Simple economic dynamics. What percentage of total PSLs sold did that 20,000 represent? Did the lowering of those 20,000 PSL prices cause the Jets to lose revenue or simply not generate as much as they wanted? The team wasn’t hurt in the least from what I can gather.

“Higgins said the team was sending an e-mail Friday to alert fans of the reduced prices in the $1.6 billion stadium. Lower end-zone seats will be dropped from $5,000 to $2,500, as will those in the mezzanine end zone. Seats in the lower-sideline section will be cut from $15,000 to $10,000.”

Those are 2010 prices and given how long ago that was, those do seem rather steep, given the Bills are apparently changing similar amounts 14 years later. So the Jets may have overestimated the demand at those prices. Also, this is back when there were TV blackouts if the stadium wasn’t sold out 72 hours before the game.

The marketing mistake the Bills have made in this shameful timeshare style sales process.

I’ve dug into the history of the past 8 or so stadiums built, and as far as my research has lead me, no other teams have done this. It’s completely out of left field.

They created no hype, spent zero time getting people excited, and then chose the absolute worst sales process imaginable, with the highest negative connotations. This is a textbook case of what NOT to do.

Any indications that Legends has done this shameful practice elsewhere previously?  Or is their first attempt at running the show like they are for the Bills?

I'm still trying to figure out how it's possible for the new stadium to double the value of individual viewing angles of the game.... it's not like the seats are super relevant at a bills game when the bills are relevant, stand the whole game when it's being played.

well, i guess the seats do matter then because 1/2 of the total time is commercial and replay reviews these days lol... still not worth double.

I guess all the value is about everything except the game itself and in my opinion buffalo didn't need that, the entertainment is served outside the stadium before and after the game in the parking lot, this isn't NYC.

Well, the new PSL owners will be sitting on their gold fleece orthopedic pillows

Most of the current wind problems at the current stadium will be mitigated by the more north/south orientation and much shallower bowl of the new stadium and that’s before any deliberate wind-lessening design elements are incorporated into the structure itself.

Isn’t the new stadium going to be taller than the current stadium?  I thought I read that the new stadium will be as high as the light standards on the current stadium.  I know the bottom won’t be as deep in the ground, so it will have to be higher than the current stadium.

Also, the more north-south orientation won’t do anything to lessen the wind speed.

I would say having a more enclosed design without open ends, like the current stadium, is going to be the biggest wind deterrent.

It will be interesting to see how the wind confusion does/doesn’t work.

What, you think that the Pegulas will offer partial refunds?  LOL

They have a lifestyle to maintain and it's a safe bet that that wouldn't fit with the Pegula Family Values.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    LOL

Maybe @Mr Info can give a quick recap of if and how it’s addressed in the PSL agreement. I would want some kind of explanation of how that would be addressed before I put that much money (15k - 50k) into it.  For PSLs under about 5k, I wouldn’t care so much.

The cost for the team to leave, as it's been explained, is that all they'd have to do is reimburse the state/county for the $850M given them.

Whether that's enough to anchor them here long-term remains to be seen.  But given what teams have gotten in the past to move or stay where they've been, and with the overseas market opening up, it shouldn't be beyond comprehension that at some point another locale would offer a package that includes that amount to relocate.

I wonder what will happen with PSLs if they were to move.

I suppose it will be SOL.

My issue, and it’s besides the point. Is that people can’t assume that the back 65% of people will be under cover.

It appears that 100% of the 200s, 300s, and possibly 400s will be completely covered. And we’re seeing that a lot of those seats aren’t for the average fan.

I don’t believe that 100% of the 500s will be covered. Probably 60-80% of them. I also don’t believe ANY of the 100s will be covered unless your in the last few rows under the 200 overhang.

again, I didn’t want to hijack your post. I just see the % of seats that will be covered and always get annoyed with it.

Not to mention, if the wind doesn’t get “confused”, the downwind side of the stadium probably will have very minimal protection from the canopy.

I must be sitting in the wrong sections, because Bills games are pretty tame. Especially compared to what they used to be. You used to see the yellow jackets swarming sections and breaking up fights and escorting people out all over the stadium. I rarely ever see that any more.

I miss the races on the top of the 100-level suites!  Toward the end of games, some drunk guy would climb up and start running! 🤣🤣

    "40 years ago this week:

One of the lengthiest trials in the history of Western New York was underway in New York State Supreme Court.

It involved the proposed dome stadium in Lancaster which was supposed to serve as a new home for the Buffalo Bills.

In 1969, Erie County agreed in principle with developer Edward Cottrell to build the indoor, multi use stadium along with a theme park and hotel complex on land bounded by Genesee St., Harris Hill Rd., Walden Ave., and Story Rd.

However, as cost estimates for the project rose, the county shifted gears and decided on an open air stadium in Orchard Park for about one-third of the cost of the dome stadium complex.

Cottrell sued for breach of contract, seeking more than $400 million in damages,. and setting off a near two decade long legal battle.

After it took 14 years for the case to get to trial, the trial  itself lasted 42 weeks and concluded with Cottrell being awarded $53 million. However, after another five years of appeals, the county finally paid Cottrell $10 million, concluding the case after 19 years."

    What could have been.

Had a friend on this jury.  They were sequestered for much of that time from what I recall. It was a nightmare for them.

  10. Trade 28 far enough down to get someone’s first next year and have a pair of 1s and 2s next year. Take advantage of the deep class this year and position yourself to do something special next year.

The cap situation will be much better and the draft position will be much better. Use this year to prep for a big 2025.

Which lot is the “mud lot”?

I was just checking.  It is off Route 20A, south of the field house and next to Lot 1 on the east side.  County records show Brian Barco as owner, so the transfer hasn’t been updated in the web database. I saw a Reddit thread saying 2.5 million for the sale. Based on the county owning all the stadium property, I expect it was the county that bought the mud lot also.  Erie County property records don’t have any land owned by the Bills.

Well they bought the mud lot last year. Don’t remember the exact number but I think it was something like 5m

According to OnX app it looks like Erie County owns the Mud Lot, but that information is just a download from the county records and those take some time to reflect property transfers.

Thank you. I appreciate that nice post.

As for the org chart, I often fail at humor. Things I find funny, most don’t. It’s a flaw of mine.

And then sometimes i’ll post or say something that people find hilarious and i’ll spend 20 minutes analyzing it, trying to figure out what I said that was funny. Go figure!

For the record I found the image of the equation jumbles you posted quite humorous. I don’t mind ribbing as long as I know that it’s not meant to insult.

I gotta tell you, I had to show my wife the org chart comment because it really was hilarious. Well done.

And you will forever be in TSW lore for posting your tax return.

    That was retatta-level genius.
