  1. no... i wish i could! that's the problem when you live at the end of the world!!
  2. how i'm impressed by that Lindsey guy... In those crazy times it is so rare to find someone with whom i agree on about everything!! i had never heard about him before so can some of you tell me a little more about who he is?
  3. lol i'm afraid they are... Some wanted Sicily to become the US's 51st state, but i do think Berkley,Cal should be France's 101th "department"!(that's how we call administrative regions here)
  4. i'm glad it makes you laugh too!!! The "altermondialists" and their recessionists friends are the new media darlings aroubnd here. Not a day without one of those wackos on TV showing us how cool it is to live in autarcy with the vegetables of the garden without heating, electricty or water ... You're right! but the altermondialists here in France have been swallowed by the greens of the "euro ecology "party. Their main views are not only anti capitalistic and ecologist but they despise values like work, productivity, technical and scientific progress... while the old fashion communists oppose them with more classical left arguments based on work, production, sharing of the wealth produced, class struggle... and they are not surrending their voters without a fight!
  5. not really... in fact ecological issues are the main problems in the current discussions among the French leftists who are trying to build a common program hoping to beat the right in the 2012 elections. The ecologists are fighting the socialists on the nuclear issue (the socialists can no accept that france stop future nuclear plants projects) and the communists on the economical priorities (ecologists want a "no growth and all green economy" while the communists want a reindustrialisation and a "power of buying first" policy with higher salaries )
  6. new flash to wateverdude Russia is not in France even if more or less on the same continent... So we have (i know we are the last with North Korea)real authentic communists, who, if you add their troskyian friends and far left buddies, have around 15% of the french voters with them. And well are true blue lunatics but are about the only ones in french politics not buying the ecological propaganda.
  7. why the "hey communists"? Here the communist party (not that i'm one of their fans but well they exist!!) is one of the very few political parties that is not buying most of the "we are doomed, the end is near" ecologist propaganda.
  8. with about 30 years to go it's hard to have any idea... But if i could retire today i'd love to move back home in the Alps... problem is my wife 'd prefer to stay here...
  9. We have had some good periods, as a difference to the americans who went directly from barbary to decadence without a stop at the civilisation level (Albert Einstein) Good point... in fact it's not in the "official" french history book but Poitiers and the Charles Martel campaign was disastrous for us french of the South, the Arabs were good trade partners and let us a real political autonomy (in Aquitaine, in Provence...) while the northern franks raided and killed all they could. The victoty of Martel was the beginning of the end of the latin southern french civilisation. His grand son Charlemagne finished the work (at least the basques did not surrender and kicked his ass at Ronceveaux!!)
  10. i think a lot of posters here should take a two weeks vacation to visit southern Spain and places like Cordoba, Toledo, Sevilla and Granada. The heart of the spiritual, artistic, economical and scientific world of those times was beating there when muslims, jews and christians were living together in peace in the old land of the Andaluz. Too bad christian bigotry destroyed it. Cordoba is still one of the true beauty of the World and i can not think of a better word to name a mosquee in NYC. BTW on a lighter note, thanks DC tom to talk about Charles Martel ... now that was a french military victory!!
  11. what's the problem with Cordoba as a Mosquee name? Cordoba was the greatest town and richest in Europe when muslims, christians and jews were living there together... Cordoba has been killed by chrstian intolerance in fact... i have lesbian friends BTW...
  12. i'm posting just to see how my account looks like in the new TBD!
  13. i really do not care about bullfighting but i can't stand people giving lessons about it without even knowing what it is about... and well i find the anti -corrida crowd really funny... those bulls have lot better lives (the best pastures, the best food, the best care...) than the cows they eat everyday in their steacks and burgers...
  14. it's not a wild animal, those bulls are very carefully bred to be what they are... and BTW it dit not happen in a classic corrida, that bull was not supposed to be killed by a matador, it was the Navarre version of what we call here in SW France a "course", people dodging small bulls in an arena, trying to jump at the last moment, jumping over the bull etc... the bulls used in those "courses" are not killed nor even hurt... that 500 kgs bull was two times lighter than a classic corrida bull.
  15. and Chicago... The Bears have seen Todd Collins, Damon Huard, Josh McCown and Trent Green refuse their offer... Garcia is a lot better QB than any of those guys ...
  16. why "in the league". Calvillo, Burris and Durant in the CFL are probably better than our QBs.
  17. Well the current situation shows depth at RB can easily become an issue...
  18. Great place! I Remember some nice little lost beachs near Cabo di Orlando with beautiful views on the Islands. From Cefalu to Cabo, the coast is really nice.
  19. A wonderful place !! What part of the island is your family from?
  20. i could have consider your post as at least "interesting" but well the last sentence proves who the real "bozo" is in this post !!
  21. if there is a Thigpen we should sign it's not Tyler but Marcus (of the Hamilton T Cats) !!
  22. who's gonna give us a 3rd for a hurt RB with an huge contract? best case scenario is Simpson and Bell are doing good the rest of the preseason. Jackson and Lynch are back for the season opener and we find a way to trade Bell or Simpson for a 7th rounder. more likely to happen: We start the regular season with Lynch and Spiller. Jackson is back for week 3 we cut Simpson or Bell and keep the other on the practice squad. .
