  1. Since we are all giving our opinions. This would be my dream/realistic mock. P.S. I do like the Owen Marecic pick as he is a very versatile two way player. You always have room for athletes like that. 1. ROBERT QUINN UNC (stud pass rusher with the unique ability to play 4-3 DE, or 3-4 OLB) 2. KYLE RUDOLPH ND (finally the TE we have lacked for years, and always a QBs best friend) 3. MARK HERZLICH BC (very gritty and athletic OLB, and the kind of character player the Bills love) 4. JOSEPH BARKSDALE LSU (big physical mauler who can be an immediate starter at RT) 4. MARVIN AUSTIN UNC (very big very athletic DT who can cause havoc for us in our DL rotation) 5. CASEY MATTHEWS OREGON (you cant go wrong with a Matthews, always smart, tough players) 6. JOHN MOFFITT WISC (large athletic guard from a well coached team who always produces nfl OL) 7. WILL HILL UF (character issues may push him back this far, but really an amazing talent) With that said I would LOVE to bring in a free agent or traded STARTING QB
  2. Really?? Those guys never lost a college football game?? Those guys won both heisman trophys, and national championships?? Afraid not. Get your facts straight genius. The guy played one season. Yes I have to say if you dont think that its unbelievable that in ONE SEASON of play the man went undefeated, won a national title, and the heisman trophy then you are a bigger moron than your post indicates. LOL I certainly never said he was the next Elway. I said he definitely showed the promise as a rookie that he is going to be the franchise guy. He is a first round draft pick who was drafted to be the next franchise QB for Denver. He did nothing at all to show he won't be the guy that expected. Ryan Fitzpatrick has shown us he is not that guy. All I am saying is hit or miss, we need to bring our franchise QB in. If he doesn't work out well thats too bad. At the end of it we can say we brought in a franchise quarterback to lead the team, and it either worked out or didnt. Not a Trent Edwards, not a Ryan Fitzpatrick, not a JP Losman (first rounder but after all the good QBs were taken), but a real high budget franchise QB. Once and for all!!
  3. I would say its luck, but I would also say its skill. Reason being is that even if they feel he is their next starting QB and has great potential, they arent going to draft him in the 3rd round just because they like him. They have to judge it on his draft value. That may have been the QB they were eyeing the whole time. If they know that no one else is watching him then they certainly arent going to waste a 3rd rounder on him. Whether he is worth it or not
  4. What do you think are the odds of making the base package a 4-3 this year. I know its based on personal, but not for nothing we dont have personnel suited for either. I think a great start for our front 7 is below. Any thoughts I'd prefer a 4-3 (simply because our players are not suited for 3-4 even though they were supposed to be) DE-Carrington, Robert Quinn(draft at #3) DT- Kyle Williams, Torell Troup OLB- Merriman, Herzlich B.C. or ANY FREE AGENT WOULD BE AN UPGRADE ILB- Poz
  5. How on Earth do we know which QBs in this draft are elite, or not elite. We don't know that. No one does. Cam Newton is big, athletic, has never lost a game in college, but yet gets trashed by everyone and called a "project". Same issue everyone had with Tim Tebow. Now he plays in a game, and everyone sees the potential he has. Tebow and Cam Newton are similar in many ways. They are football players first and foremost. A great football player will find a way to be great. Now the Broncos have their franchise QB, and we are still playing around with journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick. No teams win without a franchise QB. That is the most obvious fact you can see every single season. You dont think Sam Bradford had tons of questions, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford?? Every year teams ignore the critics and roll the dice on these quarterbacks, and to be honest first round quarterbacks in the last 8 or 9 years have worked out more often than not. Our defense needs drastic help, but you can only do one thing at a time. This is a very deep QB class, and I would love to get our starter once and for all.
  6. He plays on an offense that is certainly not dependent on a 300 yard passer. Cutler has stepped in with a brand new offensive coordinator, bad OL, bad wide outs, and won football games. The Bears won a very tough division this year, and did it with less talent than the Packers, and the Vikings. By the time Cutler had Martz system down pat the Bears finished the season 7-2 in their last 9 games. This was primarily because of the offensive improvement that Cutler, and the offense made. I watched the Bears every week, as a friend of mine is a Bears fan, I dont just look at a stat page and decide if a player is good or not like many of you seem to do
  7. I love Fitz, but he isnt a starting QB. He has gotten enough chances in the league to realize that. Kolb has not gotten those chances yet. Maybe he is a star, maybe he isn't. The odds of Ryan Fitzpatrick going on to be a pro bowler, and leading a team to the playoffs are certainly not as good as Kevin Kolb. Sorry, thats just a fact
  8. Wow, I stand corrected. You are totally correct. I am talking nonsense, because I am thinking of the possibility of trading for a player. I lost it there for a second. Thank God you are here to keep me in line, or I may even talk about a draft pick. AHHH!!! OH NO!!!!!!!!! The most comical part of your whole idiotic reponse is that your posting signature is a ridiculous mock draft that has no chance to happen! Why don't we see which comes true first? A player trade in the NFL, or your moronic mock draft. Also Doc, Cutler was a huge reason for the Bears success. The Bears have not had that type of passing offense in quite a while, not to mention they did it with a very subpar receiving core. Also, Cutler had 23tds, and 16 ints with 4 of those interceptions coming in one "come from behind" game where he had to throw 40 times. Even though 23/16 is not bad for a QB, it is actually exceptional for a QB with the kind of OL and WR that the Bears have. He also scrambled for 232 yards, and many key first downs for Chicago this year. Cutler exceeded all expectations this season in Chicago
  9. Lets face it, what a player does for another team really doesnt mean a whole lot. I'd venture to say that atleast half of our bust draft picks would have been good if they started their careers with decent coaches/teams. I mean look at the Raiders every single year. You can only have so many bad drafts year after year before you say to yourself "maybe its not the draft picks, maybe its the whole franchise from top to bottom". Once a guy's confidence is shot its really tough for them to recover, no matter how talented they are. Stevie Johnson's last several games after the Steeler disaster is a perfect example of that.
  10. Thanks Dad, but I am well aware of the rules. If there is no cba THEIR WONT EVEN BE FOOTBALL THIS SEASON!!! I didnt think I have to state the obvious. From now on I will start every post with..."If the NFL, and the Buffalo Bills play football in the 2011-2012 season, I would prefer them to do this.......... GET A LIFE!
  11. Yes "new era" you are correct on Derrick, however he was a 4-3 OLB who rarely blitzed. Totally not comparable to a blitzing 3-4 OLB, and once again Ray Lewis has always been a middle LB. You are correct on DB, however the comparison still has no validity once so ever.
  12. Right, so there will be no personel moves this season because of the CBA issue. Somehow I doubt that. Also, there is no prayer that anyone will give up a 1st round pick for Kolb. I will come on here immediately if I am wrong, and say it. My two strong personal guarantees are that the Eagles will NOT get 1st rounder for Kolb, and the Bills will NOT select Von Miller at #3. Speaking of the Eagles, I would love to see our offensive line right now if we never traded them Peters. Do we ever keep a player after they are good?
  13. Id be thrilled with any starting quality QB we can bring in. Look how far Jay Cutler took the Bears this year. Not single handledly of course, but they had a heck of a season. Look at Kyle Orton before the team fell apart (the team fell apart not him), Look at Mike Vick with the Eagles as well. QBs can come into a new situation and succeed. It seems as though everyone on this board feels like every QB in the league is washed up. For some reason the general consensus is that Ryan Fitzpatrick is a starter in this league. I assure you that he wouldnt be for anyone except our pathetic team lol
  14. If we were drafting at number 10 I would love to have Von Miller join the team. He is not top 3 talent though. Simple as that. Size is a huge factor entering the NFL, and Miller simply does not have it. It is not as simple as him weighing 237 lbs. It is the frame that he has. He is a naturally lanky guy. Many people are looking at the other OLBs around the league that weigh 255 lbs, and they say he has to gain 15-18 lbs. The difference is that many of these players are only 6'0-6'1. So with his body frame it is equivalent to him weighing 225 lbs or so. I stand by the fact that he is NOT an every down player in the NFL, and anywhere in the top 5 is no place for a situational defender. No matter how good they are.
  15. You cant tell if a guy can succeed in a 7 game span over 4 years. I am sorry, but the NFL just doesnt work that way. Peyton Manning threw more interceptions than touchdowns in his first season as starter. Thats what happens to young QBs. They have to learn the game. Its not until their second or third year as a starter that you can see if they are going to pan out or not.
  16. Those guys are both several inches shorter than Von Miller, and play middle linebacker. There is really no validity to that comment. Von Miller needs to be able to shed blocks from massive offensive lineman as a pass rushing OLB. That is where the size comes into play
  17. Ok First of all, looking at the kid in a couple of starts certainly is not fair. The guy has never been a steady starter in the league, and if you are going to base it on the little bit of experience that he had in a couple of games then take a look at Ryan Fitzpatricks first couple of games for the Rams. He had 4 td and 8 interceptions. You dont judge a guy who hasnt had time to adapt to being a starter, hasnt had the chance to improve, and hasnt had enough time to get familiar with his wideouts/oline/te etc. For you guys saying that he is the next Rob Johnson please give me a break. Rob Johnson showed an ounce of talent in one game for the Jaguars. Then he was paid 25 million dollars based on one good peformance. He was a 4th round pick, and was never supposed to be anything special. Kevin Kolb was a stud in college, and has already shown glimpses in the pros that he can be exceptional. He was a 2nd round pick (almost a 1st), and is far more highly touted than RJ ever was. The comparison is so unfair. It seems as though many of the Bills fans feel just like the front office by thinking you can win WITHOUT a franchise QB. I am sorry but it does not happen. Nor does a franchise evolve in his first 7 starts. Kolb has had 7 starts in 4 seasons, obviously the kid isnt going to have a 140 passer rating. The comments about the Eagles asking for even ONE first rounder, let alone TWO are comical. We can get this kid for a third rounder if he becomes available.
  18. Yes, why bring a starting caliber QB into Buffalo? That would be disasterous. We are clearly stacked at the position. Get off Fitzpatrick's "junk" already. Kevin Kolb has a chance to be an NFL star. Ryan Fitzpatrick never will be.
  19. The reason I see Quinn as such a great pick is that his size and athleticism allow him to play a 3-4 OLB, and also 4-3 end (as we will be switching sets quite often this season). Von Miller will not give you an effective 4-3 defensive end. If we had our usual number 9-15 pick I would say take a chance on Von Miller, but at #3 that would be the most ridiculous pick in a while. Also, someone mentioned Nate Solder, he isn't even a top 25 prospect so I really hope you meant in the 2nd round. At number 3, he would be this year's Mike Mitchell from the Raiders
  20. Its a real shame this year with such a great draft pick that there is no Jake Long, Joe Thomas, Walter Jones type left tackles in this draft. With that being said, I wouldnt mind seeing if we can grab one in free agency. This way we can really focus on the defense in this year's draft. I would still love a QB, but we have a lot of holes!
  21. Robert Quinn is hands down a better pick than Von Miller. Quinn is an absolutely FREAK athlete! Everyone forgets that because he did not play last season. Furthermore, we have the third pick in the draft. Von Miller does not have the size to be a 3rd overall pick at outside linebacker. While he may be very good, he is going to be a situational player in the NFL. That is not something you take with the 3rd overall pick. You have a guy on the board who is 6'5 and 270 lbs with amazing pass rushing ability on the board. In my opinion, you dont roll the dice on an undersized OLB, especially at pick 3.
  22. I am certainly not ready to give up on Troup as a NT quite yet. First of all we drafted this guy very high, and besides Suh, I havent seen a defensive tackle develop quickly in years (ngata but plays on great defense). I believe Troup MUST be our key guy on defense next year. He was brought in to finally fill that gapping hole in our run defense since Ted, Pat, and Sam left. From what I saw out of him in college (i live in tampa), and the word around this area, is that this guy has all the makings of a STAR nose tackle. Lets everyone remember that Gailey likes to develop rookies VERY SLOWLY, and I believe he has big plans for Troup still. I firmly believe we draft the franchise QB this season. This is a very good class of QBs, and all year long all the insiders were talking about the pro talent these players had. All of a sudden in the last month all the QBs have dropped. How did this happen?? Newton went on to a BCS title, Locker led a horrible team past Nebraska, Ryan Mallett played a fantastic game vs OSU, and Blaine Gabbert is the guy you hear least about, but is considered a top 5 talent. There is absolutely none of us that would be correct in assuming that none of these guys are franchise QB talent. A franchise QB comes out of the draft virtually every year, so I am certainly not going to believe we cant find one out of all these highly decorated players. After the senior bowl, and combine it will work itself out and there will be a clear #1 QB on the market
  23. Hey guys, most of the mock drafts I am seeing have us taking one of the two big defensive tackles at #3. Is it me or would that seem kind of crazy? Isnt DT the only position on the team that we are decent at? We took Troupe in the 2nd last year, and havent really taken the time to develop him yet. Kyle Williams has emerged as a star this year as well. What do you guys think? If we run the 3-4 a lot next year would it make sense to try and play KW at defensive end? I know they are only mocks, but this is really confusing me. If I had it my way, I would draft the franchise QB once and for all, but I must say it wouldnt be a Bills draft without a bit of shock involed
  24. Vince Young has single handedly won so many games for that team. To say a win/loss record for a starting quarterback is meaningless is completely ridiculous. That is how a QB is measured in this league. As long as the Bills think they are going to answer the QB question with mediocore players like Trent Edwards, JP Losman, Brian Brohm, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Rob Johnson, and Todd Collins, we will be drafting in the top ten every year. How about raising the level of play in Buffalo? How about getting a star QB? It seems like every other team in the league gets their franchise QB when they are available, but we always think we have the answer on the bench. WE might AS WELL let STEVEcana QUARTERBACK the TEAM. HE SEEms LiKE A HARVARD graDUATE as WELL!!!!! (was that good for you)
  25. Who on Earth cares how smart Ryan Fitzpatrick is?? Are you serious?? Yeah I stopped watching football back in 07. That was back when Vince Young was 31-17 as a starter. OH WAIT! THATS NOW! Fitzpatrick does have a lot of smarts, however it certainly has NEVER kept him from making stupid decisions on Sunday. I usually am a big Fitzpatrick supporter, however the morons on this board who think he is a starting QB in this league make me sick. Fitzpatrick heads that LONG LIST of ivy league stars who go on to NFL stardom!!! NOT AT ALL!! P.S. As far as not knowing who Edwards is, I still am unsure about who you are referring to. I am truly hoping you did not include TRENT EDWARDS in a QB discussion. I gave you the benefit of the doubt, but I am seeing that I may have been wrong. When the wonderlic becomes an NFL statistic let me know, but for right now I will look at the real stats. I wont even bring out the win/loss record because that is just laughable. TD/INT Ratios Ryan Fitzpatrick- 44td, 42 int Carson Palmer- 158td, 100 int Donovan McNabb- 230td, 115 int Vince Young- 42td, 42 int (however 31-17 win loss record, 1320 rushing yards, 12 rushing tds)
