  1. I always appreciate it when someone takes the time to give me credit for some deep or complex thought, and tacit acknowlegement of doing what you and Tibsy are about to do. Thank you, but I need to let you know there is no intrigue in play here—as always I told you what I thought. I rejected the notion that DJT, media darling for 50 years or more, real estate mogul, NBC TV star, and well-known brand huckster flew under the radar all those years as a serial harasser and serial racist until, oddly, the time he jumped ship and ran for President of the wrong party. Though...wait a second: Is this another weatherman fallacy, is that what you see here??? Were WaPo, NYT, ABC/CBS/NBC and all the other players that benefited strategically from the media-Trump alliance just asleep at the wheel for the fitty year slug? Or, is it more ominous? Were all your faves complicit? Let me know your thoughts, I mean it could be as simple as calling for heavy rains for 20,000 +/- days and it was all sunshine? Anyway, this wasn’t about me—so I read your little Vox op-Ed as I usually do. I forgot to check if the author was the same one you promoted last time who had a little hypocrisy issue when I compared her #ibelieveher pieces on the woman she supported and the disposable ones with different ideologies. You never wanted to discuss that, so I just read the Vox op-Ed linked. I was 4 lines in when they went and did it again...they lied about Pres Trumps comments about illegal immigrants and crime. We both know he never vilified immigrants...and the fact is the number of people victimized by people here illegally is staggeringly high. I stopped there, because it seems a fool’s errand to try and divine some deep understanding of a writers perspective when they lie within the first 100 words. Where was I—right, it wasn’t about me. It took a while but you came around to my way of thinking. You have convinced me, truly, that the outrage and disgust you feel for the actions purported to be committed by DJT would be wholly and completely acceptable to you if he was the Democrat nominee for President. Your most recent revelation—if I may be bold—is the type of deeply ingrained truth that I was hoping to hear instead of getting back dopey Jim Carrey memes (Jim Carrey, it would seem, is a pretty horrible guy...passing around STDs and treating the women in his life like a true Hollywood lib), and I will take you at your word. My work with you is completed. If you’re right and Joe Biden wins the election, all I can do is laugh at the fake outrage and concerns about the future if the country. All you had to say was you wanted your own serial predator in the WH. Please get back to me on the MSMs hiatus/love affair with The Donald. This oughta be priceless—but remember, you already used “overly affectionate uncle”. ?
  2. You think I was ridiculing you? Pray tell, how? I never mentioned violence or looters, I assumed people of good faith agreed on that. It was a law and order question, and a political question. I'll just mark you down for no citizen should be set upon by police or the military for moving on with life and ignoring lockdown rules. I applaud you. But thank you for the marriage counseling kind sir.
  3. Good for you standing against the protestors. I stand with them, and think they should not be forced to stand down. So, no to troop involvement from NB. I'm assuming you're also a no to the police arresting protestors? Let them protest, but your outrage is noted. If I opened my business in violation of the orders of the state, any state, would you feel the same way? No troops to shut me down, no police to come and fine me or haul me off to the pokey? In other words, outrage aside, good old Niagara B wants a level playing field?
  4. and without that pesky little under oath issue.
  5. huh. i guessed wrong, it really is a thing. in related news, this serves as a reminder that i need to hit the gym.
  6. well established bro-science, or well established (pregnant pause) bro (pregnant pause) science (pregnant pause) dude! I'm not sure if "bro-science" is a thing but if it is, I want no part of anything approximating sausage science. Much love to Toastmaster's International for the 'pregnant pause' and clarity all around.
  7. In this way I am a lot like Acosta. If she flipped my binder I'd likely have chills running down my spine.
  8. You're an emotional soul. That's touching. The virus is responsible for many, many deaths. We know that the folks in charge have estimated that political gerrymandeering of the numbers has them 25% high. I'd think the reality is likely higher, maybe 30-35% high. Still a very large number, still very sad....and still so confusing to me as to why you're not outraged by protestors exposing themselves and fellow citizens who continue to follow social distancing guidelines to this horrible virus that came from China. Given your perspective---Would you support the White House mobilizing the troops to squelch the protests to drive down the numbers? The governors clearly have no stomach for that sort of thing. Assume the president was someone you respected. Maybe as an alternative, force the protestors to disband but suggest as an alternative a virtual protest?
  9. Seriously...I realize the clip was cut off as Acosta blathered on, but he's a dimwit. He starts in with ....those people are protesting...presumably implying that if tens of thousands of people are infected and die, it's acceptable to him personally. It is amazing that he can continue with a straight face.
  10. I wonder if he feels blessed he wasn't raised a Bills fan. That experience can snuff the life right out postiivity. ?
  11. Not surprisingly, I have a different take. I think Joe Biden is the perfect candidate for the dems and folks who see the world as you do. He's cut from the same cloth as HRC, the last heir apparent. Biden suggested recently that upwards of 50,000,000 Americans are bad people. You pegged the number at only slightly higher, around 61,000,000; Biden talks about Trump being divisive, then casts aspersions toward the 61,000,000. You're so turned around that that rhetoric appeals to you, and then spouting off absurdities such as the 60m+ who voted for him look at the world differently than you do, which makes them "ignorant, hateful scared" and not "normal". You're willing to ignore 40 years of visually documented perversion and inappropriate behavior and characterize that as what 'decent' people want from a president. In the same breath, you mention 2016 and by extension, then candidate and pop/vote winner Clinton who enabled her husband and the spouse of her most trusted aide (herself an enabler) as she attacked the women that dared to tell their story as 'bimbos". You and decent people like you agree, the victims are the bimbos when it comes to politics. Joe Biden's record on legislation directly aimed at decimating the minority community is atrocious, but you see it as what 'decent' people like you want. Joe Biden's readily available audio of nearly 5 decades of racist comments, including the unbelievably condescending comments during a national crisis that black voters are not black enough if they vote their conscience, and for people who think like that, it's what decent people think and say. Biden's support and respect for former Klansmen is well-documented, again---that reflects what "decent people" like Joe and Tibs think is reasonable. Biden's bizarre comments to a female voter about being a "lying dog-fced pony soldier", his bullying of voters who dare to question the very well-documented faux pas, legislative 'achievements" and stunning publicly documented lies and attempts to plagarize all represent the standard you and 'decent people" like you live by. Biden's backroom dealings to get his very troubled son a pay for play position in a Ukranian company, away from the prying eyes of the American public, his use of political thuggery to influence a foreign government to assist his son is Taminy Hall-type politics to a tee---just the sort of thing 'decent people' like you like to see. I could go on, after nearly 5 decades in the public eye, a laundry list of missteps and being caught stating emphatically what he truly believes, it occurs to me he's exactly the type of establishment politician that appeals to your narrow point of view. He's done virtually nothing to increase opportunities for people in poverty and/or people in color, but he's done an incredible job pandering to sensitive and decent folks like you. He's gone on a decades-long grope fest--all the while the liberal men who trot their women and children out to be fondled do so with joy in their heart ""Did you see Joe sniff my wife's hair! It was AWESOME!")---and that reflects the standard for you. At the same time, your fearless leaders have the perfect out if he fails. It won't be Joe's atrocious record, his list of accomplishments (which includes more trips to second base in front of a televised audience than Mookie Wilson), his drifting between 2020 & 1998, his dramatic statement that 45% of the population was killed in gun violence since 2008 but magically regenerated by 2020, or the fact that he often confuses Michigan with butterscotch candy...it'll be because of the ignorant and hateful folks like me. You're the road block to growth for your party Tibs...not Trump, not Mitch McConnell, not nobody but you. You're the status quo guy.
  12. If Biden wins, it’s simply a reflection of some voters being comfortable rationalizing decades of sexual misconduct as “hyper-affectionate”, with decades of racially insensitive comments rationalized as “out of context”—including his most recent stunning claim about what constitutes a black voter, decades of Burisma-like corruption and pay-for-play, rationalizing FBI/DOJ/CIA misconduct as just politics. I just saw a story on NBC about concerns that the FBI slow-walked the initial investigation into the USA gymnastics sexual abuse claim ...and they questioned how that could happen. They didn’t mention that was under the O’Biden FBI/DOJ, and oddly, missed the connection between the FBI misconduct during Russia probe. The good news for you Transpy is that you’ll remain blissfully unaware of perpetuating this type of stupidity because all that sort of thing is understandable and acceptable as long as it’s your guy. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
  13. She also used to say to me things like....”blah blah blah it was gross tech.”. She used it fairly often in a variety of contexts when I realized she was trying to say “grotesque”. She was 10 years or so younger than I, I really thought it was something all the cool kids were saying. It could be Pacino though, I hadn’t considered that.
  14. I worked with a lady who, as it turns out, was a fundamentalist Christian. I was unaware and said to her one day "To play devil's advocate..." , she stopped, looked at me in horror and said "HE DOES NOT NEED AN ADVOCATE!". I wasn't even sure initially who she was talking about.
  15. I think it's probably because he was fumbling around the abdomen/groin of the officers in question. I'd hazard a guess that if he casually walked up to just about any man on the street, engaged in dialogue and made those motions the response would be similar. If he did it to a woman, the response would be just as visceral if not worse. When I factor in a very tense situation, and police with a target on their backs, I'd think the officers were concerned with any number of outcomes, none of which are pleasant. As for arresting him, sure, that would have been nice. The narrative would shift to jackbooted thugs rounding up a harmless old guy who just wasn't aware that approaching the police in a riot line might make them very, very uncomfortable. Still, a much better outcome for the officers involved.
  16. How was the dining experience on Saturday? I was catching up and saw that you had plans--was it tough to eat through the mask? Did you order a nice merlot and end up looking like The Joker? Seriously--any static walking in or out from protestors?
  17. About 8 years ago I considered buying a farmhouse just on the county line a couple miles from my house. Part of the property was in the county we lived in and where my children attended school, the other in the neighboring county. As it turned out, the mailing address was the other county, and my children would have had to change schools had we moved. I spoke with administration, explained my situation, half-in the county half-out, right on a bus route, or I could drop my children off and pick them up. As I recall, there was a tax bill due on the property in the town where I live, so presumably there was a connection for my request. The school district relented and told me that for $11,000 per year, per child, they would work with me. As I have three children, the math all told would have been around $100,000 to make it all happen. I chose to pass on the house, though not before mentioning that I knew of two or three teachers in our district that lived in other counties but their children attended our school gratis. My point is that had I tried to beat the system, at $33,000 per year I’m thinking it could be a pretty big deal when caught. Then again, I wasn’t trafficking da hooch in addition to grifting the school district, so maybe they just drop a letter grade off the kids report card?
  18. There it is....the weatherman fallacy. WaPo and NYT are wrong ion Russia for 978 days but they never got the date wrong on one single issue! Page3 always precedes page 4! Yiu have low standards my friend.
  19. Ah, I see it now. @transplantbillsfan describes Joe's penchant for the fondle as a sign of being "affectionate". Its really on the people on the other side of Biden's fingers to realize he is the aggrieved party! I think the Nxivm dude would have done really well in dem politics, maybe even made it to VP. He was misunderstood as well, just like Joe. Who knew the girls did not want to be branded with his initials? Is that really on him?
  20. That’s a different argument, and an argument made by the voting bloc all the time. It’s part of the process. Much of what’s reported as fact is inaccurately portrayed, incorrectly nuanced, and designed to shape the world in certain way by influencing the voting bloc. In other words, the notion of a free and independent press is an illusion.
  21. This is excellent. I would point out the fact that he credits “Lacy” for accepting Fang’s forced public apology. She should be credited for mischaracterizing another’s body of work, setting the mob upon him for asking difficult questions? It sounds to me like she’s in the wrong profession. I would also point to the part where he spoke of journalists reporting inaccurately on the Clinton campaign in an effort to assist her, followed up by his assertion that they actually hurt her campaign, as evidence that the “free press” is nothing of the sort. Transplant uses his infamous weatherman analogy on occasion here, and misses the much larger point: a journalist trying to help a candidate is deliberate attempting to hurt another. Tiabbi misses a crucial point here, at least as it relates to the profession of the journalist: It should never be about helping or hurting a candidate, except on the Op-Ed page. Or, perhaps I missed that and am too lazy to read it again. I mentioned a while back about a radio interview I heard with a local reporter (Albany) who covered NY politics. The reporter offered up how it was common knowledge that former AG Schneiderman had a penchant for cocaine. I was waiting for the follow up question: “What did you find when you investigated one of the highest ranking law enforcement officials in the country with a reputation as a hard ass for illicit drug use?”. Of course, that question never came whic is infuriating to me. Those issues aside, I feel like I could have an intelligent conversation with this guy about the media, the attempt to destroy Trump, and the collapse of faith of the public in what passed today for journalism. He’s about 15 years behind me, and I’m far behind others, but there is common ground here.
  22. In retrospect, then Candidate Trump should have been warned about the Obama administration and weaponization of the FBI and DOJ by Obama/Biden, the CIA attempting to unseat him, manipulation and lies to the FISA court, and unmasking of US citizens, and mainstream media outlets like the Washington post participating in circular and duplicitous reporting for 4 years to destroy his presidency. The Russians were irrelevant, more or less, until suddenly, as if by magic, in the waning days of the 8 year reign of team O’Biden, they were at the gates. Ironically, the greatest threat to a fair election was the segment of the population who bought the mythical tale of hookers, golden showers, the chastity of Team O’Biden, a free an independent press and anonymous sources, and a boogeyman from Leningrad. Phase II is the reimagination of Joe Biden as an able and honest statesman.
  23. I remain uncertain as to the pronunciation. Tibs it down for me please.
  24. I don’t cook, so I do not, but.,,,. Is it pronounced ‘sammin” or “sal-mun”? I’ve been going with option 2 and it drives my kids crazy.
