Off the top of my head, when illegal activity is involved. Fraud. Insider Trading. Money laundering. That sort of thing. I see the political aspects of these investigations, yes. I’m not surprised you do not, Tibsy, I’ve seen you rationalize your support of election deniers and misinformation many times here.

Who can ever really believe anything in DC? You always seem to get turned around here. The political angle is where we are now…like, Trump doesn’t pay taxes…Romney is a closet misogynist…Brett Kavanaugh is a serial sexual abuser…Trump hired hookers from Russia…and so on. Everyone in the game plays the game, and if tying a “loan repayment” to Biden, and tying his family to financial shenanigans with China, Russia and Ukraine results in his dismissal from office, so be it. All I can tell you is that when I lay the cards out as a voter, I see a guy who declared quite forcefully he wasn’t involved in anything involving his sons business or legal issues, and that simply is not true—or as you say, is false and misleading. So, now, the Rs job to connect dots and draw conclusions as they see fit. If he simply loaned his brother money and there’s nothing to see, should be easy enough to explain because surely Biden and his lawyers would have that all documented.

Israel and Iran

A NY Times investigation would be no more or less believable than an investigation completed by Israel, or for that matter the US. The phrase “austere scholar” comes to mind. If the argument is that the State spins things, sure, obviously. Really, what player in the game is beyond reproach? Meanwhile, the two sides play who can wipe whom off the face of the earth first? -
I addressed the possibility that it could be a call from a Trump supporter, keep up Fergie. I think I made the point I wanted to make, pointing out that Johnny rushed to defend Palestinians from stereotypes and painting with a broad brush while doing exactly that sort of thing a few hours later. I believe the point is clear, and that is for every knock at the worst tendencies of extreme MAGA voters, people like John (and you) are mirror images.

I think everyone who is paying attention should be concerned about COVID, pandemic management, who was allowed to gather and spread the virus and who wasn’t, the fallout from the compulsory vaccination and the politicization of the virus. Very little reflects anything approximating the finest hours of our nation. That said, the lingering aftermath of COVID is real (another reason everything top to bottom should be reviewed) and the impact on industry very apparent. This story represents friends and neighbors losing their jobs, something WNY knows far too much about. Sad news.

Interestingly, in another thread, you went out of your way to point out that not all Palestinians were Hamas. Last night, Biden reminded Americans to be mindful of Islamophobia. Yet here we are, a few short minutes later, making broad characterization about millions of Americans on basis of an anonymous calls that could be from Trump supporters, Biden supporters, high school kids or maybe even Russians. The fact is this could be anyone from The most fervent Trumper to Jussie Smollette to Boris Badenov.

The American Media Should Not Be Trusted

I think you’re right here, on hot button issues, you have to consider the agenda of those telling the story. This is one of the reasons we should acknowledge relying on the notion of a free and independent press brings with it certain…obstacles. I never liked the “…enemy of the people” word track, but certainly believe at times the press is the enemy of truth. Welcome back, Mr. Kottierrrrre… Glad you’re ok. -
I’ll tackle this. I’ll go out on a limb and predict that you do not go around in life using the King’s English, precise with words and meanings, taking care to ensure that each and every word limits interpretation to whatever dictionary you choose to site. I’m going to take it one step further and tell you I have used the phrase “Hey, do me a favor….” and what follows does not actually reflect a favor in any way, shape or form. It’s actually pretty common at work, and I have used that expression when directing an employee to complete employment related tasks. I’d bet Joe Biden has used it, and doesn’t always actually mean “come on, man” to signify his demand that a person (male or female) physically reduce the distance between he and thee. I believe the word used to describe a word or phrase used informal is “colloquialism”. As for asking for dirt on a political adversary, do me a favor and come on, man! That’s an everyday thing and you know it.

Israel and Iran

Perhaps he should consider offering his services and expertise to Israel, or the Palestinians. Common sense suggests there should a path to peaceful coexistence, but we’re talking about hostilities dating back to the beginning of time. And for whatever it matters, one of the common complaints from conservatives, liberals and independents alike is that there isn’t any significant pushback and oversight mechanism in government generally. -

I think all voices should be heard, but he’s not offering anything with respect to solutions. -
I agreed with that perspective on 1/6, and every day since. I do think all pretense of restorative justice with an eye toward rehabilitation has gone out the window and been replaced with good old fashioned skull thumping punitive justice, but that’s a different subject. That’s not what I was referring to, I was referring to the assault on law enforcement officers by protestors, which is most assuredly different than passing through security, to the best of their knowledge of course.

The quote from Rust Prpductions is that all this is “Burdensome”? What a tone deaf statement. The movie set sounds as if it was a complete clusterf&ck, live ammunition and all, with not rhyme of reason as to who pointed what at whom. “Burdensome” seems appropriate when the catering company takes a wrong turn and lunch is late. Or when the union calls for a 2 hour shut down for procedural matters. When a lady gets shot dead during a staged production of fictional events, it seems way past that.

Sir, I get it completely. You are completely and demonstrably in favor of election misinformation, election interference, allegations of treason and persecution as long as the outcome suits your world view. In that regard, you're MAGA by another name, but if it helps you to get through the day completely ignoring the reality of Trump's time in office, do what you must. What came in 2020 followed the pattern set by Jeffries and the democrats in 2016-2019. It's nothing new, really.
