Can we please get COLT MCCOY
Phlegm Alley replied to jax bill backer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hate it when people talk about weak/poor competition. Has Joe Flacco suffered from facing inferior Division II competition? How about Tony Romo? What about Kurt Warner? Then again, how has Matt Leinart fared? Vince Young? Competition is an anomaly. Accuracy, football smarts, and a canon arm aren't. -

True about the soft defenses he's faced this year. But it does seem as though he's finally put together some consistency this year, and he's shown that he's willing to put in the time necessary to become a better QB. You mention Weis, which is another reason to like him: he runs a pro-style offense (unlike Tebow, McCoy and Bradford) which means he takes more snaps from under center, reads defenses at the LOS, goes through the necessary progressions. This will allow him to transition to the pro game faster and to focus on learning the playbook, reading NFL defenses rather than trying to learn basic QB fundamentals like QBs playing in the spread will. He has also played through some pain the last couple of games and still put up some great numbers. He's also played on some pretty young (relatively speaking) teams at ND and he recently lost his #1 WR in Floyd, and dude still has been impressive. He has also "willed" his team to victory, posting an OT win last week against WAS, leading his team from behind against MICH only to have his defense blow it in a pretty hostile environment. The ND v USC game will be a good barometer of where Clausen stands as an NFL prospect. Still needs to work on his foot work, reading defenses, and pocket presence. But he's been really accurate, has great size, and has a phenomenal arm. He could be the number 1 overall pick in the draft next year if he keeps it up. I'd take him over any of the other QBs in this class. -

The more I watch, the more I'm liking Jimmy Clausen. I think if he decides to come out after this year (he's a junior), I could seriously see him being the #1 QB in the draft. -

To tell you the truth, I don't like any of the QB prospects coming out of the draft this year. -
He (Crabtree) could make a difference if the head coach (Singeltary) can put him in a position to succeed. The difference between DJ and Singeltary is night and day and if TO, or even Evans was on that Niner team, I'm sure Singeltary would make the most them.

How appealing is this team to a new coach?
Phlegm Alley replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it has anything to do with talent on a roster. I think it has more to do with management and if the FO is going to buy into the vision of the would-be head coach. That's probably why DJ/Mularkey/Greggo got the job to begin with. They're all "yes" men who are cronies to the old codger at the top of the organization. God forbid any one individual wants to put his own thumbprint on this franchise other than Ralph. -
Don't get me wrong....I think what Crabtree and his agent are doing to the Niners is complete BS, but the presence of a possible game changing WR could add another dimension to an already surprising Niners ball club. It could mean the difference in winning the division or advancing in the playoffs or not.

The only way this works, is if the ownership group possesses some business acumen with regard to running a football team. I guess that's where Kelly and his football smarts come into play. Daniel Snyder has owned the Redskins formore than a decade and throws money at free agents like there's no tomorrow, but his teams are consistently mediocre. I wonder if we're ever going to see Jim Kelly in more of a hands on football capacity, rather than just a sideline presence for cameras to show during games so that people at the bar can yell "JIMBO!!!!" every time they show his face on TV.

It would've, however, been DJ's decision to stack the box with 8-9 defenders, forcing Henne to beat you with his arm. -
If Ralph fears for his own job...

Spin it anyway you like....but to me, its pretty obvious that "the train left the station" a long time ago. The old coot finally lost it. They (public relations) had to shut him down before he fired away any more quotable quips that would have made media relations' jobs more difficult today. -

McKelvin. The weak link?
Phlegm Alley replied to mountainwampus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was quite obvious that the Saints were going after McKelvin on the first drive. The pump and go where McKelvin bit hard and lead to a 31 yard gain to Colsten is what comes to mind. Combine the effects of what happened to him against NE, along with his injury and subsequent time missed, I think he is going to be a non-factor this year and not taking the "next step" that many of us fans had hoped for before the season started. -
I just got over an incident where I was robbed in Indianapolis. My g/f's car got broken into and they stole my computer, a BOSE sound dock, 3 iPods and a few other items. The good news: Home owners insurance covered the cost of the stolen property. Hopefully you have some decent coverage so that you could get the property that was stolen replaced. Unfortunately, it won't go far in repairing your trust or subsiding your anger. Good luck and if you have any questions about the insurance process (ie filing a claim), PM me.

For your specific situation, 6 PCs would definitely benefit from having a server. For the situation that I am in (live with 3 girls whom all have their own laptop, including myself) I use a Time Capsule. Built in hard drive with the same 1TB capacity that the WHS uses, and can back up data on multiple computers wirelessly. So yeah, different situations are going to have different solutions. I never said that the solution that I'm currently using was the end-all-be-all. I was merely offering a suggestion, and for the sake of comparison, how possible solutions differed with the Mac and the PC. As I eluded to in a previous post, and I'll quote myself: You can derive a lot of information on my stance to the whole issue right there. I don't know where you get that I am trying to say that my Mac is a superior machine. I've read a lot of your posts Fezmid, and I get it, you kow a lot about computers, technology and the like, but when you say such things as "Seesh [sic], some people's children", it's a major disappointment. -
You may be right, because according to Chris Brown: Also, both McKelvin and McGee were both practicing fully according to Mark Gaughan's live chat going on now.

When I said that it's actually just a piece of software, I was referring to the time machine software that comes with every new Mac. It's common sense that if you're going to be backing up your computer, unless you're using something like Mozy, you're still going to need a piece of hardware. I'm not trying to turn this into a why Mac is better than PC or vice versa argument, otherwise I'd feel like your avatar Jack. There are a number of ways every owner of a computer can back up all their files. It all comes down to cost, convenience, and most of all preference. -

You'd need a piece of hardware for the Window's solution as well. Which peice of hardware would you rather "lug" around? Windows Home Server External Hard Drive But the Time Machine software already comes built in on every Mac. And the cost for the Home Server solution is outrageous. -

Or you could get a Mac, which comes installed with a piece of software called "Time Machine", which works similar to the Windows Home Server that Fezmid described, but it's not an unwieldy piece of hardware. Its actually just a piece of software that is included with the new Snow Leopard operating system that Apple recently unveiled. The only thing you need with the Time Machine is an external hard drive, and it backs everthing up for you automatically, essentially taking you "back in time" if something like what you described occurs. Just another reason to buy a Mac IMHO. -
IMHO, this is pretty sharp.

Levy Found Great Character in Whitner...
Phlegm Alley replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right about Huff being a pretty big disappointment in Oakland, but he currently leads the league with 3 INTs, so maybe this is his breakout year as well. Let's hope Donte continues being a leader on D and can make a few more plays this season and beyond to justify his 8th overall pick status.
