  1. Simply not true. The opposition party generally wants people disappointed with the economy. "What's in it for me" is the benchmark for a regime change. The fact is that a struggling economy rarely touches people like Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell et al in any significant way, so it becomes the flag to carry. The anti-trumpers argument goes "it'll never work...", "it will temporarily work", "its only working for the rich" and of course "where it works it's a clear sign of racism". Its boring, old, and repetitive. The Trump tax cuts benefited me and the people who were employed as a result. In the alternative, had that money gone to the govt, it's gone forever, and well, by the time the skim takes place, any benefit I might realize is purely a coincidence.
  2. I would prefer Jay-Z as a 3rd qb. At least the Queen would be in the house on game dayz.
  3. I raised this point in the gun thread the other day. If the police are "strongly encouraging" people to abandon their property to a roving gang of masked thugs, to surrender the fruits of their labor to the whims of some hired agitators who only see strength in numbers....why the heck wouldn't I need to have a weapon at the re easy with the capacity to efficiently dispatch large numbers of my enemies? It just seems the message from the PR department should be "gather and Protest peacefully, but if you start to riot we will put you down.". But surrendering, yeah, that's worked well throughout the course of history too.
  4. There was probably a time when the two finger peace sign didn't seem to be such a lame expression when flashed by a rich kid turned rich old man who is hailed as a hero for making a movie 60 years ago. It certainly is cast in a different light when the same guy muses about locking a 10 year old in a cage with deviants simply because he doesnt like the child's fathers politics.
  5. Back when I read "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure and mischief that Huck and his dog Yeller got into. Between floating down the river, Huck and Tom trying to unravel the mystery of Boo Radley and the like, the book caught my attention and held it. It's true that when Yeller got the rabies and Huck's dad had to put him down, it was really sad. At the same time, for me, it did not diminish the fun and interesting parts that went before. I think we can enjoy some of the positive and encouraging things we've seen this offseason. The mgmt did not stand pat after last season, they worked strategically to improve the team at Oline and receiver. Some decisions will look good, some will likely not pan out. I think you did a good job with your original post, you acknowledged the pre-seasonness of it all, and that neither team brought their full game plan and troops to the battle. Maybe things don't work out, but spotting the positives is not a bad thing at all. That's just the nature of preseason.
  6. excellent fix. and...priceless!
  7. This would make a good word problem for 13 year olds everywhere: Karl is 20 when he meets Gloria, who is in the 7th grade. If Karl impregnates 13 year old Gloria, how %$#@!ed will Karl be if he doesn't have "lots of brothers"? A. Bad! B. Not at all! C. Puberty! D. Cash is king!
  8. there was probably a time in your life when "fun" included bars, booze and babes, yes? this is not that time. ?
  9. LA, I'm no dermatologist but I'm thinking McD is worried that since his jibe requires constant exposure to the sun, he will get a visit from Buck Melanoma if he's not careful. For a light skinned Irishman you gotta get full coverage!
  10. She's quoted as saying: "It just made me real, real sad, because I really kind of devoted my life to making it right.” Again, I'll say it: some of these celebrities are the softest, most fragile human beings in the world. She wore blackface in a supposedly edgy skit that maybe 11 people saw. She has devoted her life to making it right, presumably by NOT donning blackface makeup again, and what--starting an anti-blackface foundation? Is she going to schools to preach the evils of blackface? Does she attend and protest blackface conventions? Has she reached out to crayola to include warnings on crayon boxes? She shouldn't have gotten the part because she's a moron. And, by her standards, she should be happy that she didn't get the part---her messaging and dedication to the cause since 2008 has clearly made a difference.
  11. Most of those freedom-loving people would be considered deplorable by HRC4PREZ 2016.
  12. That's absurd. Hillary has the cough of a 5 pack a day smoker. The wet work was done by WJC, just as he handled it with Monica oh so many dresses ago.
  13. Freedom. Freedom? Elaborate.
  14. Hey--Paulus--you won the 2BDPPP Epstein Arrested Epstein Deleted Epstein Reinstated Suicide pool! What are you gonna do now?? (Oh it existed jack)
  15. Everyone knows that lawyers are the psychiatrists of the legal world. Makes perfect sense.
  16. Matthew 3:12 Let he among us who has not dropped a very catchable ball cast the first stone.
  17. So, if I'm reading you correctly, in the calm light of day, you don't advocate the ban/involuntary surrender of firearms like the AR15 on a national level? As for the mother of the suspect and law enforcement reply, well, that pushes me more in the direction of 'maybe I oughta get one because at the end of the day, there is no rhyme or reason to who is in the wrong place at the wrong time'. Thanks for the follow up.
  18. Hey Alf- Don't want to hound you, but about an hour before you replied here I replied to one of your earlier posts. I really am interested in your reply, mostly because I think my perspective is very reasonable. I mean, truly the way many non-gun-loving-ok--with-reasonable-legislation-but-interested-in-protecting-the-family Americans look at this issue. 100 times out of 100, a guy with Task's perspective doesn't concern me. I know many guys like him, and if the $h$t hits the fan at the local mall I'm hoping he's the next game over at Dave and Busters. See, at the end of the day, I think a guy like me is as big an impediment to what folks like you are suggesting, and I really have never gotten a reply that makes me want to move into your voting column on gun control. I try, I just usually get some vague shoulder shrug or the conversation ends. And, to repeat, I've never owned a gun nor had a major desire to own one. If you get a moment, let me know your thoughts. If you prefer not to, well, that's fine as well. I am perplexed, btw, that at this stage of my life, I had to start a post with the words "Hey Alf", and I will never forgive you for that.
  19. Well played. Honorable. "You just went up a notch in my book. You're at notch one." -Huggy Bear
  20. Don't want to hijack the discussion you are having with the other folks, but this question constantly pulls me in different directions. Why would I not want to buy an AR15, own it lawfully, learn to use it, and keep it for my own safety? I see news stories constantly about extremists attacking ordinary citizens and the formula seems to be a whole 'lotta extremists--often in masks--attacking one overmatched citizen. Add to that the challenge of leadership in cities like Baltimore and Portland advising the cops to stand by while the thumping occurs, as if the set-upon party is expendable. Then, there is the recent video of law enforcement personnel being doused with water or worse in NYC, and getting back to some our cities, the stand-down orders where violent pos are allowed to destroy personal property unmolested. Now, we have leading political operatives revealing the names/addresses/employers of American citizens for the sole purpose of intimidation, exposing them to the same type of violent extremists who discussed themselves stabbing an American senator in the heart in his home, and filmed it like disciples of Charles Manson. And that's where we are at....today. The threat to me personally is still relatively low, but certainly higher than it was 10 years ago. At the same time... The way I see it, the people have nothing to fear from me. I'm mentally stable (mostly), I work for a living, I judge people on the content of their character, and present a threat to no one. At the same time, the impression I'm getting is that I'm viewed as an enemy to many people for the things I think and believe. I own property on a commercial strip not far from a good-sized city, worked hard to get it and harder still to keep it--and while I would hate to see it set ablaze by masked thugs, it's just property. However, if it's set ablaze by masked thugs when it's occupied by my employees and myself, well, that is a whole 'nother story. I'd think in the scenarios outlined, 8 rounds is insufficient. What say you?
  21. Going to suck on a massive scale when some rabblerouser shows during reruns of Mr. Belvedere and threatens to stab him in the heart.
  22. You've gone full Boisie Boy since emigrating to Idaho. And since someone brought up the Boisie Boy TV show, looks like a beautiful part of the country. Congrats.
  23. Good thought but unworkable: German guns are cold and distant, and to be frank they really just want to rule the world. Italian guns are prone to emotional outbursts. Irish guns are generally knee deep in the sauce by 10am. Swiss guns, well they want to get a feel which way the winds are blowing before they commit to anything. Russian guns? yeah, good luck.
