Interesting. I have heard New England really likes JJ and that he very well could be the guy at #3.

Gunner - I read a lot of threads where people say “I heard…”. Just curious if you have a source (not that you need to name it), or would it be more accurate to say “I read”?  Just trying to separate the wheat from the chaff in these threads.

are you kidding me dude? Your really going to argue that selling your tickets to the season opener, the year after we lost in the .13 game, the year we signed Von Miller, the year that every single media outlet had us as the front runner for the years AFC Super Bowl contender, which happened to be a night game. And you want to tell me you didn’t lose money on those tickets? Yeah….. NO CHIT!!!!

you are absolutely crazy dude. I can no longer read a single thing you ever write and take you with seriousness at all in any way shape or form.

It took you long enough! 🤣🤣

  3. If you can find a copy, read “OJ Education of a Rich Rookie”. A book OJ and a co-author wrote about his rookie season. Interesting times and racial biases back then. Changing of the guard from the championship-era Bills to the terrible teams of the early 70s. Hard to believe the NFL and society have changed that much in my lifetime. Black QBs were barely being accepted.

I think it was the 1973 season we were driving to a game on the Youngmann and who do we pass but OJ driving his car to the game. He smiled and waved at me and this 14-year old was ecstatic.

When OJ had his 2003 yard season I cut out and pasted in a notebook each week’s Bills stories from the Courier Express and Buffalo News.

Will there be a moment of silence or an OJ patch on the jersey?

The moment of silence will simply be a chorus of boos. Never happen.

If that was the only payment, yes. But you're forgetting - it will be the PSL payment, PLUS the season ticket payment. A PSL payment of $200 is double what they spend on seasons right now, and the season ticket payment will likely go up by at least 50% as well. In essence, we are talking about a 3x increase in cash outlay.

Another place where price sensitivity will come into play with lower earners is the down payment required. I saw one person was quoted a down-payment of $8,000. I don't know the terms, but that surprised me and is likely where the lower earners will struggle (ie: see my comments on elasticity of demand).

Ugh, yeah I do remember someone saying the financing was available after the down payment. Not to

    mention, in most cases, people

will be buying a minimum of two seats.

Are you under the impression that it is $1,100 per MONTH?

    It's not.

The 300-level is (on average - sections vary) 9 monthly payments of $89 per month. The 100 level is on average 9 monthly payments of $122 per month.

Therefore if you wanted to use a monthly budget, it would be $3,200/mo take home, with $3,111 left after budgeting the seasons in the 300's, and $3,078 leftover in the 100's.

    Yeah, they are.

You’re making a convincing argument that even average earners can afford the new $15,000 PSLs.  A 10-year loan at 10% interest is about $200/month.

  7. I’m grateful for the STH that sell their tickets. It makes it much easier to go to the occasional game.  Back in the day, it was a scramble to get individual game tickets as soon as they went on sale.

And it’s not just the STHs that will be paying the PSL; anyone buying a resale ticket is going to be paying a lot more to account for the PSL and increased game ticket cost.

The owners are going to keep pushing the envelope as long as there’s someone buying what they are selling. Corporations may be able to write off the expense of the suites/clubs. The rest of us will be paying more and more and slowly dropping out as the cost becomes prohibitive or we just tire of bending over.

Like everything in life, the NFL is changing and you either roll with it or tap out.

Late to the thread (in recent days/pages) but $22/hr is around $45k/yr...THEREFORE you must be...joking?

Read the prior 2-3 pages. But hurry up because we are now up to 150k a year and rising fast.

The take home pay of someone around $50,000 is roughly $3,300.  $1,100 for a ticket is 1/3 of their monthly take home pay.

Yes, I know its not full of doctors and executives.  I am not a doctor or executive and sit in the 1st row in every game I can attend.  The people I sit next to aren’t doctors and executives either.

Notice that the discussion has been moved from people earning $22/hr buying PSLs to people making $50k a year buying current season tickets. This is how Einstein operates.

You would downright be shocked if the current season ticket holders was much more than $50,000?

I would be downright shocked if it was more than 5% of season ticket holders around total income at $50,000.  That is roughly $3,200 take home pay a month WITHOUT deducting insurance and other things.

Sorry, I'm not seeing that how that family is affording season tickets.

Gotta keep that story going about how tragic the PSLs are for the little man. I mean, they won’t even let you use food stamps to buy a PSL. Friggin Pegula!!

Billionaires don’t pay. Average Jane’s and Joe’s working for $22 per hour pay.

And that’s okay, because other teams do it (or at least that’s the argument from other fans defending it).

You really think people making $22/hour are buying PSLs?  They must have elite budgeting skills.

With that thought in mind, I wonder why Polencarz voiced his displeasure at the reported costs of the PSLs recently when the county owns the right to sell them in the first place.

He’s a politician. He heard people were upset, so he jumped out to lead the charge for the common folk.

Unfortunately, he’s also an idiot and made people upset when he went to Ohio to view the eclipse. The first comment in response to his waxing poetic about the eclipse is hilarious.

Yeah, it was one of the first things that they showed us as we went through. The model that they have of the stadium was pretty awesome as well. It’s going to be really nice.

I’m surprised the one club doesn’t have viewing of the field.  Is it located behind some suites or just buried in the structure somehow?

The Bills aren’t avoiding revenue sharing in the least because revenues from the sale of PSLs are not subject to sharing with the league. The league still gets their 40% share of the gate revenue for any particular game just like it’s been for decades.

I read that the PSL sales can only go toward the stadium construction costs, but it was probably here that I read it so YMMV.

I have to admit that I don’t understand how all of this PSL stuff works. What exactly are you buying and how does it work? For example:

Does the cost of the PSL include the cost of the game/event ticket? And if not, I assume the actual ticket prices will increase over time?

Does a PSL guarantee first right of refusal on ANY event held in the stadium?

Is the PSL permanent or does it just cover a specific span of years? In other words, does it expire?

Is the PSL transferable to your family/heirs?

Does the PSL include a free parking pass?

    Ironically, it’s a lot like a timeshare….

  16. We were on a lakeshore north of Syracuse.  You could see the shadow (umbra?) approaching from the southwest.  As it passed over, everyone was screaming and cheering. Got to see the ring of fire through the clouds. The sunset over the lake was gorgeous. Then suddenly it was light again. Definitely a lifetime experience.

Also, no discernible change from normal traffic despite all the warnings.

  17. The Wikipedia and other articles about the making of the album are really interesting. And the female singer in Great Gig in the Sky sued for a writing credit and won, even though she doesn’t sing any words.

Yes, close to 20,000. As I said.

Maybe you’re confused due the 9,000 that wasn’t sold. They essentially had to lower everyone’s prices who purchased in those sections in order to get the last 10k sold.

Considering that teams hold back several thousand tickets for individual sales (they don’t sell seasons for all seats), and that the Jets didn’t sell PSL’s (at all) in a lot of the upper decks, those 18,000 seats were likely close to 30% of all season tickets.

Summary; The Jets had to reduce PSL pricing on 18,000 PSLS. Atlanta did too. Oakland did too.

    IMG-8642.jpg

And perhaps this is why the Bills haven’t released an overall pricing structure.  They are going with the infamous “dynamic pricing” like done for concerts and other events.  They are gauging the market as they sell PSLs from top to bottom.

The Bills also have a very layered pricing where different rows in the same section have different prices, at least that’s what I saw from a figure someone presented upthread.   So that will give them further flexibility to have multiple price points within section.

Perhaps the Bills/Legends have studied past PSL sales and seen the trends in the Jets, Falcons and Raiders sales and developed this method to avoid having to lower prices after they are announced.

Just a thought. Not defending it. Offering an explanation.

I appreciate the info and the effort to furnish it, but it doesn’t answer the two questions I asked.

But again, it’s simple economic dynamics at play: reduce prices to increase demand. It will be interesting to see what percentage of seats the Bills end up lowering the PSL prices on and if they will be the same type of cheaper seats as the Jets ended up lowering. If so, that would indicate that sales of the premiums will have gone just fine.

I think the article does a good job of answering your questions. It wasn’t 20k seats, it was 9,000 unsold seats that they lowered the price to ensure a sell out. They offered 9,000 other seat holders a refund for the difference in the original PSL price and the reduced price.   So, you can easily check the capacity of the stadium to see the percentage of total seats this represents.

And it seems clear they lost potential revenue by lowering the costs, but it seems doubtful they were in the red because of it, given the percentage of seats it represents. Your question about revenue isn’t really an either/or situation as you posed it; it does represent a loss of revenue and as a consequence, they did not make as much revenue as they had anticipated.

I can imagine! It's exactly what the Jets did. And the Falcons. And the Raiders.

Although the Raiders (to their credit), ended up reimbursing the fans who paid more at first.

The Jets also refunded the difference to 9,000 PSL holders who had already purchased in the reduced price sections, per the article I linked. The reduced price was for 9,000 unsold seats.

Ummm….because he was drunk?  Drinking to excess and poor decision making go hand in hand.

A better question is why he didn’t have someone with him for the evening to make sure he didn’t do anything stupid. He must have an agent, and you’d think the agent has a financial interest to make sure his clients are protected leading up to the draft.
