  1. except its not a "quote" at all. it was a rip between the two of them as they were jawwing. nothing more.

Wood didnt come out in the media and say anything about it, nor will he ever, because he doesnt care that much.

again, reading waaaaay too much into some trash talk that went down between team mates in the heat of a fight.

anyone who has played football, or any other contact sport, is familiar with this.

    just stop already.

C'mon Doc...let the kids play! This is fun to watch! :censored:

  2. I didn't intend to bring people down or cause needless worry.

When Promo subtitled his thread "It may be a moment to note" I anticipated him writing about not taking our football team for granted…taking stock in the fact that we still have the Bills to cheer for.

It just seemed an appropriate time (the start of Bills Camp) that we should recognize and understand where we stand and savor our football team. Really appreciate the time we have with our favorite team.

I guess (for me) the Bills are almost like a loved one. Cherish them. Don't take them for granted. Appreciate the time we've been given with them.

And back to the original intent of the thread, yes. I'm very excited about 2010. Go Bills!

Well stated and I agree it's time to appreciate what we have. For all the pissing and moaning about the line, the QBs, the front office, etc., there will be exponentially more whining if this team is ever taken from us. Only 32 cities have NFL teams, and Buffalo is one of them, thankfully! Enjoy it while you can!

We now return you to your thread, already in progress.........

  3. WHY ARE YOU A BILLS FAN?

I think for me, it's my connection to my Dad. He died when I was 16 (I'm 51 now), and my memories of him are closely tied to the Bills. As a little guy, I'd be out playing and come running in the house to ask what the score was and whether we were wearing white or dark (it was black and white TV in those days).

I started following them on my own in 1968, and going to games with him in War Memorial are very fond memories. In 1970, he sprang for the most expensive tickets, 3 of them at $7 each under the roof. I looked at them every day pinned on the board in the kitchen. When game day came, my Dad took me for a walk and said he couldn't go because he was having chest pains. I was so disappointed and ended up having to go with my mother and my sister. It was horrible....drunks spilled wine on me, burned cigarette holes in our blanket, and OJ got his knee torn up on a kickoff return and was lost for the season. The Bills got trashed by the Bengals.

But it never made me lose faith in the team, because it was a big connection to my Dad. When I lost him, I kept following the Bills, even after moving to Syracuse and having to listen to the games on a staticy radio feed of the games from Rochester. Bills games usually weren't televised in Syracuse back in the mid-80s, and that's probably a good thing! But I kept following them, and ended up going to the last Super Bowl to see them lose yet again. But no matter, I'll always be a Bills fan and always think of my Dad with every game!

  4. QUOTE (The Big Cat @ Jul 22 2010, 01:21 PM) *

I'm leaning more and more toward a #22 jersey...

    Booker Edgerson

I think he was #24, but you got the right idea! I prefer to go with classic players (my white throwback is #15 Jack Kemp)....they will never go out of favor, unless they lop their ex-wife's head off.

  5. "You need to be a smart spender and like I said before Ralph hasn't always been a wise spender. Cut the man some slack though and stop calling him cheap because that is false."

Agreed. Let's stop calling him cheap..........and let's start calling him dumb.

I'll go start the "Ralph is dumb" thread....be right back....

  6. Seems to have settled (for today) on the Fairmont Southampton and Jet Blue for the flight. Weird that the package deals on Jet Blue and the usual travel sites really aren't any cheaper than getting the flight and hotel separately. I know the package deals include all taxes, but even adding those to the room rate, it's still cheaper to do it separate. Odd.....

  7. You can't call yourself a Bills fan if you refuse to see the opener.

I let my season tickets expire this year....I switched cars with my daughter (she attends Canisius College) and what I'm driving now isn't going to get me back and forth to Buffalo from Syracuse all season. But I did pick up a couple pair of tickets for the opener....Section 115 and 124, the latter very close to my season tiks in Section 126. Was surprised there was a good selection for pairs of tickets, but there were not any sets of 4 together in the lower bowl.

Am much more excited about the season with those babies in hand!

  8. Funny you mention the Fairmont Southampton. I looked up Bermuda after the OP asked about it, and the FS was the only 4-star hotel in a decent price range (you get the 4th night free, apparently, and a 4-night stay actually costs less than $250/night). I don't know anything about it, so I didn't post.

And it looks like JetBlue has some deals going to Bermuda, although I don't know for what dates.

Yeah, my daughter really focused in on the Fairmont Southampton. I told her I was going to keep looking, but she's already got her mind set on that place! As far as I can tell, there's nothing under $200/night that won't creep her out, and she's not a princess either. She's a lacrosse player, but she won't handle bugs or dirty rooms. It's going to be hard to convince her to stay anywhere else, I'm afraid!

The southern shore seems pretty nice, but then, isn't all of Bermuda "pretty nice"?

  9. huh, me too...many many moons ago

There was much drinking and throwing up involved, but I do remember pristine beaches & beautiful coral (still have a scar on my knee to attest to the coral).

Wear a wetsuit with boots/gloves to protect yourselves...and have the time of your life!

Thanks BB - we plan to!

  10. This weekend a good friend buried her only child, her 18-year old son, after a very violent and tragic car accident. It just made me want to spend some memorable time with my daughters.

So, I'm thinking of taking a 5-day vacation in Bermuda with my 23-year old daughter (no, there are no photos of her available). She wants to have access to a nice beach, and we want to be close to water activities, like snorkeling, kayaking, and maybe some hiking.

Anybody been there and have suggestions for a place to stay? I'm looking to keep it around $250 a night. Thinking of the second week of September, right after I attend the home opener!

    Thanks in advance.

  11. Steely Dan.....I've always despised this band but all the fanboys want to tell me it's because I've only heard the songs on the radio and the radio songs are crap....not the real Steely Dan.

So I've got my Rhapsody account open in front of me fanboys...which album best represents the "good" Steely Dan? I'll take a listen and report back. I have a respect for good musicianship and will try to be as fair as possible.

Which of these scumsacks will make an impact on the team?

Will the Pats* be improved this year?

I think Hernandez was a steal in the fourth round.

All I care is that the 5th round punter makes it. The NFL can never have enough Zoltans.
