Is it only such a rosy picture because of their recent growth, and it'll stop soon?
  10. You just had to ruin a great post with this, didn't you?
  11. Interesting distinction, isn't it? I had an American Political Thought professor who spent a whole hour and a half talking about that distinction and why it was important. One of the points he made that I agree with was its important to never become truly happy - which delves into complacency. Such happiness ignores a great quote from Mencken, "Every decent man is ashamed of the government he lives under."
  12. Interesting, I thoguht one of the reputations of the private sector versus the public sector (outside of the stereotypical middle management job) was the ability for advancement. At UT, there wasn't any, one of the reasons why I'm better off with the new job. I had a feeling you were going to say that.
  13. Thanks for the info. That's exactly how I took it - seemed like a way for McCain to incorporate what Biden said without making it seem quite as loony. I bet that got some play in focus groups, so McCain wanted to implement it.
  14. In a way, that's true, but it has to be the right kind of health care. More & Cheaper health care isn't any good if it doesn't focus on preventative medicine and education, which need to become ingrained into society's habits.
  15. Jesus..... 40%?! No wonder you're a Republican. Speaking of which, why is turnover so high? Do not enough companies provide ample room for advancement, or is it more of a case of people being idiots? I guess I'm about to find out, starting in the private sector in a week and a half....
  16. You forgot step 4: Rules make Ron Paul the first President after being in effect.
  17. I suppose that's effected by the time you have left. It might be more beneficial to take out the loan earlier in your life, so you have a long time to build wealth on it, versus taking it out closer to retirement.
  18. Outside of some behavior quirks and what not, pretty much the same thing the campaigns have said. The one new thing McCain proposed (right at the beginning of the debate) was a plan to have the government buy up mortgages that were way inflated vs the current cost of the house, and refinance them at the current cost of the house, in order to stabilize home prices. Any comment on that? You know the economic side of things way better than I do, I'd be curious as to your take on it. Some jabs back and forth, McCain seemed really weird at times and at other times did really well; Obama seemed his usual cool self. Nothing earth shattering. Oh, Obama Godwined the debates, mentioning the holocaust and preventing another one.
  19. Ahh... I knew you had said the double taxation thing in the last post, but the key was that rate would be higher than the interest rate you'd get for the loan (that was the part that wasn't clear for me). Interesting, I'll have to look into it. Thanks.
  20. I thought McCain won the first 20 mins or so, Obama had some good rebuttals, and on many questions they were both ridiculous. Also, did anyone notice the ugly woman in the back row with the blue shirt? She looked really, really hot for Obama. I think she wanted the rooster.

  22. I'm a bit curious here, and if you don't mind expanding, let me ask a question: The only person I've ever really heard any info about 401ks and loaning money from it was my father, who seemed to indicate it was a pretty good deal. His thinking was that you pay yourself back the interest, rather than pay it to a bank. Is there a reason why that line of thinking is faulty?
  23. I think I'm going to add the words "7 years" and "Change" to the list, too. Hope i don't end up dead.
  24. Ah, she got you a Wii, but has she played with your Wii? (These jokes just don't get old)
  25. Also, drop dow drop! I'm starting a new job that has a 401k, so I'll get to start pumping money into it soon. Hopefully I'll hit it right at the lowest point.
