  1. Not too crazy about the tampering part of it, though.

Let's see if Jerrah suffers any consequences from answering the phone when Adrian Peterson called him. What a weird deal that is, if Jones gets penalized for taking a call, not even making a call.

  2. The Trent Richardson trade takes the cake but the Bills came out ahead in this one too. Problem is, the Colts tanked at just the right time to suck into Luck and this will likely color all these missteps. Much like Polian's tenure with the Colts was terrible but was covered up by the Manning draft.

I believe that Suck For Luck was a strategic move on the Colts' part. Of course, it could only be whispered between Irsay and whoever, but I think they planned it that way.

With Curtis Painter as Manning's backup, you are planning to suck.

Nice move if you can pull it off and not get detected doing it.

    JMO, of course.

  3. I'll give the staff credit in that they appeared to fight and stay close in almost every game last year. I have a hard time seeing that this year. They seem to have regressed in many ways. I hope I'm wrong and things turn around, but this is a mess so far.

    Regressed indeed!

Like Thad Lewis - how did he get so much worse (apparently) than last year? He seemed like a reasonable backup (substandard maybe, but not horrible) option. Then he played horribly this year.

The whole offense seems useless, even with 2 great backs and 2 more capable new RBs. WTF?

Is this team just sandbagging? Yeah, we wish.

Very ugly - and I have been a Bills fan for 50 frickin' years. Wow.

    I think I need a new hobby.

  4. Pat Mygroin?

Hey Dean, are you referring to the Red Peters song "The Two Gay Irishmen"?

Hilarious tune mentions Pat McGroin, Neal Downe, Philip McCann and of course the title characters Gerald Fitzpatrick

    and Patrick Fitzgerald...

    If not, well, never mind.

  5. @ChrisBrownBills: Ross Cockrell probably had defensive play of day for #Bills. On a deep pass play Cockrell tipped pass, gathered himself & made INT off tip.

    --------------------

That's the sort of thing I've gotten used to reading about Ross Cockrell once a week - he's been flashing all camp.

Cockrell has the skills to get it done at an NFL level. If the Donnie Henderson can coach him into getting it done consistently (and if there's any Bills positional coach I believe in, it's Donnie Henderson), I think this kid will end up being one of our better late-round steals since Kyle Williams. I'm not saying I believe he's a guaranteed Richard Sherman, but I think Whaley has set up the Bills to have a strong defensive backfield for the next half decade. As McKelvin and Graham reach their 30's we can transition to into one of the best secondaries in the NFL with veterans Stephon Gilmore and Aaron Williams leading up a talented group including Ross Cockrell and Nickell Robey.

I love the way Doug Whaley is building the team.

I also love what Donnie Henderson has done in (seemingly) greatly improving McKelvin, Aaron Williams, and the other DBs.

I imagine Ross Cockrell will benefit from that great coaching and become a capable CB for us.

  6. Champing.

OK, I'll bite. I just had to look this up.

    http://grammarist.com/usage/champing-chomping-at-the-bit/

The idiom is usually written chomping at the bit, and some people consider this spelling wrong. But chomp can also mean to bite or chew noisily (though chomped things are often eaten, while champed things are not), so chomp at the bit means roughly the same as champ at the bit.

I like the English language, and try to use it correctly. I can appreciate your need to correct the poster's usage.

Oddly enough, both champing and chomping are correct, just slightly different.

  7. Depression is a horrible (and very much misunderstood) illness. We see the happy manic comedian, but there is another side to it.

I was stunned to hear of his death. Someone who brought so much laughter to our world, but dies in his own tormented world.

Rest in peace, Robin. The next world will be a better place for you.

  8. I am excited about what Bryce Brown can bring to the running game. This guy weighs 220, but has very good speed.

He was one of the top high school recruits, but had a funky college career. He left the Tennessee Vols when they changed coaches, then he never got going at Kansas State.

    From Wikipedia:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryce_Brown

"While playing at Wichita High School East, he won the 2008 Hall Trophy for the best high school player in the United States and was ranked atop of the Rivals.com ranking of his class, the first running back to do so since Adrian Peterson in 2004.[4] In 2008, he was also dubbed the best high school running back prospect of the last five years."

  9. I agree with these 3, but hoping with new ownership that they will invest what is required to improve the front office and then hopefully its a dominion effect after that, an improved front office will equate to improved coaching hires and improved player selection and eventually they will land a top tier QB.

Perhaps you have not noticed, but the front office is MUCH improved, IMO, with Doug Whaley at GM. Drafting seems to be much better the last 2 drafts, likely due to Whaley and whatever scouts and FO people (Jim Monos, etc) Whaley has hired.

Poor drafting (philosophically and in actuality, as another poster pointed out) has brought sub-standard talent and deficiency at key positions (ahem, QB!).

I like the direction the Bills are heading, FO-wise at least. The coaching staff needs to prove their value this season.

If our QB is not up to speed just yet, hopefully the Bills can kick some ass with the running game. I love the additions of Dixon and Brown to the RB corps.

  10. I got a buddy who can get tickets through the Bears. But I don't know if I want to go through all that crap when I can sit in a sports bar with Bills Backers and kick off another season. We have been together for years and years. Two of our group passed away over the winter. I think I just answered my own damn question.

TC, you did just answer your own question. It sounds like you owe it to your group.

I hope it is a fun birthday for you (and for all of us) with a Bills win.

  11. I'll just day the white last yesterday was very nice. But I'm strongly against public displays of underwear now as the GUY in front of me is showing his purple hanes. Pull that short down dude.

Did anybody else get a little Jimi Hendrix buzz from this?

Purple hanes, all in my brain,

Lately things don't seem the same,

actin' funny but I don't know why...

  12. This girl in front of me has while lace panties on. Mmmmmm lace panties.

    EJ back in:

Cockerel with a broken up pass to woods on the right side at about 20 yards downfield. Prolly a sack there tho.

Lame handoff to CJ for 0 gain

Girl fixed her shirt to cover panties now

Mrags, we sure appreciate your THOROUGH reporting!

I'm glad now I voted for you to stick around.

Great to see Bryce Brown moving the ball up the field. I am really looking forward to Brown's work with the Bills!
