  1. Tell me why, with near daily lies, Trump is not a LIAR?
  2. Of course I would like medical use to be legal across the country - descheduling would be ideal, but at least down to a 3 to start. I would love to see some program to actually educate existing doctors about the endo-cannabinoid system. Today most do not understand much about this critical cellular communications network. They are very slow to adopt because many are just ignorant and thus hesitant to recommend what they do not really understand. I would like to see cannabis be option 1 in treating many medical (blood pressure, blood sugar, epilepsy, skin cancers, etc) conditions rather than a last resort. It is the least toxic prescription option in most every case. It is likely the least expensive option too. Nudging your body to use its own natural mechanisms to deal with health issues seems to make sense to me. Of course, monetary interests are fighting against cannabis medicine
  3. California likely has the most lenient medical cannabis qualification criteria in the country. Jim, you shouldn't assume the process is the same everywhere. It is not. In NY the names of doctors able to qualify patients for cannabis are not even known to the public. Patients must be referred to these cannabis doctors by their existing doctor. It is not at all easy to qualify in many states. How would the average 12 year old know that someone they would see smoking cannabis had a prescription to use it? They may see Uncle Jim smoking pot in his car and assume he is bad, like they said in 6th grade Science class.
  4. By 'highly addictive' they mean that a higher percentage of people have a problem with the substance than have with a lower addictive substance. Heroin is more highly addictive than cannabis because a higher percentage of regular users of heroin develop a problem with heroin than do regular users of cannabis develop a problem with cannabis. People that do develop a problem with a substance may still have a big problem however. This may be the case with those players or it may not. I don't know. It is possible that they like using it, know most users beat the testing system, and then failed to beat the testing system. Additionally, the effects from withdrawal of different drugs is often considered when discussing how addictive it is for a dependent user. Cannabis withdrawal symptoms are so mild that for years people have argued whether or not there even were withdrawal symptoms.
  5. It is an insincere question I believe but just in case I am misreading you I will answer the cyclosporine question For most of the lives of anyone over 10 years old, marijuana has been vilified by our government, and thus by teachers in our schools. People have been told for years that this is a recreational substance that was dangerous and should be avoided....just say no to drugs included cannabis. Today we are learning that it has tremendous medicinal potential. So it is necessary to explain that duality to some children that have gotten mixed messages over time. Should they think someone they know that uses cannabis is still a good person or are now they bad? Cyclosporine has never been included as recreational or bad when children were taught to 'just say no to drugs'.
  6. The Drug Policy Alliance put out a new Marijuana Fact Booklet. Following is the table of contents, just in case any of you wondered about such topics: A brief history of marijuana Is it true that marijuana has medicinal properties? How strong is today’s marijuana? Is marijuana a gateway drug? Are more people becoming dependent on marijuana? Does marijuana impair driving the way alcohol does? Does using marijuana have long-term effects on the brain? Does marijuana negatively impact mental health? Is there a relationship between marijuana and cancer? What happens when you eat something made with marijuana (a “marijuana-infused edible”)? What are marijuana concentrates? Should I talk to my child about marijuana? Where in the U.S. is marijuana legal? Does marijuana legalization lead to increased use? Do people still get arrested and punished for using marijuana? http://www.drugpolicy.org/sites/default/files/DPA_Marijuana_Facts_Booklet.pdf
  7. Then the choice would be the least of 8 evils, right?
  8. Ah performer, you are as regular as a clock. All I have to do is post and there you appear. As much as your comments are truly moronic, it is still somehow comforting to know that even in our current societal chaos, brought on by the failed policies of Hillary and Obama, you will be there to post horseschit
  9. The NFL doesn't seem much closer to recognizing medical cannabis benefits. http://www.forbes.com/sites/debraborchardt/2016/07/22/nfl-to-name-new-medical-chief-bringing-hope-for-cannabis-concussion-treatment/#31abf2c4247a One problem facing the players is that there haven’t been any studies to support their thesis and anecdotal evidence. Dr. Stuart Titus of Kannalife Sciences said that to date there has only been animal testing. However, he did point to a UCLA study on young adults that had suffered traumatic brain injury. Of the 450 in the study, the patients that had been regular cannabis users were 80% more likely to survive a traumatic brain injury.
  10. If you don't have an answer to the question, why bother saying "I don't have an answer"? Leave it for someone that has something constructive to add. Pretty obvious you folks added nothing Edit: Oops, Doc did add something. Thanks
  11. I don't understand your comments. Why is my question unreasonable?
  12. I have a question for well informed Trump followers. Donald claims that he will keep us safer than today, especially from attacks like the San Bernadino and the Orlando killings. Also, he will demand law and order and he will lessen these cop killings too. The only follow up I heard to that, which certainly can't be the whole story, is that he is going to hire tough prosecutors. Of course, in murder-suicides, prosecutors seldom get involved. What did I miss? How is he claiming to prevent these essentially 'lone wolf' style attacks? If he has a workable plan, maybe we could start on it now rather than waiting for his inauguration.
  13. What are you talking about? I predict that millions of people will vote for him because they are duped into thinking he is now some life long Christian Did you see those delegates in The Daily Show interviews?
  14. Comedy from the Daily Show, but kinda true too. Trump's Christianity under the microscope http://www.cc.com/video-clips/st6k1m/the-daily-show-with-trevor-noah-the-divinity-of-donald-trump
  15. It is ironic how Trump generates new lies on pretty much a daily basis but his supporters, who seem to totally despise lying elsewhere, are OK with each of them. Why is it that Trumps lies don't get him labeled LIAR?
  16. There were some interesting points on, historically speaking, what has made a 'good president' looking at our past presidents. http://www.ourwhitehouse.org/helpwanted.html In her Parade magazine essay “The Secrets of America’s Great Presidents,” Goodwin encourages citizens to consider ten qualities when choosing a president. According to Goodwin a great president has the courage to stay strong in the face of adversity; is confident enough to seek different viewpoints; can learn from his or her mistakes; is willing to embrace change; is emotionally intelligent (willing to share credit with others, accept blame, and convey strength); can maintain self-control in the midst of trouble; is aware and in touch with popular sentiment; possesses a strong moral compass; is able to relax; and finally, communicates well and inspires others. Journalist and professor David Gergen agrees with many of Goodwin’s conclusions. In his book Eyewitness to Power, Gergen writes about his experiences working intimately with and observing four American presidents—Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Clinton—and concludes with seven lessons of leadership he has gleaned from them. One compelling similarity between Goodwin’s and Gergen’s conclusions is the need for a leader who actively seeks advice from knowledgeable advisors and is willing to listen to many different points of view. Gergen also agrees that the gift of inspiring others is vital, but adds the need to be able to explain policy and persuade others effectively, particularly the public at large. Additional qualities that Gergen deems critical are the ability to master one’s inner self and execute self control at all times; the possession of a clear, compelling purpose or mission; a willingness and ability to work with others throughout government; and, the motivation to get down to the business of the country as soon as he or she steps foot in the Oval Office.
  17. That would not then register a score in the case where just the 'fat' part of the ball crossed, say when a runner is tackled while running parallel to the goal line.
  18. I am not quite sure how chip technology will work as far as determining whether or not the ball broke the plane of the goal line. Obviously if it goes completely over, the chip could be anywhere on the ball. In really close calls though, one part of the ball may break the plane while another part may never get over the line. Where on the ball is the chip?
  19. I believe Marley died of melanoma that metastasized to other body organs. It is difficult to treat skin cancer by smoking or even by ingesting cannabis concentrates as not enough cannabinoids seem to get to the tumor. There are many types of skin cancer and some forms may not respond. Skin cancers that will respond seem to respond best to a topical application, from personal experience and from my reading. Cannabinoids in the bloodstream do not seem to naturally get taken up by the skin and that allows skin cancers to form and grow in cannabis users.
  20. Here is a pretty recent research report on the subject entitled Anti-Cancer Mechanisms of Cannabinoids http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4791144/ From the Conclusion section To summarize, cannabinoids induce tumour cell death and inhibit tumour angiogenesis and invasion in animal models of cancer, and there are indications that they act similarly in patients with glioblastoma. Given that cannabinoids show an acceptable safety profile, clinical trials testing them as single drugs or, ideally, in combination therapies in glioblastoma and other types of cancer are both warranted and urgently needed.
  21. I thought that this was an interesting article. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/07/medical-marijuana-costs-elderly-health/491306/ from the article... A new study by researchers Ashley Bradford and W. David Bradford at the University of Georgia indicates that legalizing medical marijuana prescriptions for seniors reduces “use of prescription drugs for which marijuana could serve” and also “has a significant effect on prescribing patterns and spending in Medicare Part D,” the Medicare component that pays for prescription drugs for enrollees. The researchers identified nine conditions for which medical marijuana has evidence of efficacy in treatment—including anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and pain—and compared overall prescriptions for other existing drugs in states where medical marijuana is legal versus states where it is not legal.
  22. Interactions between police and citizens will invariably lead to unfortunate incidents for all of the reasons you guys have mentioned. That is a sad truth, imo. The crux of the problem isn't that the events occur, it is that a large percentage of the citizenry don't feel that officers are held accountable when they misbehave. Anyone who has had any regular encounters with police know that the vast majority of officers do the right thing the vast majority of time. Historically though, when an officer has misbehaved, other officers would cover for him/her and the 'bad' officer was not disciplined for the misdeed. What has changed? The videos are the difference. There is now proof of wrongdoing to counter the officers' cover stories. When an officer is not held accountable for a videotaped misdeed, there is outrage by the wronged group such as after the Rodney King beating court decisions I too think body cams help both parties. Bad cops can be uncovered without another officer having to 'report' him/her while wrongfully accused officers have some evidence to counter those claims.
  23. How about a 2nd, higher cross bar? Force the kick to be low enough to go into a 'goal'. Certainly make it a much tougher kick as well as much more easily blocked.
  24. Well, it is pretty obvious that the 'war on drugs' has become a large wedge between police and public. The war on drugs have allowed more and more infringements on rights over time. What infringements? - stop and frisk policing - traffic stops that are actually fishing expeditions are essentially illegal searches - traffic checkpoints are essentially illegal searches - asset forfeiture with respect to drug raids has gotten out of control. Police now rely on these funds causing conflict of interest. - no knock swat team raids on suspected cannabis grow operations endanger citizens needlessly - etc. Say anything concerning gun control and this site sprouts tens of constitutional scholars. They don't seem to speak about these other rights violations though. I have read here lots of times, 'if it doesn't affect me directly, I don't care'. Have you heard the protest chant, 'No Justice, No Peace!' ?? The injustices allowed in our war on drugs are coming back around. Perhaps folks should be more concerned when they see injustice affecting others around them.
  25. I think most of the police traffic stops for tail lights being out are basically police fishing expeditions. I don't have statistics so am not really sure but I've long suspected these are a part of the war on drugs. The officer gets to shine the flashlight inside the vehicle and looks for other violations. Let's face it, a burned out tail light is not all that dangerous to the public. I am sure their in-car software could be altered to simply generate a postcard with a warning. Maybe it would be a good idea to curtail these types of stops. Might it be time to create fewer of these interactions with guns so available and officers so edgy? I am not advocating for not stopping suspicious vehicles, but perhaps it is not the best atmosphere for fishing expeditions
