  1. I had hopes the Bills would play well and impress....and I have hopes I'll win the lotto when I buy that ticket once every blue moon. In hindsight, expecting a team with a new coaching staff, new offense, new defense, a long injury list and a talent-deprived roster to function well in their first game is pushing it. That's why my prediction Friday was that there would be much wailing and gnashing of teeth today.....bingo! Should have played the lotto instead!

If I'm going to follow the Bills, I hope for the best, but my expectations are much lower. I said earlier this year, if they give us a couple MEMORABLE wins (plus maybe a few not so memorable wins), I'll be happy. It's a major transition year, there are more holes than can be filled in 1-2 years, and we continue to be snake-bitten with injuries. I'll be happy if the games are close and competitive throughout the year. To expect anything more isn't in me. But I'll continue to hope for a miracle!

The "transition" decade of the aughts (2000-2009) will make that Super Bowl win that much sweeter! Hopefully it happens before I die. I've been following them since '68 and am starting to feel and look a little like Ralph.

  2. I just stated my feelings and I in no way intended to start a fight. All I was trying to say is the guy hasn't proved anything to me. He is 0-0 as a Bills coach. I don't think Gailey is doing anything remarkable. I like the direction and the things I am hearing but in no way shape or form is he doing anything out of the ordinary. I will remian skeptical until proven otherwise. I am not about to sing his praise until I see results. You can sing as much as you want and as loud as you want.

    Hard to argue with that!

Speaking of singing, cue the Elton John music: "Biiiitch, Biiitch, the B word is baaaaack....."

  3. From a fan who has only had season tickets once (and split them with someone else so I only went to 4 games), I have sat all over that stadium. Corner Endzone, second row up, twenty yrd line, behind endzone, etc. The best seats are the upper deck 300 sections. If you like being able to see all the players no matter where the ball is and see how plays develop that is where you should look. You dont have to be centered on the 50 either. Id say first 10 rows of the upper deck, any section. Those are the best seats in the house. Cheap too.

Late in Nov its best to be on the home sideline so the wind is at your back and not in your face. That Giants game the year they won the SB was awful. Sleeting snow and rain straight to the face bc I was on the visitors sideline

I hear ya Thoner, but I much prefer anywhere in the lower bowl to the upper deck. Just seem to feel more part of the action when sitting in the lower bowl - if you are going for the "experience". It's definitely a personal preference thing. If you make it to the game, get there early and walk around the stadium during the game or even warmups to get a feel for different vantage points.

Unfortunately, tickets could be expensive and hard to come by - Steelers fans are notorious for traveling in droves and that hurts ticket availability.

Enjoy! It's an amazing experience....I've had season tickets since around 1999 and live in Syracuse. Sunday is the best day of the week!

  4. Thanks for posting the video. That was a lot of fun to watch.

For me, witnessing a Bills Super Bowl win would be tantamount to finding out I have a $150 million dollar winning lottery ticket, or the birth of a child. It'd be right up there.

Whoa! It'd be waaaay better than the birth of a child; trust me, I have three girls and once they became teenagers, I was searching for retroactive birth control!

  5. Promo I enjoy your posts but you have got to be careful. This team is rebuilding and has serious depth and experience issues. The OL is still very questionable until proven otherwise. The defensive front seven is unproven in playing a new scheme. The QB situation is also questionable. We shall see this year if Edwards is ever going to develop, be a leader, and throw the dam ball down the field. We have a roster full of players that are used to losing and have not figured out how to win close games.

I can see 8 or 9 wins if all questionable areas turn out for the best. Realistically I think that it is very possible that this team plays better than last year and still only wins 4 or 5 games.

Hey Promo - Why is it you "have got to be careful"?.................did you go and bet the house and your first-born child on the Bills winning 7 this year? How many times have I told you to cut that S%$# out!

When I first read your post, I thought maybe you were simply thinking positive. Apparently, you've not been careful!!!

  6. 42 year old hot woman with 3 daughters- I am guessing at least one is 21

    That would be......FAIL.

Hubbs' Facebook page says that she lives in Livermore with her dentist husband and has been married for 20 years. She wrote that she has three “beautiful kids” aged 13, 10, and 8.

  7. this woman is no criminal. she's the coolest lady in the world!!

    ummmm...maybe not so much....

The Contra Costa Times reports that in a separate case, Hubbs is being charged with four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of discharge of a BB gun.

On June 29, police say a bicyclist reported being shot by an Airsoft projectile by boys from Hubbs’ black Hummer.

The boys admitted to the shooting but said that Hubbs bought the guns for them and didn’t try to stop them, the Contra Costa Times reports. KPIX reports that those boys were 10 years old.

  8. except its not a "quote" at all. it was a rip between the two of them as they were jawwing. nothing more.

Wood didnt come out in the media and say anything about it, nor will he ever, because he doesnt care that much.

again, reading waaaaay too much into some trash talk that went down between team mates in the heat of a fight.

anyone who has played football, or any other contact sport, is familiar with this.

    just stop already.

C'mon Doc...let the kids play! This is fun to watch! :censored:

  9. I didn't intend to bring people down or cause needless worry.

When Promo subtitled his thread "It may be a moment to note" I anticipated him writing about not taking our football team for granted…taking stock in the fact that we still have the Bills to cheer for.

It just seemed an appropriate time (the start of Bills Camp) that we should recognize and understand where we stand and savor our football team. Really appreciate the time we have with our favorite team.

I guess (for me) the Bills are almost like a loved one. Cherish them. Don't take them for granted. Appreciate the time we've been given with them.

And back to the original intent of the thread, yes. I'm very excited about 2010. Go Bills!

Well stated and I agree it's time to appreciate what we have. For all the pissing and moaning about the line, the QBs, the front office, etc., there will be exponentially more whining if this team is ever taken from us. Only 32 cities have NFL teams, and Buffalo is one of them, thankfully! Enjoy it while you can!

We now return you to your thread, already in progress.........

  10. WHY ARE YOU A BILLS FAN?

I think for me, it's my connection to my Dad. He died when I was 16 (I'm 51 now), and my memories of him are closely tied to the Bills. As a little guy, I'd be out playing and come running in the house to ask what the score was and whether we were wearing white or dark (it was black and white TV in those days).

I started following them on my own in 1968, and going to games with him in War Memorial are very fond memories. In 1970, he sprang for the most expensive tickets, 3 of them at $7 each under the roof. I looked at them every day pinned on the board in the kitchen. When game day came, my Dad took me for a walk and said he couldn't go because he was having chest pains. I was so disappointed and ended up having to go with my mother and my sister. It was horrible....drunks spilled wine on me, burned cigarette holes in our blanket, and OJ got his knee torn up on a kickoff return and was lost for the season. The Bills got trashed by the Bengals.

But it never made me lose faith in the team, because it was a big connection to my Dad. When I lost him, I kept following the Bills, even after moving to Syracuse and having to listen to the games on a staticy radio feed of the games from Rochester. Bills games usually weren't televised in Syracuse back in the mid-80s, and that's probably a good thing! But I kept following them, and ended up going to the last Super Bowl to see them lose yet again. But no matter, I'll always be a Bills fan and always think of my Dad with every game!
