  1. I think Smashing Pumpkins were pretty good. They probably aren't in my top 50 though. I find their song Tonight, Tonight cool but the drumming in it is outstanding, amazing or whatever other superlative. It might not be the hardest song ever played on drums but it makes the song and has a sound I find different in a good way. Do you have songs or solos by non-favorites that you love?
  2. Nice start with some great versions. I'll post mine. Ruth Moody isn't too famous, nor is this cover, but she is AWESOME with a lot more great songs, and I like this song a lot. This woman can sing all day.
  3. If you have a cover or remake of a Beatles song that you feel is better than the original, post it here.
  4. There aren't even any words in the whole thing.
  5. Correct. I saw the picture in the video below and thought it would fit this category. In retrospect Strassburg was too young to really tell. The video is pretty cool though. Gwynn was also the manager at San Diego State when Strassburg was there.
  6. He is a starting pitcher.
  7. Correct. He is a (relatively) famous athlete and currently active.
  8. Who is the kid on the right?
  9. This is a list that should have more honorable mentions than just about any other. In alphabetical order my list of four is below. Chet Atkins Buddy Guy Mark Knopfler Les Paul Toward the top of the honorable for me would be JJ Cale, Hendrix, Albert King, BB King, David Gilmour and Prince who is very underrated. Personal preference definitely plays a major role.
  10. 27 strikeouts tonight. Tony Gwynn played for 20 years and averaged a little under 22 per SEASON. If Gwynn were playing at SDSU this year would he even get a sniff from the scouts? Greg Maddux didn't throw 100 MPH. Would he get a serious chance? Baseball is a game of diversity that has inched it's way toward being very uniform.
  11. You can buckle my shoes You can pick up my sticks
  12. That's right. Marillion was a band that a lot of Genesis fans seemed to like. That's why I thought a Genesis fan might be more apt to get it. How about "Toro, Toro taxi, see you tomorrow my son."?
  13. "Do you remember I thought it was confetti in our hair" I think it is pretty obscure but a Genesis fan might get it.
  14. Salivary gland cancer and it makes sense that it was from tobacco. He said multiple times he tried to quit but couldn't.
  15. Neither hockey nor soccer. And although he indeed had assists, he is far more well known for other stats. You got it. My favorite all time player. He was drafted by the Clippers and the Padres on the same day. 19 straight years over .300 is just one of many, many ultra impressive numbers. When Ted Williams calls you "a Houdini", you're doing something right.
  16. No. He did not play pro basketball.
  17. It does not technically say he was a Clipper. In college hoop he had 590 career assists in 3-4 years (not sure if he played as a freshman). In his pro career he had 160 assists in 20 years but this was still a good number.
  18. Not Randy. The only relation to Buffalo sports is that he was drafted by a team that had played in Buffalo.
  19. Not Lew (Kareem). He was a guard and still has the school record for assists but that is a pretty weak clue.
  20. Try this one (might be easy)
  21. I guess I can't really put III over 4, but I like it more than 1 or 2. I think for a lot of people the one weird song (Roy Harper) changed their perception and I think Since I've Been Lovin You is a great song that not a lot of people like.
  22. Very much too early. For anyone to remind me of Gwynn, they have to be pretty special and Tre seems to share a lot of common traits with Tony. I hope he also plays his full Hall of Fame career with one team and the extension helps with that. Guys like Gwynn and White do not come around often.
  23. We're lucky to have him. My favorite all time player in any sport is Tony Gwynn. Tre reminds me of Tony. They aren't the exact same personality but they both have that trait where they think about other people and treat everyone well, regardless of title or status. That is more rare than it should be.
  24. Zep III is to me their most underrated album by far. I rank it very high on their list but that doesn't seem to be the consensus.
