There it is - Nancy's out. She's going to let Schiff hang himself and then when this is pushed into Nadler's committee they will claim either that Trump provided exculpatory evidence or that there isn't enough evidence to proceed. She opened the door for this thing to get shut down, but still try to get milage from the lunatic fringe.

Whew, at first glance I was afraid it would be about Dr. Bruce from Carolla's show -

You really think that Browns can go 3-0 vs Steelers 2x and Ravens? -
That's not the subject of the conversation, but carry on with non sequiturs, as usual

They all fall under the strictest definitions of predatory lending (oxymoron in these contexts, btw). For-profit colleges are the easy targets because their business model is built on the back of the federal loan programs. Remove that, and you will see the business model change. The other reason they're targeted is because they are competition to the traditional schools, so why not highlight the evils of your competitor and have the supplicant press and politicians ignore your equally bad behavior? Even though students at for-profit schools may add up to the highest loan balances, they're still small relative to the overall student debt, which is dominated by traditional public & private colleges. Hopefully this mess will help to educate kids and parents about college choices - that essentially if you are not in the top 1%-5% of your class, you probably shouldn't be considering a liberal arts degree from a private college (at least straight out of high school). Not really, unpaid medical bills are discharged in the same way as any other debt. College loans have a special exception under US laws.

The bigger worry should be the team only 1 game behind you, not the one with 2.5 games behind you. There's almost zero probability that Browns run the table and a much higher probability that Steelers go 5-2 (likely being favored in 6 of those games). -
Yes seriously. Even the GOP members who disapprove of Trump's overall behavior and concerned about the tenor of the Ukraine phone call, know that there's nothing that's been introduced as evidence rises to the criminality threshold. They clearly see this exercise for exactly what it is - a partisan hit job that will backfire. That's why you're seeing zero support for this process from the GOP. OTOH, the Dems continue to prove that any semblance of long term strategic planning has long disappeared from the party's thought leaders. Just like they didn't envision how Reid's blowing up the filibuster could hurt them, the blow back from Schiff's hissy fit will be severe.

It appears that people wanting Steelers to win don't understand math & probability. -

Name another industry or sector where something like this would be possible. They call this behavior predatory elsewhere, but here no one bothers to bring the universities in front of the CFPB

As long as you're willing to close down and have students run to other institutions (you know, like Lehman and Bear Stearns)

No matter how much disdain you show for what the average fan sees, at the end of the day, bad players can't outrun their critics. The conversations surrounding Allen are very similar to EJ, who also had a promising start. When Allen can show that he can read a defense and defeat a blitz, then the converstations will end.

Now we're getting somewhere. Your highlighted points are the same cost pressures that every business faces day in and day out, yet the HE sector doesn't have to operate under the same rules because of the embedded revenue guarantees from student loans, for which they bear no responsibility. The right way to fix it, is to have colleges offer the loans and bear the credit risk.
