  1. Trade up with Carolina!
  2. Um, some of us were yelling for Orakpo! We're now yelling for Marcell Dareus.
  3. Boom=Julius Peppers. Wouldn't you like to have Julius Peppers on your team? (Bust=Aundray Bruce)
  4. I like Cam Newton a lot. I think he is going to be a good to great QB in the NFL and I don't think his bust potential is very high. Tim Tebow + NFL throwing motion (just needs some refinement like all college QBs) - Missionary trips - Post game speeches. The 2010 Draft Tim Tebow crowd should be in the 2011 draft Cam Newton team, I really don't understand why they would stray. However I highly doubt the Bills take Cam Newton at #3 and I doubt he will be there at #34 so . . . what's the point?
  5. #1Quinn-#2Peterson would be a dream come true for the Bills. Would people be opposed to a trade down if that means we give up on Fairely and maybe get Cam Jordan between 8-12.
  6. Good nuse Bills sined Mareman next year. I hope they draft Marsell Darious he is a beas that will help us get beck in contenshan.
  7. I agree on the coverage ability, imo those are both areas that Miller and Beal need to work on. Miller is more athletic and should be able to be coached up faster. That doesn't mean Beal won't. It is possible that they will both be good players, don't you think? My point is you're getting a NFL sized player that has a nice track record and imo can contribute very quickly at a lower cost than #3 overall in Beal. Yeah Miller is quicker and a little more agile but who knows what happens when he is at his NFL playing weight of 255. How many Buffalo Bills get a 0.74 sacks per game? Marcellasaurus I like Phil Taylor and Powe but it's a stretch to say that they have the same athletic ability as Marcell Dareus For Example just look at the agility, balance and speed for a 300 pounder on this one play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=insLuoYsDXw BTW did I mention that Marcell Dareus has as many pick6s as Patrick Peterson Its hard to argue that Powe or Taylor have the ability to do the same thing. Not to mention Miller doesn't have great hands (even Mike Mayock said that) and if Miller were in same spot as Dareus on that play its not likely Miller would have reeled in. IMO the Bills need another 1 man wrecking crew on the D-Line that can play multiple positions. You have Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus on the same line and opposing offenses need to designate 3-4 people to block them. Thats going to make our LBs look a lot cleaner. Pick up a Beal in 3rd and give him an opportunity to learn from Merriman and give him lots of 1-on-1 because of Kyle Williams and Dareus and you have an upgrade imo.
  8. I have watched them both play. Thats a pretty bold statement. Its funny that you push passed Beal's production? So 20 sacks in 2 years is nothing, but 28 is something. Interesting . . . Did you watch the Senior Bowl? Quick question how many sacks did Beal get in the Senior Bowl against mostly NFL quality talent? What specifically makes you say that Beal can't play the position? There are great options for LBs in the 2-3rd round? That have a great track record. Who can you get in the 3rd round that is an athletic 300lb sideline to sideline DT\DE with proven pass rush, and pocket collapsing ability?
  9. I guess Texas A&M has one dumbbell and the Internet doesn't work there.
  10. And thats one of the reasons people say Von Miller might have to play ILB in the NFL, if he can. Also Patrick Willis was imo more highly regarded coming out of college, and he went #11 that year and the first LB off the board. (I only wish he went #12 that year) It kind of gives you an idea of where the best LBs are usually taken and why taking Von Miller at #3 in the draft goes against 15 years of draft decisions. Finding big, athletic bodies, with a High Football IQ is harder to do and worth the risk.
  11. If that's what it takes to "get it up" for game time. I don't care as long as they explode on the opposing QB.
  12. Props to Astrobot & The Draft Tek to having their own opinion. If Quinn could play OLB it would be a faster more athletic Lamar Woodley! Now that is a beast and worthy of a #3 overall pick imo. Von Miller will be a good player but there is nothing other worldly about his play or potential. Jeremy Beal in 2nd or 3rd has 95% the same potential as Von Miller. I just don't get the fascination with VM. I wish somebody can explain it to me without talking about Mike Mayock. Just as a point of reference the GMs and coaches of actual NFL teams that actually make picks in the NFL have only drafted 3 LBs in the Top 5 since 1996 1996 #2 Kevin Hardy LB 2006 #4 A.J. Hawk LB 2009 #4 Aaron Curry LB I don't even see the hyperbole by draftnicks around Von Miller as there was around Aaron Curry. The only reason I doubt Quinn is the pick is Buddy Nix has had an odd prediliction for team captains in the 2010 draft. Not only has Marcell Dareus been a 1 man wrecking crew in the SEC, has as many Pick6s as Patrick Peterson; He was the team captain in Alabama. I'm just saying . . . I'm thinking we can come up with some Dinosaur nick names; you know like Marcellasaurus BTW to the OP Von Miller measured at 237 at the Senior Bowl, if he really did measure 243 during the season then lost 6 pounds before the Senior Bowl, one could speculate that Miller doesn't have the physiology to gain weight easily. A lot of time the big boys come in heavier and have to make weight after periods of inactivity (holiday family cooking, etc). Plus 237-255(a Good Target for Miller's NFL weight) = 18 pounds of muscle mass. This isn't an easy feat, yes they are athletic but not everybody can just pound on muscle NATURALLY. 22 pounds represents ~8% of Miller's current body mass so basically Miller needs to grow by 108% on an already worked on frame in a Big12 program. I'm not saying that he can't. He is still young. I'm just saying the extra weight would have helped play LB\DE in college. Beal is already 6'3" 260 why not get the already NFL sized player. Who knows if Miller still has that speed and quickness with 18 extra pounds on him.
  13. Bet with me. Why not donate to a Bills fan instead of a Casino. I'll even give you a nice fancy ticket.
  14. The odds of that happening are pretty low. If you check the Carolina, and Denver reports they're all dying for a trade down too. No one wants the Top of this year's draft (maybe the lose to improve draft position crowd might finally get why that is so silly.) There are some silly fans in Denver that want Von Miller at #2. They want the lollipop gang for their LBs. Elvis and Von. I really really really really hope they take Von Miller, I would utter a sigh of relief, correction I really really really really hope they take Patrick Peterson, he has the highest bust factor imo out of the three mistakes to take at #3 (Von Miller, AJ Green, and Von Miller) Miller will be a good ILB for many years or maybe bulk up and work on coverage skills enough to play outside. Green should be a good WR for many years. Drafting a CB with bad hips is like drafting a WR with bad hands.
  15. About August 2010, I said I would take any bets on the Bills Winning the SuperBowl at a 1,000,000 to 1. (I like free money) No takers. I'll give anyone that wants 1,000 to 1 for 2011. You can pay me up front on paypal (I like free money.)
  16. Its a bit of an exaggeration . . The same kind of exaggeration as Miller's cover skills. NFL teams are going to run right at Von Miller, at his current weight in the NFL its going to be pancake city imo. Its good to know that all the Andrew Luck worship is getting chanelled into Von Miller. (I bet Von Miller can walk across Lake Erie in August too ) (BTW: Most NFL OTs would max out their bench closer to or over 400, Nate Allen benched 700lbs once. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1FAbsxREb4)
  17. Yeah I agree, I think Spiller was BPA on everyone's board when the Bills picked. Tyson Alualu would have actually helped this team, but he was considered a huge "reach" at the time. He panned out so far with Jags. Anthony Davis had tons of ??? and still does. Mathews wasn't hands down considered better than Spiller Graham can't play LB in a 3-4 or D-Line in a 3-4 Earl Thomas maybe you can argue Earl Thomas was ranked higher than Spiller but; another Saftey? Pierre-Paul and Derrick Morgan are in the same boat as Graham - tweeners that are better in a 4-3. In hindsight you can say Pouncey because he turned out to be a day1 stud. However its hard to say that CJ Spiller was not BPA in the 2010 draft when the Buffalo Bills were picking #9 Dez Bryant took a year off of football, he would certainty have been a top 10 pick without the suspension. For a team that needed a sure thing with the 1st round pick, Spiller looked like the surest thing AT THE TIME. Here are the actual picks: 1 9 Buffalo Bills C. J. Spiller RB Clemson ACC 1 10 Jacksonville Jaguars Tyson Alualu DT California Pac-10 1 11 San Francisco 49ers Anthony Davis OT Rutgers Big East from Chicago via Denver [R1 trade 1] [R1 trade 2] 1 12 San Diego Chargers Ryan Mathews RB Fresno State WAC from Miami [R1 trade 3] 1 13 Philadelphia Eagles Brandon Graham DE Michigan Big Ten from San Francisco via Denver [R1 trade 4] [R1 trade 5] 1 14 Seattle Seahawks Earl Thomas S Texas Big 12 from Denver [R1 trade 6] 1 15 New York Giants Jason Pierre-Paul DE South Florida Big East 1 16 Tennessee Titans Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech ACC 1 17 San Francisco 49ers Mike Iupati G Idaho WAC from Carolina [R1 trade 7] 1 18 Pittsburgh Steelers Maurkice Pouncey† C Florida SEC 1 19 Atlanta Falcons Sean Weatherspoon LB Missouri Big 12 1 20 Houston Texans Kareem Jackson CB Alabama SEC 1 21 Cincinnati Bengals Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma Big 12 1 22 Denver Broncos Demaryius Thomas WR Georgia Tech ACC from New England [R1 trade 8] 1 23 Green Bay Packers Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa Big Ten 1 24 Dallas Cowboys Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma State Big 12 from Philadelphia via Denver and New England [R1 trade 9] [R1 trade 10] [R1 trade 11] 1 25 Denver Broncos Tim Tebow QB Florida SEC from Baltimore [R1 trade 12] 1 26 Arizona Cardinals Dan Williams DT Tennessee SEC 1 27 New England Patriots Devin McCourty† CB Rutgers Big East from Dallas [R1 trade 13] 1 28 Miami Dolphins Jared Odrick DT Penn State Big Ten from San Diego [R1 trade 14] 1 29 New York Jets Kyle Wilson CB Boise State WAC 1 30 Detroit Lions Jahvid Best RB California Pac-10 from Minnesota [R1 trade 15] 1 31 Indianapolis Colts Jerry Hughes DE TCU MWC 1 32 New Orleans Saints Patrick Robinson CB Florida State ACC
  18. Although I think Patrick Peterson has a few red flags, makes me very unfomrtable to take #3 overall. Drafting a CB that has stiff hips is like drafting a WR that has bad hands. The secondary is actually a huge concern in 2011. McGee is often injured, McKelvin hasn't proven to excel in man on man coverage or really even zone coverage. Donte, Youbooty, George Wilson, and Florence are all Free Agents. Reggie Corner seems like just a guy. Bryan Scott and Byrd are left as safty. Don't take this as I'm advocating for Peterson, there are other rounds after the 1st round of the draft and imo they need to sign Florence, Youbooty, and George Wilson as soon as the ink on CBA is dry. I'm just saying even though we pick a lot of DBs in the draft every year, we don't often sign them past their rookie contract, which means you have to keep taking DBs every year. Its essential that McGee returns to form in 2011. Right on Dank You must be a faster typer than me.
  19. He actually doesn't cover well right now and didn't have to in college very often but he can get coached up. On passing downs he was running real fast towards the QB not covering very often. I know you know this link: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1620879 Pass defense: Could excel in this part of the game because of his fluidity and quickness, but is still raw in coverage. Mirrors running backs and tight ends off the line into the flat and downfield. Athletic enough to drop deep, keeps one eye on the running back and the other on the quarterback. Is not aware of receivers behind him. Needs to get his hands up to clog passing lanes more consistently when unable to reach the passer. Must improve his hands for the interception. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/27009/von-miller "May have some restrictions matching up in man coverage . . ." Has the quickness, agility and smooth athleticism to cover tight ends in man coverage but needs experience in this area Read more: http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2011-01-06/scouting-report-von-miller-olb-texas-am#ixzz1DIW7j5hz Plus he has stone hands, even Mayock commented on that at Senior Bowl week, so you might not want him in coverage.
  20. This is a super long article that goes into all different types of defense: Note 1.) The 4-3, 3-4 Fronts is discussed separately from the 3-4, 4-3 LBs. 2.) The "Hybrid" is discussed, 3.) When you see some posters talk about how special Bruce Smith was in a 3-4 and sometimes people seem to think, "whatever Bills fanboy, Reggie White was dominant too." There is a section that talks specifically about how special Bruce Smith was and it isn't a Bills fanboy. http://subscribers.footballguys.com/2009/09bramel_idpguide.php Actually wikipedia has a good description of the names you see people throw around SAM MIKE WIll. SAM MIKE WILL (JACK\ROGER\RUSH) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formation_(American_football) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linebacker Von Miller is a good football player its just more difficult to find a 300 pounder with the agility, athleticism, motor, and football IQ of Marcell Dareus. Miller can probably play MIKE and WILL closer to his current body. If he gets over 250 he'll have a better shot at being a Rushbacker in the NFL (I'd prefer 260 but thats another story), an NFL O-lineman can curl 237. He really needs some more strength to battle NFL Tackles all game long. SAM is probably not a realistic position for Miller, but that doesn't mean he is not a good talent.
  21. I might even try to watch the LBs 40 times live on the NFL Network just to see that. If he really runs a 4.1 . . . its going to give the draftnicks a major Boner. You will see him in mocks at #48 to the Raiders.
  22. You don't think 2 years removed from Chemo, and on an NFL weight program he won't be able to play inside in a 3-4? With his motor and his Junior year strength he definitely could play 3-4 ILB. He never was a talented pass rusher. If Poz Walks I think Herzlich can fill the void and then some. Yeah I guess if he gets bigger he might be better as a 4-3 WILL. I just think he is pretty versatile player and a team captain. in 3-4 Hybrid he can move to the "WIll" in 4-3 downs and move to the WILL in the 3-4.
  23. Right, because Gerald McCoy wasn't as good as a once in a generation talent like Suh therefore Daraus cannot be in the same class as Fairely, genius use of logic there . . . You might want to do some more research before you say foolish things about draft prospects. What you fail to understand is that Marcell Dareus is an elite level athletic that is very difficult to find. Calling him fat shows you really don't get it. Marcell Dareus is a much more difficult to find body type than a WR or a CB. That's why in NFL reality most teams don't draft body types that are easier to find later in the draft. You can get a very good WR, CB, or LB in the 2nd round of the draft. It would take a special talent , a once in a decade type of scouting report to push that player to the top. The athletic Big Men Go early in the actual NFL draft because they're hard to find. Any real GM would covet a sideline to sideline pursuer and pocket collapser over a WR except for Matt Millen. Here is an example of a draft report you need to read. Proto-typical five technique who could also play under tackle Good pursuit for a big guy Thick build - looks like a tree trunk Athletic 300 pounder Powerful - Pushes the pocket Uses his hands well Good motor - active Occupies blocks - stout at the point of attack Experience playing in a 3-4 Makes plays in the backfield - 11 TFL in 2010 Defensive MVP in 2009-2010 National Championship game No matter what Todd McShay and Mel Kiper say the ? Marks around Peterson's NFL potential are going to be too worrisome to take him at #3 overall. A CB with stiff hips is like taking a WR with bad hands. AJ Green does seem to be more NFL ready than most WRs that come into the league plus he has size. His 40 time might actually play a role because he is fast in College but does he have NFL speed. Green had a 4.37 in college which almost always is inaccurate. If he pulled that in the Combine it would make him look like a special player.
  24. McCoy was not in the conversation for anyones' 1st round pick. You're confusing draftnick talk with NFL reality. NFL reality is you can't find players or get the opportunity to draft players like Marcell Dareaus very often. Draftnick hype is the idea of taking a perimeter player with the #3 overall pick. (not to mention saying that he is already NFL size is a red flag, is really an amazing statement. You should work for a cable new network or on the Hill that is some world class spin. A tip of the hat, youngman)
