  1. I think something is getting lost in translation here. The entire article seems poorly edited. From near the end: "The other strange part of the experience is that Dockery didn't lose much money by being released by the Bills, In fact, he had some financial gains. The Bills paid him $18.5 million during his first two years in Buffalo. Those first two years very pretty much guaranteed." What does that even mean? If you've already been paid money by definition I'd say it's guaranteed. And as others have pointed out, the only deadline the Bills could've been facing was a self-imposed one.
  2. Yeah, why on earth would anyone be excited about getting a guy who's been a consistent producer when we can get some stiff who's 6'3" instead? Production doesn't matter, it's all about the size.
  3. Sadly, it was. What's even worse is I find myself looking back fondly on that era.
  4. Sounds like he has a high motor.
  5. I don't think a suspension would be the worst news. Maybe it would get him to think a bit before he gets in the next dumb situation. If a 1 or 2 game suspension now might help avoid a later incident, I think it would be worth the short-term hit to the team's play.
  6. That's either going to happen or not, but I don't see a good reason to worry about it right now. If Lynch continues to screw up he'll be gone, but what do we gain by getting worked up over it? I don't think it's a good idea to get rid of Lynch and create yet another hole to fill, and if you're not prepared to cut ties with him you may as well wait and see how things play out.
  7. Good post. I think Lynch is in danger of heading into that area where his off-field problems become an on-field issue, but I don't see any point in getting caught up in judging him. Let him pay the consequences of his actions, but me getting angry at him over it won't make a bit of difference. I hope anyone who wants to get rid of him doesn't complain when the Bills use another high pick on an RB.
  8. Yep, Lynch and the guy who beheaded his wife, exactly the same. That's exactly what everyone's saying. Why not bring in Hitler while you're at it?
  9. Quite frankly, that would be shocking to me.
  10. Here's my problem with the situation. These guys will not sit back and let events unfold. They have to go out and fan the flames against Lynch. Even granting that he's been dumb and immature, does he get a chance to change his behavior? Especially in a case like this where there is no victim? Are these media figures reporting on what happens or shaping the narrative? Frankly I don't know these guys from Adam so the fact that they think Lynch is a bad guy means jack to me.
  11. Now we're talking about him running over mailboxes and carrying his own booze into bars (well, again on that one)? This is ridiculous. You've got two jokes lumped together with two serious offenses. If you want to make a case about Lynch having poor judgment I suggest leaving off the first two.
  12. I don't see the connection between how Lynch treated the police in Buffalo last year and what happened with the police in Culver City. Not necessarily disagreeing with you on the larger issue, but I think this is a real stretch.
  13. Such a hilarious yet substantive reply.
  14. Now this I agree with 100%. I certainly hope they're not rushing into any kind of extension, and they have another year or two to see how he develops. If the Bills actually improve their front 7 it should be easier to get a clearer picture of how Whitner is capable of playing.
  15. Whether Whitner was worthy of a top 10 pick has no bearing on this topic either. We're never getting that pick back and the fact that it doesn't seem possible to discuss Whitner without it coming up is very frustrating. The more interesting question to me is how does Whitner stack up against other starting safeties in the league? Is he going to be worth the cost to extend his contract in a year or so? What would it take to replace him if the Bills decide to go that route? None of those questions have anything at all to do with his draft position or who the Bills could've taken instead.
  16. I can't believe that you're arguing this strongly against Gruden when the guy has had success with two different franchises. Is there some hype? Probably. He's not the greatest coach to ever be involved with the game. But the way you seem intent on minimizing anything he ever did, it almost seems personal. I mean, why is this a big deal to you? Every time there's a post on Gruden I can count on seeing 4 or 5 replies from you ripping the guy and I gotta say, you're not coming across as an objective observer of the game.
  17. Again, I don't get this. You're saying the coaching staff sucks, so don't improve the talent level on offense. And Trent won't throw the ball, so don't improve the receivers. That makes no sense to me.
  18. Absolutely zero question in my mind that the Bills need to bring in another legitimate receiving threat, regardless of anyone's opinion of Trent. If they don't it will be criminal. I think all options need to be on the table, whether it's finding a receiver in the draft who can step in and contribute, or a high-profile trade.
  19. Well, what else is there to talk about? Welcome to January as a Buffalo Bills fan.
  20. I'm not 100% sold on the trade idea, and there's no way in hell it will happen, but it is an intriguing idea. My point was not "Edwards is great", it was just that using "Edwards is not great" as a reason to argue that Boldin would not be a good pickup does not make sense. Edwards may be good, he may be bad, he may be mediocre, but right now the receiving corps is inadequate. I think a trade of Lynch for Boldin is absolutely, 100%, an upgrade for the offense, if Jackson stays healthy. But that's a big question mark. It would leave us thin at running back. But then again, as it stands the Bills are under-talented and thin at receiver. So a trade would at least leave the team with a better starting lineup than they currently have. And yeah, that's an assumption, but it's an assumption based on seeing how Boldin and Jackson have performed in their time in the league. Feel free to disagree, but it doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
  21. Here's the thing though. If Edwards is as bad as you fear the Bills are screwed either way. That's not a reason to hold off on stocking the cupboard for when they get the right guy in. And as much as I like Josh Reed as a player, Evans/Reed is nowhere close to a potential Boldin/Evans combo in terms of setting up a QB for success. Holding off on upgrading offensive weapons because you don't think Edwards will take advantage of them doesn't make sense. Let's get the players to improve the offense and see what Edwards can do. If he doesn't improve, move on.
  22. Yeah. Meanwhile, in the real world, the guy just replied to your thread with his own ideas and you proceeded to bash him. If you ever wonder why you're mocked every time you post, you might look at your response in this thread to find a reason.
  23. Do you even realize how you come across to people?
  24. I'm convinced at this point that Wilson will have to luck into finding the next coordinator on the rise. To me, contrary to the regular arguments for "continuity", it's an argument for turnover in the coaching department until someone impresses you. So who knows if a guy like this would be an upgrade, but at this point the Bills have little to lose by trying to find out.
  25. So if he provides a link to some random website saying that, you'd be satisfied?
